Killer Knots

In Nancy Cohen's Killer Knots, the 9th installment in the Bad Hair Day Cozy mystery series, get ready to set sail for adventure on a cruise. When Marla Shore and her fiancé Dalton Vail, and her future daughter-in-law Brianna go on a family vacation on a cruise, it was nothing but a pleasurable ride for her. First someone had sent her a message and had gotten her name wrong, when she was placed at the table with a couple of people who worked in an art museum. As she had gotten to know them, she had learned that everyone had a secret to hide, and the art curator had an art auction with a well-known artist named Eldon Tusk, who mysterious had fallen to his death. And that artist had the same connection to Marla's past as a model. Besides heated tensions amounting on the ride, she had to deal with the tension between her future in-laws and some people missing the cruise or having an accident on the ship. As soon as she had gotten to know more about Tusk's accident and what happened to their shipmates, she grows closer and closer to the truth, until someone had waylaid them at one of the Caribbean ports. When the truth is known, it's a life-and-death battle on the last day of the cruise when she faces the killer spot on.

This was a compelling new installment in the Bad Hair Day Mystery series. I did care for Marla and how she decided to tie the knot with Dalton, while her future mother-in-law had put the pressure on her during the trip. I did care for Dalton and Brianna, who have tried to enjoy that pleasurable cruise.  I did like some of her cruisemates and did feel sorry they were duped into that cruise too. I did love the vast scenic locations along the Caribbean from Mexico to St. Maarten and back to Florida that had mesmerizing settings in every port city. This would take you on adventure with high-stakes drama, non-stop action, bone-chilling suspense and plenty of intrigue to lure you in.

Give Killer Knots a try and go for the ride today.

Emerald Windows

In Terri  Blackstock's Emerald Windows, this inspirational thriller will make you believe in God and to make you believe in yourself. Brooke Martin was a high school student and talented artist. At the night of the graduation, an innocent hug turned scandalous between her and her art teacher, Nick Marcello. Then she left Hayden to work in St. Louis. Seven years later, she's been offered a chance of a lifetime to come home to Hayden and help work on her church's stained glass windows. But it would bring old feelings for her and to work with Nick, while everyone like Abby Hemphill would see to it to ruin them. People doubted and questioned something so innocent in the wrong way. Though while she worked on the stained glass restoration project, she tried to get to know her younger sister Roxy, who's been withdrawn and having issues of her own at age 17. No matter how hard Abby Hemphill tried to ruin them, they managed to finish the project anyway and came close together with God and to fall in love, when an ugly scandal would rear its ugly head for the Hemphills since turnabout is fair play in the end.

This was a pure inspirational thriller about following your heart and letting God build your dreams. I did care about Brooke on how something so friendly and innocent be misinterpreted. I did love how she became her own rising star in the stained glass field. I did feel bad on how she was shunned and mistreated, past and present. But I did care for Nick who never gave up on his dreams to continue his art world and to guide Sonny, his nephew,  to listen to his calling. I did like the scenic locations of Hayden and St. Louis and how mesmerizing the settings could be inside and outside the church. This would make you believe in yourself and not second-guess yourself with inspirational drama, non-stop action, intrigue, and a spark of mystery.

On the Other Side of the Door

In Nicci French's The Other Side of the Door, this chilling novel of suspense will you leave you breathless in every turned page. It all started for Bonnie Graham, a high school music teacher, who discovered a dead body at the other side of her friend's flat's door. Like Rena Olsen's The Girl Before, it's platformed with scenes of what events happened before the discovery and what happened afterwards. At first, Bonnie and her friend, Sonia, were the ones that discovered the dead body of Hayden Booth, a star musician who happened to join their band for an one-time-only event for her friend Danielle's wedding. When he first appeared on the scene to rehearse with them, tensions were so high, it could be cut with a knife. While Bonnie was seeing Neal, she grew attracted to him. But when Hayden got violent with her, things had come to a head. After Bonnie and Sonia disposed of the body and the evidence with it, they did the best to cover up their tracks. But when he was reported missing to the police, it complicated things and made things ten times worse. Everyone had a reason to hate him for one reason or another as secret and lies unraveled like a ball of yarn. And while the police questioned her, it made her nervous as she suspected one person or another who had killed him with a cold-blooded killer. Later on, she figured it out and came head to head to someone she was close to in an ear-splitting explosive climax at how things ended and how things started when she opened the door.

