The Reincarnationist

In MJ Rose's The Reincarnationist, the first installment in the Reincarnationist thriller series, you'll be hooked with this excellent thriller with shocking twists. Josh Ryder hasn't been the same, after the accident happened in Rome, one year ago. Now he's been experiencing memory lurches, that took him back to the hands of time to Ancient Rome and later to 19th century New York. When he returns to Rome, he met Professor Rodolfo at a mysterious tomb of one of the ancient Vestal Goddesses and the secret behind it. There, they're robbed and Rodolfo is shot.  Now it's up to Josh to meet up with Professor Chase, who've worked with the professor, and try to connect the dots. But there's evil men behind the theft of the missing Memory Stone, which unleashed those lurches of reincarnation. Rachel Palmer is another person who's experiencing her own past life regression in present day New York. Together, they unravel the secrets behind the stones and who's behind it all, with a shocking twist in the end.

This is an excellent debut in this thriller series with a hint of historical fiction entwined in the storyline plot. I cared about Josh and Rachel and how they dealt with their past and present lives. I loved the dual locations of New York City and Rome in both time periods. This would take you on a journey of your own from start to finish with heart-pounding non-stop action, drama, intrigue and suspense, all wrapped up in this mind-blown thriller.

Will you check out the Reincarnationist anytime soon?

Heart Sick

If you love shocking thrillers, this one's for you. In Chelsea Cain's Archie Sheridan thriller series, the first installment, Heartsick, Archie Sheridan escaped the clutches of a female serial killer named Gretchen Lowell, two years ago, when she kidnapped him, tortured him, and almost left him for dead. Now, he was addicted to pills and divorced. While he was on the trail of the After School Killer, he flashbacked to when it happened, (all written in present tense), every time they meet in person. Susan Ward was a newspaper reporter with pink hair and a troubled past, while she tried to uncover a scandal in the local government. When her past caught up to her, they collided and interceded with the AS Killer, which linked back to Gretchen in prison. Wow!

This was a fantastic thriller debut by Chelsea Cain. I did feel bad for Archie and his family, when this happened to him in the past. I did become curious on Gretchen and more intrigued by her reign of terror on him. I also liked Susan's pink hair and her love for journalism. Archie and Susan make a helluva powerful team. I loved the central Portland location for the series, including Archie's flashbacks to time. This would send you chills down your spine and then some. Great dramatic action, plenty of suspense and intrigue to keep you turning the page, and lots of thrilling mystery to kickstart the series.

Are you heartsick for another book? Pick up this thriller today!

The Death List

If you love thrillers set in the UK, you'll love the first installment in the Matt Wells series. Matt Stone aka Matt Wells is a crime writer who's down on his luck. His ex-wife hates him, he lost his publisher and agent, he haven't written anything in a few years. Until now, when someone emailed him, claiming his biggest fan, sending him subliminal messages. Little did Matt know, this same person is a serial killer who's copying the crimes in Matt's books, which puts him in the middle of this mess. Not only is Matt drawn into this message, but everyone he knows is in danger, especially when the victims are personal, moving from one death list to another.  It's up to Matt and his friends, who are after him, and a few good men and the Met Police to stop him, before it's too late. There's a shocking twist in the end I won't dare give away.

A Sheetcake Named Desire

If you love great culinary cozies, you'll enjoy this one from Jacklyn Brady. In the first installment of the Piece of Cake Cozy Mystery series, Rita Lucero traveled to New Orleans from Chicago, when she received a mysterious phone call from her soon-to-be ex-husband, Phillippe Renier. When she arrived there, she learned he was murdered and his bakery was in trouble. With help from her mother-in-law, she tried to piece the puzzles together on Phillippe's life and business--everyone remained a suspect. His new girlfriend, his co-workers, his rivals. Meanwhile, she put herself in trouble and in harm's way, while Detective Liam Sullivan helped her figure it out, before it became too late for her in A Sheetcake Named Desire. Great yummy recipes included.

This was a delightful introduction to the cozy series. I loved the New Orleans backdrop to depict the scenery. I did feel a pang of sorry for Rita, when she had to deal with her future exes. I did feel some sorrow, when everyone gave her a heart-time at the bakery, when she learned the roots. They had some crazy cast of characters with unusual names like Ox and Sparkle. The bakery business sounded like a fun place to work with. I didn't feel anything, when Phillippe died. But I loved the chemistry Rita had with her mother-in-law Frankie and with Liam. Great drama, nice scenery, and plenty of action.

Want a piece of the sheetcake? Take a bite with this cozy now!
