No Exit

In Taylor Adams's thriller debut, No Exit, this ground-breaking thriller will chill you in the same vein  and timetable like Sandra Brown's Chill Factor, a decade ago or so. For Darby Thorne, all she wanted is to return to Provo Utah to visit her sick mother who was diagnosed with cancer over the holiday weekend during her college break. But it wasn't so easy for her when she ended up trapped at a rest area in a midst of a horrible snowstorm. Stranded with four other people, they had to wait twenty-four hours until the roads are cleared and help could arrive. While they've gotten to know each other better, things got dicey and the odds didn't look too good for them. As Darcy went out to check things out, she discovered that someone had kidnapped a little girl for money. And she figured it out later on to ask for someone to help it out, she was dead wrong literally with no allies to support her. With a dangling threat to keep her alive and to stay survive, she had to outwit them and find a way to escape and call for help in a lethal do-or-die situation with a grisly climax in the end.

This was a fantastic thriller from start to finish. I loved how it took place in over 24 hours or less and in the midst of a snowstorm during holiday break for Darby in Colorado. I was saddened to hear what happened to her and her mother and what happened to her in the end--I won't give it away.  But she was a hero and believed in doing what she'd thought was good; to rescue a little girl and to keep her from harm. It was hard to like the other characters, other than Jay, the little girl, who was caught up in the midst of a messy kidnapping plot. It brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps to my skin. The themes of the story are there's all different acts of bravery and don't let selfish greed motivate you to do evil.

If you love heart-stopping, jaw-breaking non-stop suspense, plenty of drama, lots of deadly action, and sparks of mystery, you'll be chilled and thrilled in No Exit today.

Strings of Glass

In Emily Kimelman's Strings of Glass, the 4th installment in the Sydney Rye mystery series, this gripping story will suck you in and leave you intrigued.  For Sydney Rye, she lives in India with her boyfriend Dan and dog named Blue. It all started when Sydney and Blue rescued Anita, an investigative reporter, who vowed to bring down a serial molester and child trafficker. But it would take a lot of work and a couple of dangerous risks to pull it off. While Sydney deals with this new predicament, her feelings waffles between Dan and a close friend named Mulberry to make this awkward situation more  into a complicated love triangle. Sydney listened to her story and came up with a plan to bring this man down, dead or alive. But it would take a lot of work and a couple of dangerous risks  for her to pull it off with a powerful climax.

This was a gripping crime thriller mystery that would have you at the edge of your seat. I instantly cared for Sydney and her wonderful dog named Blue. She does live a most mysterious life when we don't know much about her past or her real name, and why she chose to live in India. We're sucked into her world and get inside her head. I loved how she cared about other people to help them and cares about her dog Blue. I don't know who's a better and suitable fit for her--Mulberry from her past or Dan in her present, maybe future state of mind.  I loved the Indian locations in every gripping scenic settings that's eye-popping and mesmerizing. The theme is all about risk-taking and making difficult choices.

If you love heart-stopping quick reads with non-stop action, plenty of drama, lots of suspense, and surprised by every twisted turn, check out Strings of Glass today.

One Charmed Christmas

In Sheila Roberts's One Charmed Christmas, this beautiful holiday romance is about life, love, and taking a chance on happiness for two different couples. For Catherine Pine, she wasn't looking forward to another Christmas alone since her husband died the year before. Her children was too busy with their own lives, and she dealt with a health crisis of her own--treating her recent cancer diagnosis in the new year. But with her best friend Denise's encouragement, she joins her on a holiday cruise trip to Germany. For Sophie Miles, she's a hypochrondiac  and a bit of a germophobe. But when her brother-in-law bails out of their cruise, she joins her sister Sierra on a the cruise of a lifetime. From there, Catherine and Sophie's lives are intersected on a charming cruise trip into Western Europe as they become cruise mates and later friends, while they dealt with obstacles along the way. But on one charming and enchanted cruise, it changed their lives forever when they've both found true love and potential soul mates with the men of their dreams for a happily ever after.

This was a wonderful holiday Christmas contemporary romance that pulls at your heart strings and tugs it real hard. I really loved the German cruise trip during the holiday season, which was more than magical and a special memory to remember forever. I loved the various scenic settings in and around the Rhine River in various German locations and also on the cruise itself. I cared for Catherine on how she needed to make the most of the trip with her best friend and making new memories and new friends of their own during that one special week. Besides her health issues, I'm glad she had a fabulous time on the cruise and did something for herself. I also cared for Sophie, who was in good hands with Trevor, the chocolatier, who had a way of words and to uplift people's spirits. The theme of the story is everyone deserves to have a second chance for happiness or to find something they've always been looking for, which might be right under their noses.

If you love heart-warming holiday romances and Hallmark movies with lots of charming drama, plenty of suspense, non-stop action on and off the cruises, and plenty of hopeful sparks of intrigue, One Charmed Christmas will be a gift for you.