This was a phenomenal and bone-chilling suspenseful novel that would keep you at the edge of your seat. I did care for Bonnie and how she had gotten entangled into a deadly mess of secrets and lies and a lot of backstabbing. I did think she was a better match for Neal than for Amos, though Hayden was rough around the edges and a bit troublesome with a violent and shady past. I was suspicious of Sonia in more ways than one, which left me undecided about her true nature throughout the novel. I did love the glorious and vast locations throughout London and the other towns nearby that painted a vivid scene for this gripping novel. This would reel you in and have you hooked on the first page that make you want you to read more with non-stop action, intense drama, explosive suspense, and a lot of suspicious mysteries from start to finish.

Murder in an Irish Village

In Carlene O'Connor's Murder in an Irish Village, the first installment in the Irish Village mystery series, this debut has mesmerizing Irish settings and locales before your eyes.  It all started for twenty-two-year-old Siobhan O'Sullivan, the oldest of the O'Sullivan Six siblings, who acted like a guardian to her youngest siblings ever since their parents were killed in a car accident. She also runs the family bistro and brings in local customers to help support them. But when Niall Murphy claims that his brother Billy is innocent for the accident, he wanted money out of them to prove it. After a fight between neighbors, Siobhan discovered Niall's dead body at the back of the bistro, stabbed with a pair of scissors. That's when she rang her family family friend, Garda Macdara Flannery, whom she had  crush on for a long time. When her brother James is a prime suspect of the murder, she would do anything to clear her brother's name, even ask her neighbors if Niall was blackmailing them for secrets. While they didn't want her to interfere into their private lives, she had to know and suspected everyone. Until she was threatened with a note and a neighbor was later found dead, it was up to Siobhan to deal with this matter and place her life--and-heart--on the line to stop the culprit in the tracks with a surprising ending.

This was a surprising and charming Irish mystery debut. I did love the gorgeous scenic settings in Kildare, Cork County, Ireland and the majestic locations built around the small-knit town. It would transport you there, even if you haven't traveled to Ireland for vacation.  I did feel for Siobhan, who had a heavy weight placed on her shoulders to care for her siblings and to help manage the bistro too. I did find her a bit charming and spirited as well to do what she had to do. I could see Macdara be a position love interest for her and protect her and her family in his own way. This would entice you to read this Irish caper with intrigue, suspense, non-stop action and plenty of drama for a small village.

A Cookie Before Dying

In Virginia Lowell's A Cookie Before Dying, the second installment in the Cookie Cutter Shop Mystery series, this would leave you bewildered for a twisted tale. It all started for Olivia Greyson and Maddie Briggs, that someone littered newspapers on their lawn, and had broken into the Vegetable Plate store next door. When Livie wanted to find out what they found out what it was all about, she eavesdropped into the conversation between Charlene Critch and an unknown man arguing out loud. During the storm, that same man had wound up dead by a knife wound of some sort. And Livie's brother, Jason, was the prime suspect, who confessed for the murder. But Livie didn't believe him and did some snooping around to clear his name. It seemed that everyone in Chatterley Heights had a bone to pick with him. Also during the same storm, they saw someone dancing like a ballerina. As Maddie and Olivia tried to pick up the pieces between stolen cookie cutters and what's Charlene's big secret. In attempts to smoke out the killer after hours at her store, things get heated when she connects the dots to solve the mystery on whodunit and why.

This was a great new edition to the Cookie Cutter cozy mystery. I adore that small-town of Chatterley Heights, Maryland, which was close to the D.C. border. I did care about Olivia and how she took it Spunky and how she worked so well with Maddie on baking cookies to sell to others. I also did feel a bit sorry for Charlene and Valentina, who ended up seriously hurt by a madman. I did like Maddie and feel like some issues she needed to clear up on her relationship with Lucas. I did like those cookies they made, so delectable to make at home. This would make you salivate and take a bite out  of a crime with non-stop action, suspense, sprinkles of intrigue, and a dash of mystery.

Red Delicious Death

In Sheila Connolly's Red Delicious Death, the third installment in the Orchard culinary cozy series, get ready to sink your teeth into a juicy mystery and take a bite out of crime too. It all started for Meg Corey, who was still new to Granford and the orchard harvesting business, when her best friend Lauren had asked her for help. The Czarneckis, Brian and Nicole, were fresh out of culinary school and newly married to start a local food restaurant of their own in their small-town community. Of course, when they first discovered the Stebbins old family home, they had some bumpy obstacles along the way. They needed to go through the proper paperwork to get everything approved and they needed Mrs. Goldwaithe's approval on the Select Board meeting. But when their sous chef Sam Anderson wound up dead in a pigsty, it shocked that small town on who could do such a thing. It made Meg wonder if it anything to do with his sexual orientation or something else entirely different. As she helped the Czarneckis anyway she could with their restaurant business, things are getting cozy between her and Seth Chapin, her neighbor among other things around the town. As soon as she figured it on whodunit, it had a shocking ending with a twist in the end.

