Wild About You

In this book blog post, I read Kaitlyn Hill’s Wild About You. This YA romcom will give you all the feels on every turned page. For Natalie Hart, she embarked on a new adventure, when she signed up to become a contestant in the WIld Adventures reality competition show to win some money to pay for financial aid. She was paired up with Finn Markum as her partner during the competition. For Finn, he mourned the loss of his father, and missed him much. During the challenges, they faced their fears, made new friends, and discovered new insights about each other, when they’ve gotten closer together. But when Natalie had gotten high anxiety, she feared she would let Finn down as partner and potential boyfriend. Her parents had neglected her, and she didn’t want to become a failure. With help from Finn and Harper, they excelled every challenge along the Appalachian Trail, and won more than a handful of money in the end.

This excellent YA romcom will move your heart and have you laughing in stitches. This romcom deals with anxiety, friendship, and finding your true love. I cared for Natalie, who had been dealt with a lot, but managed to endure and conquer them all. I loved how she made new friends and discovered her abilities without doubting herself. The location along the AT made me realistic and picture perfect for this novel. The dual themes are asking for help when you have stress or anxiety, and accepting yourself for who you are.

I rated this amazing YA romcom five stars. If you love romcoms with a twist, and a fan of the Amazing Race, Wild About You is a must read this mid-summer. This book is recommended for fans who love YA romcoms and diverse characters.

A Dance of Silver and Shadow

In Melanie Cellier’s A Dance of Silver and Shadow, the first installment in the Beyond the Four Kingdoms YA Fairytale Retelling series, this enchanted story is based on the Twelve Dancing Princesses story. For Lilianna and Sophia, twin princesses from the Arcadia Kingdom, they were both invited to a Princess Tourney on the island of Marin. For Lily, she was always protecting her twin sister Sophie, while both had shared a special gift of projecting thoughts to each other. While they meet other princesses for this tournament of dances and danger, she falls in love with Prince Jonathan from Marin, and helps save his kingdom from treasonous betrayals and coups. But it;s winner takes all to become betrothed to Prince Dominic of Palinar, a Beastly Prince, who's the most dangerous person to meet. And in the end, Lily’s twin sacrifices herself to give her sister true love and to become her own person.

This beautiful YA fairy tale retelling will move your heart and make it pound.  This love story has danger, romance, and plenty of drama, all wrapped up in one. I cared for both Lily and Sophie, since this novel deals with sisterhood and family themes. The enchanted island of Marin makes the location ideal and idyllic. The dual themes are love conquers all, while family always bonds us together.

I rated this heartfelt YA retelling five stars.  If you love enchanted fairy tale retellings with a twist, A Dance of Silver and Shadow is the one to read to cool you this summer. This book is recommended for fans who love fairy tales for all ages
