Puppy Kisses

In Lucy Gilmore's Puppy Kisses, the third installment in the  Forever Home Western contemporary romance series, this heart-warming romance will have you heart thump like a happy puppy's tail. Dawn Vasquez always means serious business. It all started when she rescued a golden retriever from his owner and taken him to Zeke's brother's ranch for rehabilitation as his service dog. That dog fought for her life if it wasn't for dawn. Adam Dearborn had always lived his life as a rancher, even if he was visually impaired and used a cane to get around the ranch. But when Dawn brought Gigi, the golden retriever, onto his ranch, he knew she was nothing but trouble, when she always had a way to get under his skin and make his sweat. While she trained Gigi to be his service dog, she didn't think Gigi was cut out for the dog when Uncle, a Great Dog, fit the job well. During the next couple of weeks, they've gotten close together and the chemistry between them was red-hot. She placed her heart and soul to help Adam have the perfect service dog and want her to love her just the way she is. When he rebuffed her feelings, she came up with a plan to tell Adam how she felt by placing her proverbial cards on the table and putting her life on the line to call his bluff. In the end, she received a happy ending including her man Adam.

This was a delightful contemporary romance that has a Western twist to it. I cared for Dawn and how she's a risk-taker and gets what she wants in the end. I loved how she rescues dogs and cares for them by training them to be service animals. I loved how she wouldn't mind going out of her way, including getting her boots dirty in the process or stepping into cow manure. I loved how Adam didn't let his visual impairment interfere with his ranching duties on the ranch, or to lasso Dawn as his woman. I loved how diverse the cast is with Adam's blindness and Dawn and her sisters being Hispanic. It's so rare to see these types of characters being portrayed in the literary world. Dawn the cow was a hoot, and Gigi and Uncle did steal parts of the show. I loved the Western settings being depicted in Oregon and how the ranch life  filled the scenic locations very well. The main theme is to treat animals for kindness and toe the line to follow your heart to fulfill your dreams.

If you love romances that features adorable puppies with non-stop action, plenty of drama, lots of sizzling romance, and plenty of suspense to keep you hooked straight to the end, you'll love Puppy Kisses.

Stranger in the Lake

In Kimberly Belle's A Stranger in the Lake, this newest domestic suspense is so twisted, that it hit a home run right out of the ballpark. Charlotte McCreedy lived in a trailer park with a druggie mother, an absentee father, and her baby brother Chet, during her youth. But a year ago, she met and married Paul Keller, a rich man who's 10 years her senior, and a widower, and lived in a home on the Lake.  She was happy and just found out she's pregnant with her first child, when she later looked for Paul on the dock, talking to a woman. Hours later, she's found dead in the lake with a suspicious death. It brought up memories of how Paul's first wife Katherine landed in the lake as well. Paul's been acting suspicious and Charlotte wants to know why that is, as we have multiple flashbacks from Jax, Paul's long lost-best friend, and the events that led to that tragic night in the past. Everyone has their eyes on him and leaving vicious presents on her doorstep. Charlotte's friend Sam warned her about him before she married Paul and more questions pop out about this lady's death and why she came to Lake Crosby in the first place. In the end, Charlotte doesn't know who to trust and who to believe, when she comes face to face with a killer and does the right thing in the end to free herself.

This was a compelling domestic suspense about secrets and lies and how it can destroy lives and relationships. I cared for Charlie and how she survived a rough, poor childhood and how she had thought she had met her prince charming... when it later become almost the opposite. I loved how she searched for answers to get to the bottom of this mess and how she relied on her brother Chet when the tough get going through it all. I've thought Paul was a honest man in the beginning. But later I became suspicious like Charlotte died. I loved the lake town of Lake Crosby and how it painted a vivid picture with mesmerizing during the winter with a frozen lake. The theme is to confession's good for the soul and be truth and honest in a relationship, even if the past might come back to haunt you.

Sunburn

In Laura Lippmann's Sunburn, this crime thriller will keep you guessing and turning every page in this cat-and-mouse caper. Polly Costello planned on heading west. She has a shady past and planned to make a clean break in Belleville, Maryland. When she works at a diner, she meets Adam Bosk, the new line cook, and things change between them. Adam's not your ordinary line cook and hides a secret when he observes Polly and becomes intimidate with her, getting closer to each other until they fall in love. As Polly plans to divorce her husband and leave her daughter in his hands, she kept her hidden past a secret until one of her co-workers learns about it and threatens to expose her. Then things heats up when there's a fire at her house and kills her instantly. Later on, as they investigate the fire, there's a brewing chemistry between Adam and Polly when they know about each other's secrets and decide what to do about it. Before they planned to make a fresh start, there's an explosive and twisted climatic ending that you wouldn't dare believe what happened next.