This was another compelling culinary cozy in the Orchard culinary mystery series. This held my attention from the first page to the end. I did care for Meg and how she managed to run an orchard and how she helped the Czarneckis out as a new friend. As she learned about apple orchards, I've learned a great deal too. I also cared for Seth who's pretty smitten with Meg and is always there for her in a pinch. I did love how the small-town community came together for the cooperative restaurant idea when everyone would benefit each other. This would entice you and lure you in with non-stop drama, suspense, hint of mystery, and plenty of action.

Love in Catalina Cove

In Brenda Jackson's Love in Catalina Cove, the first installment in the Catalina Cove contemporary romance series, this love story would sweep you off your feet and carry out away with the store. At age sixteen,Vashti Alcindor had gotten pregnant and kept the secrecy of who fathered her baby. She was told she had lost her son after birth. Now as a grown divorced woman who works in New York City, she received the call from her best friend Bryce that her aunt's inn was in disrepair and it needs to be sold. She flew to Catalina Cove in New Orleans and sped away in a Corvette to her former hometown. SThat's when she ran into Sheriff Sawyer Grisham, a widower with a teenage daughter, who pulled her off and gave her a ticket. At that first meeting, sparks fly across the sky between them, and they later had a casual relationship with each other. Vashti had plans to sell her aunt's inn and return to New York, but for Sawyer, he had convinced her otherwise before she left at the airport. It took her awhile for her to agree to it. And when she returned, she visited Ms. Gertie, a woman with dementia, and a midwife in her community, who knew a secret about her past: her parents lied to her about everything, when they had outright denied it. It began to question her more as she hired a PI to get to the truth, while she made plans to restore her aunt's inn in good shape and to stay in Catalina Cove. The relationship between Vashti and Sawyer had became exclusive, when she later discovered the truth about the baby that she unknowingly gave up for adoption had a surprising twist or two in the end.

This was a passionate and sensual contemporary romance. I did like the seaswept locations of New Orleans, New York City, Sacramento, and even in Waco, Texas. I did love the small-town community of Catalina Cove came together and supported Vashti now, unlike how they did it in the past. I did care for Vashti and what she went through in the beginning, and how she made a name of herself in Catalina Cove.  I did find Sawyer attractive for a hot molten piece of dark chocolate for eye-candy. This would make you want to fan yourself and drink a tall glass of water or two to cool you down with sizzling romance, non-stop action, suspense, and sparks of mystery.

The Clincher

In Lisa Preston's the Clincher, the first installment in the Horseshoer Mystery series, you'll be hooked and lassoed into the wild world of horseshoes and clinching.  Meet Rainy Day. She's a high school dropout who works for a barn in small-town Cowdry, Oregon, when she works as a horseshoer for barn. When she works for the Flying Cross ranch, her first assignment is for Patsy-Lynn Harper, who runs the ranch. Things tend to go well, except when later on, Patsy-Lynn turned up in a supposedly "suicide." Though Rainy doesn't know the Harpers real well, she became to suspect everyone who came close in contact with her: from her ranch-hands, herders, and even her step-son. And when the police ask her questions about rasps and other horseshoeing equipment, it brought back to the memories of her past. Of how life were unkind to her as a teenager, when she was forced to give up a baby, and when she met her landlord, Guy Kittridge, who was also the chef for the ranch. Though she pays his rent, they have a sweet kind of kindred relationship that he really cares about Rainy and wants a life with her. As Rainy investigates the prime suspect further from a missing mare, a pregnant mare, and missing tools, she runs into trouble of her own with Patsy's step-son Junior. And she becomes a victim of his wrath when she suspects him of killing Patsy. When Guy saves her, it would be up them to stop him before he gets away with murder.

This was an interesting and intriguing introduction to this series. You get to learn a lot about horseshoeing and clinching and how to take care of horses in a ranch. I did care for Rainy and how she had dealt with so much in the past, and in the present as the only female clincher in Cowdry, Oregon. I did care for Guy, who seems to be good for her, and is also there for her in every way. I did like the small-town location of Cowdry, Oregon, and the barn settings around it to paint a vivid picture. This would make you fall in love with horses and be compelled to read Rainy's story with non-stop action, drama, suspense, and hints of sparking mystery of every page.