Into Thin Air

In Deborah Rogers's Into Thin Air, this story is so gripping  and so fast-paced to keep you at the edge of your seat. It has the intrigue of a mystery and the chills of a thriller. For Dr. Julia Norris, she's a surgeon in San Francisco when she receives a call from someone named Yasmin about her younger sister Toni. She's gone missing. At first, she didn't know what to believe until she calls her again and finds out for herself. Toni's missing in Turkey. So she goes on medical leave and talks to her ex Leo about going down to Turkey. They go down together and discover how corrupt people are in Turkey and violent things can be. For Julia, she goes through a labyrinthe of mixed emotions from wondering if she's dead or alive.  Every time she learns something new, it's dark and dangerous, leaving her with more questions than answers every time until she gets closer to the truth. And it brings her closer to Leo too while she holds herself together until they discover what happened to her in a twisted climax to leave you speechless in the end.

This was an exciting and exhilarating thriller that would give you goosebumps from start to finish. I cared for Julia on how she dealt with her medical career, her personal feelings for Leo and for Toni, and how she would deal with the Turkish culture so far from home to find Toni. But she remained resilient when they kept hitting dead-ends and snags along the way. I do hope this would bring her closer to her sister and maybe a second chance with Leo. I really loved the Turkish background for the location that really took you places even if you've never been there before with gripping scenic settings to transport you there.  The theme of the story is be careful of strange people who you might meet and befriend you.

If you love a fast read that would keep you in suspense with non-stopping action, plenty of drama, lots of intrigue, and shocks of twisted and turns along the way, Into Thin Air is right for you.

Killer Takeout

In Lucy Burdette's Killer Takeout, the 7th installment in the Key West Food Critic Culinary Cozy Mystery series, this new caper is twisted like a hurricane to leave you guessing. It all started when Hayley Snow witnessed a catfight between two women before the annual Fantasy Fest. After it had broken up, they had a Zombie Apocalypse Parade when one of the zombies got sick and died. Now it was up to Hayley to find out what caused Caryn Bruckman's death and who did it and why. And she had to clear her friend and fellow coworker Danielle's name and getting a closer look on who Caryn was, and what type of person she was outside the royal court. While this is happening, Hayley's uncertain with her relationship with Nathan, a hurricane to steamroll through the Key West area, and her mother and future FIL plan to tie the knot. When she gets closer to the ice-cold truth, it's after the eye of the storm and learns whodunit before it might be too late.

This was another fantastic culinary cozy that takes place during hurricane season in Key West, Florida. It's idyllic and mesmerizing for the location and the gripping scenic scenes. I loved how Hayley is a food critic for a local e-zine that features cover stories around the Keys. I cared about her and how she would get down to the heart of the matter to help a friend out and to be supportive of her mother's remarriage to a great guy for her stepfather. I loved how the houseboat community came together to pitch in before and after the storm, locals and tourists alike. She's real down-to-earth and a trooper. The theme of the story is don't carry a grudge when your actions will speak for itself.

If you love great culinary cozies that have recipes for you to try at home with non-stop action, plenty of drama, lots of suspense, and hints of mystery, you'll love Killer Takeout.

Ride the Tide

In Julie Ann Walker's Ride the Tide, the third installment in the Deep Six Salvage Navy SEAL romantic suspense series, this story is so red-hot, it sizzles. Mason McCarthy is a former Navy SEAL officer who's looking to settle down with the right woman and to search for a buried lost treasure in the sea. Ever since his ex-wife Sara had burned him, he wasn't looking for romance and closed his heart to find love possible again with someone else. For Alexandra Merriweather, she loves to read and devour knowledge and information from books. But she had one thing on her mind in her young age: to lose her virginity. And she had eyes on Mason for the longest time. While they look for a lost buried treasure, they had some bumps and obstacles along the way including a lurking threat across the ocean that might threaten their happiness. While Alex was looking for love with Mason, he wasn't interested in a forever romance. But when he had to leave to take care of business, he had her in the mind and knew what he wanted in the end: her. On a side note, it was also about Alex's friend Chrissy and her blooming romance with Ray "Wolf" Roanhorse too.

If you're a fan of Military romances and TV shows like SEAL Team, you'll enjoy this book. It has all the right ingredients to keep you in suspense. I cared for Alex and how she wanted Mason and one thing from him.  I loved how she wears glasses and loved to read and red-haired and the perfect heroine to root for. And I loved how she's close to Chrissy and how Mason and his SEAL team members are close and look out for each other to protect our country from domestic and international enemies. I loved the Florida Keys location especially on Wayfarer Island. It's blissful and idyllic and perfect for a salvage dive and the backdrop for the novel. The theme of the story is it's okay to take leaps and bounds to fight for what or who you want.

If you love heart-stopping romance suspense with lots of non-stop drama, intense suspense, plenty of action, and great sparks of sexy romance, Ride the Tide is one for you.