This was a fantastic and compelling crime thriller from Laura Lippman. This caper had everything you wanted and then some in a classic cat-and-mouse storyline between two people who had secrets--one deadly, one not so fatal. I did care for Polly (aka Pauline) on how she wanted to live her life with total freedom and no restrictions. She had everything going right for her until she met Adam in Belleville and troubling chemistry brewed between them. No one knew what lengths she had to go through to get to this point and kept her past hidden. And Adam was a charming character who got him under her skin and fell hard for Polly, though he did what he wanted to do to be with her in the end. The small town of Belleville was charming and compelling for this mystery thriller to keep you up at night, when everyone might know more than your name. The theme is to don't get burned when you follow your heart.

If you love action-packed capers with tons of non-stop drama, plenty of intrigue, hints of romance, and lots of twists and turns, Sunburn is the perfect book for you.

Coldwater

In Tom Pitts's Coldwater, this crime thriller is so riveting with plenty of twists and turns on every page. It all started when Gary Carson's neighbors, the Perkins, moved from the neighborhood.  That's when he noticed suspicious activity in his house and called the police. They believed it was a squatters, when it turned up to be something else. Across the street, rich kid Jason De Wildt, is looking for a place to hide and a place to do drugs. The more suspicious Gary and his wife Linda are of them, the more dangerous the situation becomes from them. During this time, Jason's curious of the Carsons and from Calper Dennings, a fixer who works for his father, a heir to a fortune. When he kidnaps Linda, Gary teams up with Calper to look for his wife and learns the shocking connection between De Wildt and the Perkins. In this wild and lethal goose chase, things come ahead and heated when there's a shootout at a home and Gary's hit by a bullet and ends up in a coma. It's up to Linda to get to the bottom of this twisted mess in this life-and-death matter for a shocking conclusion.

This was a riveting and compelling crime thriller that would leave you at the edge of your seat. I cared for both Linda and Gary Carson, who wanted a fresh start after she had a miscarriage, and moved to a peaceful neighborhood in California. I was a bit worried and suspicious of their quiet neighborhood and the dangerous mess they left behind. I hoped they can start anew after what went down on their block and looked forward to a new day. I loved the Northern California locations and the sweeping scenic settings in Sacramento.  The theme is don't get power hungry with greed when dealing with dangerous people.

If you love heart-stomping crime thrillers with tons of action-packed suspense, non-stop drama, lots of mystery, and shocking twists and turns, check out Coldwater today!

Carolina Breeze

In Denise Hunter's Carolina Breeze, the second installment in the Bluebell Inn Romance inspirational romance series, this beautiful loveswept and tender-hearted novel is so inspiring and moving about finding love when you least expect it. For Mia Emerson, she's a rising Hollywood star and recovering from a broken engagement. In the middle of a potential spotlight for a scandal with her male leading star,  she escapes Hollywood and lands in Bluebell, North Carolina to the inn where her grandparents made their legacy there. She hides out there to deal with the blow and lick her own proverbial wounds. That's when she meets the innkeeper, Levi Bennett, the older brother of his two younger sisters, Grace and Molly, who help run the same family inn. While she kept up with her anonymity, they knew who she was and didn't alert the press.  He's been hard-pressed to keep up with the financials, but he acted like a loyal friend and supporter to Mia as a tour guide and a valet around the town. Within time, Mia befriends Molly, who's waiting for a proposal from her boyfriend Adam, and Grace, who has no wishes to go to college and build a business of her own. As she prepares for her latest movie role,  someone leaked out the press on her whereabouts, causing a maelstrom of the Paparazzi to interrupt their lives. Out of instinct, both Mia and Levi pretended to become a couple, when later on, they discovered they had the real thing--they started to have feelings for each other while they searched for a hidden family heirloom. But when things get serious, they broke up, leaving Mia reeling since her parents abandoned her and wants someone to love her for once. Within time, after Levi deals with a flood in his apartment, he lets his sisters run their own lives and be happy and reunites with Mia when she returns home to get her fairy tale ending.

This was another beautiful and lovely Christian romance novel from Denise Hunter. This was so heart-warming and moving to read Levi's and Mia's love story and how they've both found faith in God. I instantly cared for Mia on how she made herself a star to go for her dream roles she's passionate about. And I love how she bonded with Molly and Grace and how she wanted to become closer to her grandparents and why her father abandoned her when she was little. She's the perfect underdog to root for and how she followed her heart and for her love for Levi. I loved how she looked out for her sister and how he had so much weight on his shoulders concerning the inn's financials. But whenever he was with Mia, he became looser and less tensed and less stressed. He opened his heart and let her in and told his sisters how he held back on everything. I loved the dual locations of Bluebell, North Carolina, which sounded so lovely and idyllic, and also in Los Angeles, California. The scenic settings were mesmerizing and came full of life on every page. The themes of the novel are that you never know where you'll find love and that God will never abandon you as long as you have faith.

If you love beautiful inspiring Christian romance novels with non-stop drama, plenty of intrigue, hints of action, and sparks of romance, check out Carolina Breeze today.