The Black Widow

In Daniel Silva's The Black Widow, the 16th installment in the Gabriel Allon military/espionage series,  this novel focused on red-hot real-life events that's ongoing overseas today. For Gabriel Allon, he's a legendary art restorer and Israeli field operative who's supposedly "died" a year ago. But when ISIS attacks the Weinberg Center in France, it was up to him to come up with a plan to stop the known leader of the ISIS caliphate in his tracks. With his sources in Frances, English, USA and Israel, they had gathered intelligence from a ISIS recruiter that appeared valuable to them. And before they knew, ISIS had attacked Amsterdam before it was too late. With a little research, Gabriel found the perfect way to infiltrate ISIS by recruiting a French Palestinian doctor named Natalie Mizrahi. With vigorous training, they transformed her to Dr. Leila Hadawi and made her a "black widow",  a female recruit to mourn the loss of the dead as a suicide bomber. Before she knew it, Leila had been ingrained and met Safia Bourdane, a blonde "black widow" who started those attacks. And with their friendship, Natalie goes to Syria and learns about why they needed her services-later she discovered the real reason: to treat the monster known as Saladin and to gain his confidence by tending to his medical needs. She did that and later learned what he would be up to and the next target would be in the USA. Now it would be up to Natalie to inform Gabriel before it would be too late for the final attack...

This was an amazing and a mesmerizing espionage thriller that deals with real-life issues in current events.  I did care for Gabriel as a newly doted father who was about to embark on a new role, though his first wife Leah was catatonic with the emotional scars of the past twenty years ago. I also cared for Natalie on how she chose to undergo a dangerous operation and risked her life for it. I do see some sparks between her and Mikhail as he cared for her. The vast locations that spread from the Middle East, Europe and the USA were vividly enticing and compelling with every action-packed scenic setting. This would have you at the edge of the seat with non-stop action, suspense, drama and hard-core intrigue.

Dangerously Dark

In Colette London's Dangerously Dark, the second installment in the Chocolate Whisperer Culinary Cozy mystery series, this one would hook you and tempt you on the first page. When Hayden Mundy-Moore first arrived in Portland, she was there to help her best friend Carissa with her wedding details as her matron of honor. But right before Carissa could say "I Do", her fiancé is found dead in the trailer for the Chocolate After Dark tour. While Carissa grievedthe loss for Declan Murphy, it was up to Hayden to do some snoop and check out the CAD tour from Cartaroma. But as Hayden and her bodyguard Danny observe the people of the tour, they took a real good look into Declan's life. Hayden came across a poisoning of sort in her own drink, an accidental shelving incident, and multiple scare tactics to throw her off the tracks of the culprit. She suspected the people who knew Declan best, even Carissa, since it seemed that everyone had a motive to do him in by liquid nitrogen. And when one of her prime suspects had figured it out, she ended up in a car accident that almost claimed her life. While Hayden and Danny had bet their money on whodunit, Hayden had later suspected the one who had harmed her in a toxic face-off.

This was another delectable culinary cozy installment that had scrumptious chocolate recipes at the back of the book to try out. I did like the theme of a chocolate tour for this story line. I did care for Hayden and how she tried to help out Carissa the best she could under the circumstances. I also thought that maybe Danny's hiding his true feelings for her, while Travis seems to be an enigma behind the scenes. I did like the location of Portland and how chocolate making came to life. The settings were mesmerizing and compelling on every page. This would make you salivate for intense drama, entice you with non-stop action, and has fast-paced suspense in this bone-chilling cozy mystery.

When the Flood Falls

In J.E.  Barnard's When the Flood Falls, the first installment in the Falls Mystery series, this gripping debut will send you chills all over from the first page to the last. Lacey McCrae was an ex-Mountie in  Bragg Creek, when they prepare for the flood of the Eagle River. And while she worked for a security farm, her friend Deandra "Dee" Phillips asked her for her help with a particular issue. She believed that someone's been stalking her. So she informed her boss to set up some video surveillance. But things get heated up when she dealt with protestors, partying hockey players, and a security job at the museum. As she dug deeper into Dee's case, she had a line of suspecting including Dee's ex and her own issues of PTSD from her abusive husband. At the night of the gala, things got weary and suspicious with the people who were there. And when Dee was a victim of a hit-and-run, things might've got personal when Lacey sought up help from her friends and neighbors. She learned how she lost a dog last winter and other juicy tidbits. When she shed light into Jarrad Fiske, a hockey player, he turned up missing and later dead in the river. Somehow he ended up caught in the middle of a scandalous taped mess when she later learned in the thick of things, who was the truly culprit was in the middle of the flood.

This is a compelling tale that sets around in Calgary/Bragg Creek Canada. I did love the locations set around the Calgary regional area that took place for the story. The scenic settings was enticing and so vivid to pop on the screen. I did care for Lacey who had dealt with so much before a career change and a new location to call home. I also cared for Dee who endured so much from having a rat for an ex-husband to have someone stalk her and almost killing her. This would leave you hooked on the first page with non-stop action, bone-chilling drama, intense suspense and a lot of mystery.

