Leave the Grave Green

In Deborah Crombie's, Leave the Grave Green, the third installment in the Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James mystery series, this captivating tale is so twisted and leave you speechless in the end. It all started when Duncan and Gemma arrive at the crime scene to discover a body have floated in the Thames River. They learned Connor Swann, the son-of-law of a prominent family in London to Sir Gerald and Dame Caroline Atherton, and their daughter Julia. While they informed the family, they get a closer look at Connor's life and his ill-fated marriage to Julia, the black sheep. And this tragic death hits close to home since twenty years old, young Matthew Atherton lost his life in a devastating drowning, that shaken the Atherton's household to the core. For Gemma, she focused on the operatic career of Dame Caroline while Duncan concentrated on the family and his career angle. When they thought they had their suspect, they guessed wrong and learned the shocking truth in the final climax in the end.

This was a classic and timeline mystery that would leave you speechless when you finish the book. I liked the way Kincaid and James worked together as a team, though there's a hint of an undeniable chemistry between them that might cause problems for them later on. Individually, they have their own failed marriages and trying to make it to the top of the ladder in the police force. I did think Julia was a bit cold, but no one was even colder to top my list. I liked the London locations from the opera house to the Red Lion pubs and their own flats. It was picturesque and put me there for every scenic setting on the page.  The theme of the story is that everyone has a dirty secret and a shady past that people will do anything to keep silent.

If you love great nail-biting mysteries with plenty of non-stop action, lots of drama, heart-pounding suspense, and loads of chilling twisted turns, Leave the Grave Green is right up your alley.

The Dog Sitter

In Zara Stoneley's The Dog Sitter, this delightful contemporary romance/romantic comedy novel will leave you stitches. If you love dogs featured in love stories, you'll adore this one. Becky Havers needed to escape from a toxic relationship with her boyfriend who was also her boss. She's an artist and loves to paint pictures. But when she planned her escape, she found a dog-sitting/house-sitting job in Cumbria with an Instagram post. When she made the arrangement with Georgina, her life had ever been transformed by a lovable black cockapoo named Bella. Little did she know that Bella was in the middle of a custody fight between Georgia and her ex Ashley (Ash) James. Under strict rules, Becky mustn't let Ash take Bella or her home. But when Bella escapes from Becky, she runs into Ash, a handsome piece of eye-candy and a former Marine, who adores Bella. While she tried to sort out the mess between them, she becomes closer to Ash and learn more about each other every time they meet. During this time she house-sat, Bella helps inspire her to be her best and to stand up for what she wants in life as an artist. And all she ever wanted was to please her parents and siblings and to make  them happy. Before her house-sitting period ran out, she falls in love with Ash and figures out a plan to stay with him and Bella in Cumbria where she's the happiest when Bella had brought them together.

This contemporary romance/rom-com had made me laughing in stitches in this novel. I loved how Becky interacted with Bella and how she fell in love with everything in Cumbria. I'm so proud of Becky for standing up and taking the initiative on what she wanted in her artistic career. I do think that Bella's the scene stealing star of this novel and Ash is a hot piece of eye-candy if I say so myself. I loved the visual scenic settings of Cumbria on what it had to offer for the picturesque location from the house and into the woods. The theme of the story is to be find your happy place to be inspired and go places in life and love.

If you love heart-warming romances that have plenty of non-stop action, lots of romantic drama, loads of humorous bits, and tons of intriguing suspense, you'll fall in love with The Dog Sitter right away!

A Wedding on Lilac Lane

In Hope Ramsay's A Wedding on Lilac Lane, the 4th installment in the Moonlight Bay contemporary romance series, this newest edition is endearing and tugs your heart with so much emotion. For Ella McMillan, she needed a clear break from a bad relationship and from touring with the band. She has dreams to play the fiddle in Nashville. But when she learns about her mother getting remarried, she heads to Magnolia Harbor, South Carolina and helps plans her engagement party. But there's a snag: Dr. Dylan Killough, her future stepfather-to-be's son. He wants to break them up and not help with the party. As they worked together to plan the perfect party, they get to know each other better and have fun while at it. Dylan didn't want his father Jim to tie the knot again, not since his father's latest remarriage didn't turn up so well. While his father plans to slow down and settle down with Ella's mother Brenda, he ended up handling his father's case load of senior patients and taking care of the practice. With one night of unexpected passion between them, it change things for them as they unexpected have feelings for each other. And he's worried that Ella might leave town to pursue her own musical dreams. But when a health crisis happens to Ella's mother, they split up since they couldn't do this to her mother's happiness. But with a chance of fate, Dylan professes his feelings for Ella, she had gotten her own happy ending.

This was an enchanted contemporary romance when it deals with a different trope: falling for your future step-brother (or half-brother) in a blended family. I instantly cared for Ella on how she had fiery red hair and loved to play the fiddle in a wide range of music. I felt bad for her that her mother pushed her away and she wanted to please her. But the unexpected twist for falling for Dylan changed things around. I did think Dylan was pretty cool in his own way and championed for Ella when he took the blame. I loved the Magnolia Harbor small town setting that had captivating scenes for the enchanted location. The theme of the story is to be brave and follow your heart to be yourself.

If you love sweet contemporary romances that tug at your heart with plenty of romantic drama, lots of non-stop action, sparks of intrigue and heaps of love, A Wedding on Lilac Lane is the one for you.

