In Bella Ellis's The Vanished Bride, the first installment in the Bronte Sisters Mysteries historical mystery series, get transported back in time to 1875, Yorkshire England before the Bronte sisters became famous for their classic literary works. When an old friend of Charlotte Bronte knocks on the door of her father's parsonage, she requests the help of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte to help her locate Elizabeth Chester. As the governess of the Chester Cottage, there's been no trace of the young bride around in the estate. Told in their POVs in alternating chapters, they discover what's really going on in Chester Cottage when they unearth every clue in the Chester household to search for answers. As detectors, they talk to people who might know of something as they went from place to place to discover a tooth and a pebble in one of the rooms. Was she murdered? Did she runaway or go into hiding? The closer they got to the truth, they discover a sordid story of Elizabeth's past and what might led her astray from her husband and his brute behavior. In the end, they connected the dots to learn the truth of her disappearance and what led behind it with a shocking ending to keep you in suspense.
This was a fascinating and riveting debut in the Bronte Sisters Historical Mystery series. I did care for Emily, Anne and Charlotte, as they told this story in a most captivating way. Before they were well-known published novelists, they became full of life as detectors to solve a most perplexed mystery right under their nose. I cared for them and how they worked with their brother Branwell to help give them a hand. I did love the intricate settings around Yorkshire and Hathorn England in the 1840s and how those locations popped on the page to came to life. This would make you intrigued and curious to find out how they might've gotten over their heads with non-stop action, suspense, intrigue, and plenty of drama to keep you at the edge of your seat.

Gray Mountain
In John Grisham's Gray Mountain, this legal thriller deviated from his regular legal thrillers and told the story from a female MC's POV that would leave you speechless. For Samantha Kofer, her job at a Wall Street Firm had came to the end, when it's been downsized and she's one of the people who's been furloughed out of there. As she looked for work as an intern, she had gotten lucky to work at a legal aid clinic in Brady, Virginia in Appalachia county. At first she didn't have much of a welcome to meet her employees, but she had learned the ropes the hard way for her first couple of months at the job. She helped her clients who were poor and dealing with a variety of topics from divorce and domestic abuse, wills, meth use, and fighting the coal companies. That's when she met Donovan Gray, a prestigious lawyer who made it his business to stop the coal companies strip mining the mountains and wrecking havoc in various lands. When Donovan informs her about what this big league coal companies were up to, she became curious to know more. But in Appalachia, she had been dealt with threats from those coal companies who won't back down and take no for an answer. Her clients trusted her and her legalese for help and made new friends with the people in the clinic. But when Donovan died in a plane crash, things change and the FBI breathed down their neck. It was up to Samantha and Donovan's brother Jeff to help set things right before things got troublesome for them, right before she decides if she wants pack up to go back to NYC or stay aboard in Virginia.
This was an interesting and compelling legal thriller that deals with real life issues concerning coal mining and the downside of it. I did care for Samantha as she learns how things had gotten badly with the people in and around Brady, Virginia. But she did make the right decision in the end. I also felt sorrow when Donovan mysteriously died in his plane crash that had changed things around. I enjoyed getting to know more about Annette and Mattie and how they made her felt welcomed and to fit in. I did love the vast array of scenic arrangements from Brady Virginia to parts of Tennessee and Kentucky and West Virginia. I did find Gray Mountain captivating that it was isolated and safe from mining on the mountain. This would make you wonder and shake your head with non-stop action, plenty of intrigue and suspense, and lots of legal drama to keep you compelled on every page.

Though the tensions are high between Cas and Dyce, they need to find out who killed two people in a lye vat and why. And before Dyce could go dancing with Castor, she would need to get down to the bottom of it to solve this sticky murder before it would too late for her.
This was an intriguing debut from Elise Hyatt. At the end of the book, it shows you tips on how to refinish your own furniture at your home. I did care for Dyce and how she struggled as a single mother while having an affinity diet of pancakes. I do think Ben could be quite productive of her as her gay best friend. I do think Castor Wolfe is an intriguing character who could be what Dyce needs for a love interest. I do like how it's diverse and introduces Ben and his issues with his live-in partner at home. I do like the small town of Goldport and its intriguing history in Colorado with mesmerizing scenic settings for that location. This would hook you and entice you to learn a new craft with non-stop action, intriguing suspense, compelling drama, and lots of tension for this cozy mystery.

The Last Thing She Remembers
In J.S. Monroe's The Last Thing She Remembers, this spine-tingling thriller will leave you breathless and at the edge of the seat. It all started with a woman who arrived at the home of Laura and Tony Masters in London. She claims she had lost her luggage and doesn't remember anything, not even her name. After they take her in for the night, things became change. For the time being, they call her "Jemma" and introduce her to the village. "Jemma" visits Tony's pub that serves vegan food and meets Luke, one of her lawyer's friend. The Masters couple became suspicious of her and how she knew the layout of their home among other things. They also believe she could be a woman called Jemma Huish, a deranged serial killer with mental health illness. While Laura wants her gone, Tony acts differently and becomes protective of her for some reason. They help her try to remember her name and to write her notes on what she called. When the police is brought in, they needed to take a closer look in Huish and if she could've been the person they've been looking for. For Luke, he believes this woman could be his daughter, the one his former girlfriend from high school put up for adoption thirty years ago. While Tony and Laura drift apart, Tony closes in on her and tells her not to write it down on paper. And at an intense showdown at the forest, the police shot the actual Jemma Huish when this woman isn't her. So who was she and why was she there? When she remembers her name is Maddie, she begins to remember what happened to her a decade year and how she sought revenge on Tony Masters, while the police discovers his sordid and twisted past and his fascination with seahorses and memories. In the end, she turns the tables around to tell her side of the story and have justice be served.
This was a fascinating and compelling chilling thriller to read from start to finish. I did feel sorry for Maddie and for what she had been put through in the past. I did become concerned on what would happen if the police had found out about her. I did feel worried for Luke who's search for his daughter might not happen, and for Laura, who trusted Tony before he became creepy. I did love the location around London then to Germany and India in the end. It was so visual and eye-popping for those scenic settings to come alive on the page to tell the story. This would leave you hooked with non-stop action, tons of drama, lots of intrigue, and sparks of suspense from start to finish.