The Eagle Catcher

In Margaret Coel's The Eagle Catcher, the first installment in the Wind River Reservation serial mystery series, if you're a fan of Tony and Anne Hillerman's novels, you would enjoy this series. It all started when Father John O'Malley had found Harvey Castle's dead body inside of his tipi. That's when he alerted the BIA and the tribal police about his findings. They start looking for answers and pinpoint the blame to his nephew Anthony, who had a heated argument with him before his murder. Father John called Vicky Holden, who was half-Arapaho and half-Caucasian, to represent him. While the police believe they have found the man, both Vicky and Father John think otherwise and dug a little bit deeper into Harvey's office to look for answers. Along the way, they point their fingers to other suspects which included Ned Cooley, who's running for governor of Wyoming, and Jasper Owens, a wealthy oilman. The closer they get to know the truth, the more things take a drastic turn when Father John gets assaulted and Vicky gets abducted by the suspect. Together, they would learn the real history behind the motive in a gripping life-and-death showdown that would leave you at the edge of your seat.

This was a great introduction to the Wind River Reservation mystery series. We get to learn more about the Arapahos and how they were treated in the past--and even in the present. I did care about Father John and how he helped his parishioners on the reservation. I also cared about Vicky who gave up so much after a difficult marriage to be her own person. I loved how the scenic settings came to life from the reservation and outside of city limits for each location. This would have you hooked with nonstop drama, action, intense intrigue, and plenty of mystery to make you ask who in the end.

The Moscow Sleepers

In Stella Rimington's The Moscow Sleepers, the 10th installment in the Liz Carlyle espionage thriller series, this novel follows a riveting tale that could take place in our own country. For Liz Carlyle, an agent with MI5, it all started when a mysterious Swiss man visited a Russian man in an American hospice before he died. That started the investigation on who the man was and what he was after, when the FBI had contacted London. With a thorough background search, they followed the leads to a mysterious school called the Bartholomew Manor in Southwold. For Liz and her partner Peggy Kinsolving, they dig a little bit deeper into what made that school so unsavory and what purpose did they have to teach refugee students computer skills. Before it unraveled faster than a ball of yarn, one of their own agents, Bruno MacKay, did his own investigation in Russia and discovered the truth between two Russian brothers while in Germany, Dieter Nimitz thought he had knew his wife Irma. But she had her own secrets of her own to share and she's connected to the English school. When the secretary wound up dead and a brave student escaped the school, things heated up and took a dangerous turn for Mi5 and in Germany, when they managed to tie up loose ends and extract Bruno out safely before his cover would be blown.

This was a compelling and intriguing spy thriller from Dame Stella Rimington, who worked in Mi5 many years ago. I did care for Liz and how she managed to piece together the clues into this case even if she did reunite with Richard Pearson, a former flame, and a chief constable who worked the same case. I did like how she helped Peggy land the promotion and how she managed to get out of the creepy school carefully. I thought Peggy was gripping and an interesting person. I loved the vast variety of locations from Vermont, London, Berlin and Moscow--each had a stellar and mesmerizing scenic settings for each point of the story. This would keep you hooked into every page with non-stop action, high-stakes drama, intense suspense and a lot of mystery going on.

On Magnolia Lane

In Denise Hunter's On Magnolia Lane, the third installment in the Blue Ridge inspirational romance series, this newest novel would uplift your heart and make you feel God's love. Daisy Pendleton had an idyllic life in Cooper Creek, Georgia. She worked at a floral shop with her mother and grandmother when a mysterious woman entered her store to request a bouquet of flowers. That made Daisy curious and to follow her the next time she spotted her.. and that was at her late father's grave.  When she confronted her, she learned the shocking trust about her father's infidelity and that they could be half-sisters. Blindsided by this devastating blow, they had a DNA test to confirm the allegations and it turned up true. She had always thought good things about her father and never thought it would shatter her life like broken glass. She didn't think she would be a perfect wife for Jack with all f her misgivings. Besides all this, Pastor Jack McReady had been in love with Daisy for two years at his church. But he had never found the place or time to tell her. He had known her as a friend and her pastor. And with some encouragement from a friend, he created a profile on the online dating app Flutter as "TJ." From there, they started a friendship when they talked freely about each other and had gotten to know each other better about their own lives. She confronted Jack about what's going on her with her mother and how she helped create a fundraiser for the Hope House's repairs. While things were getting a bit too close for Daisy and Jack aka "TJ", she dealt with the betrayal that her mother knew about her father's affair and how he fathered Julia, Daisy's half-sister. With a little encouragement, things came to ahead at the concert, when she discovered the truth behind "TJ" and how she had forgiven his deceit later when they had finally found each other in the rain with a happy ending of their own.