Sunset on the Square

In Lilac Mills's Sunset on the Square, this sweet contemporary romance is so beautifully-written and heartfelt. Elspeth Evans was a widow and a British ex-pat who lived on Tenerife Island in the Canary Islands. She missed her husband Ray and works part-time in a bike sporting goods shop. Life have been lonely and dull, while her son and his family lives in Japan. When her friend Amanda asked her if she can host a tourist in her home since they had a  problem with his room, she volunteered to do it for a week and later met Charles Brown, a British tourist and former eye surgeon on holiday, who changed his world. As they get to know each other, they hosted him with food, gave him a tour of the island, hiked and explored the island. The feelings between them grew and became more than mutual when they became intimate and found themselves wanting each other more. Before her son Gideon's impending arrival to visit her, Elspeth dealt with her boss's family crisis to go to Germany and concerns with the store's new management, she had a full plate on her hands when Charles extended his stay to be with her in her home. Then when her son visited her with a surprise up his sleeves, she had to deal with a difficult decision to make for her and to aim for her newfound happiness and love with Charles on the island.

This was a sweet contemporary romance that's about second chances in life and love. I cared for Elspeth since she misses her husband since she's gone and wishes to be closer to Gideon and his family. I loved her adventurous sense of nature to work part-time and to go hiking and watch sunsets.  I adored Charles and how he changed her world for the better and for enjoying his stay in her home and to take matters into his own hands. I loved Tenerife Island as the perfect heavenly backdrop to set the story for the location and its exquisite scenic settings all over the island. The theme of the story is take chances with a leap of faith.

If you love heartfelt contemporary romances with non-stop action, plenty of romantic drama, and a dollop of goose-fleshed suspense, you'll enjoy Sunset on the Square. Pick up a copy today!

The Most Eligible Viscount in London

In Ella Quinn's The Most Eligible Viscount in London, the 2nd installment in the Lords of London historical romance series, this romantic love story would leave you with all the feels. For Georgiana "Georgie" Featherton, all she wanted was a romantic proposal from Viscount Gavin Turley after their courtship. But when he proposed to her, she declined to accept it since didn't care for her or love her at all. And that left her brokenhearted when she decided to take a holiday with her folks and stay with Lady Adeline Littleton, her closest friend, when she told them about the unromantic proposal. That left Gavin confused on why she turned him down. So he sought for advice from his friends and her matchmaking grandmother and aunt and their friend. To win her back, he had to woo her when she attended the same parties and raced horses together for sport while they got to know each other better. But there's a rival who wants Georgie's attentions, Lord Marc Lytton, to become his wife. It's up to Gavin to win her heart first before he comes after her. The more time they spend together, the more they realized they belong together until a failed kidnapping attempt had happened that made him realize how much he wants Georgie as his own and to rescue her with his undying love to win her hand for her to have her happily ever after in the ending.

This was a beautiful and heartfelt love story about second chances and to find true love. This just tugged at my heartstrings real taunt and wept in the end. I loved Georgie and how she loved to ride and race horses. She loves to be independent and goes after what she wants including Turley himself. I do sometimes think Adeline and her matchmaking grandmother are a hoot. And I cared for Turley on how he followed his heart and found true love to happen to him. I loved the location of London and the scenic settings that took place inside and outside their estates and on the road. The theme of the story is to give love a chance.

The Dog Share

In Fiona Gibson's The Dog Share, this woman's fiction deals with two people finding each other on a Scottish island and share a delightful dog. Suzy Medley is a single mother with two teenage kids who lives in Glasgow and also writes obits for the local syndicated newspaper. But when her boyfriend Paul came up with an idea to own a distillery in Sgadansay Island and make it their own with his inheritance money. She could only do is agree with him and go for the ride. But it didn't last long when he left Suzy to deal with the financial mess he left behind and putting her into a difficult situation when he'd abandoned their relationship altogether.  Ricky Vance is a single father with a ten-year-old son and a music teacher. His girlfriend Meg wasn't who she thought she would be. His ex-wife left them years ago and had led an unstable life with drug use. But when news came about the closing of the distillery and his father Harry losing his joy. But when a lost dog came into her life, he was just what he needed as no one claimed him. Later, Ricky and his son met Suzy via Scout in a dog-sharing program when they can spend time together and knowing each other. During this time on the island, Scout brings delight to everyone around them and changed their lives around on the island with a sweet heartfelt ending that warms your heart.

This book feels more like a woman's fiction novel than a contemporary romance to me. Or in some ways, it could be a combination of both into one. I did care for Suzy who had gotten the short end of the stick when Paul left her in the lurch with a mess of her own to deal with and handle. I could tell she's a very caring woman who needed a break and a change when she ventured on the island for beach walks. And Scout was adorable as I ever imagined to steal some scenes in the novel. My heart went to Ricky who had to deal with a deadbeat mom if you can call his ex that and sought a holiday with his son on the island. Sgadansay Island sounded dreamy and idyllic to talk strolls in the beach and enjoying the view. The theme of the story is about taking risks in life, whether it's in love, your career, or both, to find your true happiness.

If you love charming stories featuring dogs as the center of the plot, you'll love this endearing woman's fiction that has plenty of drama, hints of tension, sparks of romance, and lots of exciting bits.  Check out the Dog Share today.