This was an endearing and lovely new installment in the Blue Ridge series. These novels are so inspirational and lifts your heart with well-written and moving words about trusting God and finding love. I cared for Daisy and how she helped Millie's reading issues, how she's close with her family, and how she helped the Hope House. She also reserved a special place in her heart for Pastor Jack and didn't know the truth about how he felt about her until it bit her on the nose. I cared for Jack and how she cared for Daisy and didn't mind her dyslexic issues. I loved how he cared for the church and for his growing community while he was enlightening everyone with nothing but gospel and the truth around him, even for his feelings for Daisy. I loved the scenic settings and lovely locations around Cooper Creek and how this community came together for a fundraiser for a good cause. This would  make you believe with your heart with non-stop action, drama, suspense, and a hint of sweet romance.

Tomb With a View

In Casey Daniels's Tomb With a View, the 6th installment in the Pepper Martin paranormal cozy series, this newest mystery had a hint of historical flair to add the drama. For Pepper Martin, she's about to host a commemoration on President James A. Garfield for the Garden View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. But there seem to be a snag and a big problem. Her name was Marjorie Klinker, the newest volunteer member who claims she's related to Garfield as a know-it-all. She's giving everyone at the cemetery a hard time including Pepper. And when she's about to show off her surprise to Pepper, she wound up dead. Someone must've pushed her over the edge. Now it was up to Pepper to solve the mystery with a hand from President Garfield's ghost who seems to haunt the tomb and haven't crossed over yet. As Pepper deals with a love triangle between Scott from the FBI and Quinn from the Cleveland PD, she has more than enough to deal with like a con man named "Jack" and a stalker. While Pepper tries to solve the puzzle by figuring out whodunit and why, she becomes the next victim on the killer's list if he doesn't get what he wants fast.

This was another interesting installment in this paranormal cozy series. It had been a long time since I read one of the books from the series. Once again, I loved how Pepper gets entangled into a chilling murder mystery and have two handsome men fight for her love and affection. I do think her red hair and freckles are attractive and highlights her best features. I wish Quinn could cut her some slack and give her some credit when it's due. I do think he has feelings for her. I did love how there was a bit of a creative nonfiction historical bit to add to the twist. I do love the Cleveland area to set the scene and make those locations visually eye-popping on every page. This would keep you in suspense with non-stop action, a hint of intrigue, a splash of mystery, and plenty of drama to make you want more.

Will you be stopping by to check out the Tomb with a View tonight?

When Lightning Strikes

In Brenda Novak's When Lightning Strikes, the first installment in the Whiskey Creek contemporary romance series, you'll get swept up with this tenderhearted love story. Simon O'Neal is a notorious actor who ended up in trouble and causing a few scandals of his own. Gail De Marco is his former publicist as her PR company is ending up in dire straits. But with the whim of a proposal to clean up his image, they had a marriage of convenience for two years. And with a no-sex rule attached to it, they made a break from LA to go to Whiskey Creek,  Gail's hometown. But everyone didn't think it would last--her brother and father, even her own friends. But within time, they've gotten to know him better. This marriage had a couple of speed bumps along the way which included Simon's own father, a leak to the press, and a scheming ex-wife he would do anything to win him back. Suddenly, both Gail and Simon fell in love with each other and make magic of their own to weather a storm and make it a real marriage more than ever.

This was a lovely contemporary romance.  I did cared for Gail and how she was set out to help Simon out. She also wanted to prove everyone wrong that she could make it work. I also cared for Simon who wanted to make a name for himself without his father's help or his ex-wife Bella trying to screw him over.  I did love the dual locations of Whiskey Creek and Los Angeles, California and how the scenic settings were visual from Hollywood to small-town life. This would make you fall in love with this love story with non-stop action, plenty of intense drama, romance, and a hint of mystery.

She ran into her brother's best friend, Chief Ben Lawson, someone she once had the hots for. But ever since she stepped into town, someone's been watching her every move. Of course, she kept her secrets about what she did for a living, but all she wanted to do was please her parents. She kicked up a storm when she reunited with Lori Love, an old friend of hers from high school. But no matter what she does, someone's been stalking her and perhaps frightened her too. And when she called Ben to help her out, she thought it was nothing. And as for Ben, he's been a bit intrigued on what Molly does and what's so secretive about her ex-boyfriend who's manipulative as hell. But whenever they get a chance, they turned up the heat and steam up the room with hot passionate sex. And when her secret's out, it changes everything and put their lives on the line on who wanted to hurt her and why.

This was a steamy and red-hot contemporary romance from start to finish. This had some bits of humor and plenty of steamy hot sex to fog up the scenes. I did care about Molly and how she made a name for herself with her own chosen career. I did think she did more than lit up a couple of sparks whenever she's with Ben. I think they make a perfect couple together. I did think Cameron was a narcissistic and pompous ass. I had found Ben a charming police officer who didn't know who or what he was getting into it. I adored Tumble Creek as a idyllic small town with vivid and mesmerizing scenic locations. This would keep you enticed and thirsty for more with nonstop action, suspense, intrigue and lots of intense drama.

The Antiquities Hunter

In Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff's The Antiquities Hunter, the first installment of the Gina Myoko Mystery series, this would send you on a swagbuckling adventurous journey that's a cross between Lara Croft and Indiana Jones. Gina Myoko is a private detective and decided to help her best friend Rose, an agent for the National Park Service, look for clues on who's been stalking her. But when her best friend ends up in a coma from a car accident, it's up to Gina to head to Mexico to track down a powerful antiquities hunter. But for Gina, who's petite, half-Russian and half-Japanese, she comes across Dr. Cruz Veras, an archeologist and a journalist at the same time, who's after the same goal. And when they first found a black market dealer dead, they would have to pull off an undercover stint to get the goods on the ring leader and his ring, even if she has to ward off his advances from him. The closer they get to the truth and learn more about Mexican gods and goddesses of the past in a temple, they ended up trapped in a lethal serpentine labyrinth when Gina learns who betrayed them and why in a struggle for life and death.

This was an interesting and mesmerizing mystery series debut. It has a lot of fast-pace action and lots of intense drama on every page. I cared for Gina, who's diverse as you can get, who's making her name for herself as a private detective, and wants to find her own love interest without her mother's matchmaking. She could pack a punch and whip out a pistol too. I did think Cruz is a possible match for her as they make a helluva team. He's a bit of hot Mexican eye-candy and easy on the eyes. I did love the dual locations of San Francisco and Mexico and the gripping scenic settings that takes us from jungles, to archeological sites and temples, and beyond. We did learn a bit of archeological and mythical information along the way. This would make you swoon and buckle up with tons of suspense and sparks of mystery to keep you hooked and guessing whodunit at the end.

After Nightfall

In A.J. Banner's After Nightfall, this gripping thriller would have you at the edge of your seat and would leave you jaw-dropping speechless. It all started at Marissa's engagement party with a close knit of family and friends. That's when her best friend Lauren acted strange and flirted with her fiance Nathan. She whispered she had something to tell her. But during the next day, she never got a chance to find out why, when she discovered Lauren's dead body on the beach. While the police believed she might had something to do with it, she would do anything to prove otherwise. She also became suspicious of other people including Nathan and his brother's wife Hedra. With every clue and piece of the puzzle, she didn't know what to believe when there were other clues that pointed elsewhere. She also had to dealt with Anna, her future step-daughter, and Nathan's ex Rianne. Little by little, Hedra had an accidental OD on medication and a neighbor of hers almost drowned and died. While Marissa recalled bits and pieces of her past with Lauren, she focused on who could do such a selfless thing to kill her best friend. The closer she had gotten to the truth, the most disturbing it would be on who would come after her next when it was right under her nose in an explosive climax.

This was a spine-tingling and shocking psychological thriller.  I did care for Marissa on how she loved her job as a speech therapist and had been in the center of attention of a hot mess. I did worry about her since Lauren's death and her suspicions on Nathan had put a strain in their engagement. I did feel bad for Anna, who had to overcome a speech impairment problem, and struggled with it again. I did think Nathan was a bit suspicious for his own reasons. I did love the majestic California location and the ground-breaking scenic settings from the shore and beyond. This has breath-taking non-stop action, heart-pounding drama, oodles of suspense and sparks of mystery that would keep you at the edge of your seat.

Will you be listening for whispers After Nightfall?

SEAL's Honor

In Megan Crane's SEAL's Honor, the first installment in the Alaska Force romantic suspense series,  this tale would sweep you off your feet and leave you cold all over. When Everly Campbell discovered her room mate's dead body, she ran away and escaped to Alaska to find someone from her past to help her. And when she tracked down Benjamin "Blue" Hendricks down, she needed him to protect her from who might be out to get here. For Blue, he had just finished his tour of duty with the Alaska Force military team and looked forward to take it easy. But he didn't expect to see Everly, a sister of one of his close friends, who he vowed not to get mixed up in. When she told him about her troubles, he wasn't looking forward on going back to Chicago, when he remained distant from his mother and step-father from over 20 years. And when they returned to Chicago, they stayed at his mother's place, looking for shelter to cover them as Blue deals with a heated and emotional conversation with his mother about the past. Besides that, Everly found out that someone ransacked her home before they torched it and set it on fire. This sent Everly running with Blue away from there as they look for more clues on who had killed Rebecca and why someone would be after her. Later, as they worked together, it bridged the distance between them and brought them closer, while Everly fell in love with him. And Blue wasn't looking for trouble, romance, or both to come his way. When they discover who had killed her, it brought them closer to the stone cold truth that hit closer to home. In the end, Everly returned to Alaska to go after Blue and make him hers forever as they pledge for their love together.

This was a terrific romantic suspense novel that hooked me from the first page. I loved the dual locations of Alaska and of Chicago, which both had vivid descriptions of the scenic settings that took me there. I cared for Everly who needed someone she could trust and how she dealt with this plight.  I loved how she did things on her own and how she got it done. I also cared for Blue on how he now looked forward to civilian life since he finished his tour with the Alaska Force. Though he didn't want to admit it, he did care for her, though he had a funny way of showing it. This would captivate you from the first page to the last with non-stop action, plenty of romance, lots of drama, and a hint of intrigue that would make you want an Alaska Force soldier for your own.

Will you be to check out SEAL's Honor today?

Delayed Justice

In Cara Putman's Delayed Justice, the third installment in the Hidden Justice inspirational thriller series, this would make you a believer of God and fight for the underdog.  Jaime Nichols is a public defender in the Washington D.C. Metro area and loved her job. But there was one thing that held her back, a secret she kept for the longest time: her uncle molested her when she was little girl. Now as an attorney, she did feel strong enough to tell her parents, her friends, and to inform others about the battle, when she decided to prosecute her uncle, Dane Nichols, before his nomination for an one-star general in the Army. And she never believed in God, when she had felt He had let her down. In the same apartment building, she met Chandler Bolton, an Army veteran who loves helping others deal with the transition and uses his dog Aslan as a comfort dog. Though when they first met, they had gotten off on the wrong foot and worked together toward together to help Tiffany Ange in a crisis, when her mother's boyfriend had assaulted her. It reminded Jamie when she was a little girl. While she fought against her uncle's threats and the potential loss of her job, Chandler had receives threatening calls from a mystery caller who would wish to see him harmed. Together they dealt with their inner demons, surrendered to their feelings, and let God lead the way to set things right with them in the end.

This was a truly exceptional and phenomenal inspirational thriller that tugged heart strings of my heart. I did really care for Jamie and how she dealt with that secret now and handled it the best she could. I did like her circle of friends who were there for her and supported her through everything by sending them lifelines and safety nets. I did like Chandler and Aslan, who make a hell of a team, and how they were there for Tiffany, Jamie, and other war veterans who were also in need. I did think they each had found their true callings that God provided them along the way and how they found each other. The scenic locations and the settings for the D.C. area was profoundly gripping, inside and outside the courtroom and Vet center. This would make you believe in God from the depth of your heart as you would sigh, shake your head, and take a big deep breath with non-stop action, suspense, drama and a hint of mystery.

Christmas in Whispering Pines

In Scarlett Dunn's Christmas in Whispering Pines, the third installment in the Christmas/historical romance series, this magical novel would warm your hearts and get you ready for the holiday season.  Clay Hunt had been a happily married rancher in Kansas until tragedy struck: his wife and son were killed, his beloved horse went missing. Four years later, Clay arrives in Whispering Pines, Colorado, and is a preacher of the local church. Though he had given up the search for the cold-blooded murderers who killed his family, he made piece with it and moved on. And that's when he met Emma Langtry, a successful opera singer who toured across the country and visited her family. When he first met her and heard her enchanting voice, he had been smitten with her. As for Emma, she loved Granny and her sisters and brothers-in-law. She wasn't ready to settle down and start a family. But things had changed when she met Clay as they had gotten off in the wrong foot. Along the way, trouble's on the horizon when Emma's brother Frank comes to town and stirs up trouble with his girlfriend Leigh King. Everyone's not pleased to see him, since he had killed his own brother earlier on. During a snowstorm, things heat up for Emma and Clay, when a French prince wants Emma as his own, and a blast from Clay's past resurfaces. In the end, they surrendered their feeling and had a happy ending around Christmas to count their blessings and their own lucky stars.

This was a magical and enchanted Christmas/historical romance novel.  I did care for Emma and how she found her true soul mate in Clay Hunt. I believe her music is a gift from Heaven and a wonderful talent. I did despite Frank for all reasons and purposes. But I did feel sorry for Clay for losing his family to a selfless and cruel act. But I'm glad he moved on and was ready to give love another chance, one to start it with Emma.  I did love the brief scenes in Kansas and the scenic scenes in Denver, Black Hawk, and Whispering Pines--even in between towns during the storm. This would make you fall in love with miracles and get you ready for the holiday spirit with non-stop action, sparks of mistletoe-planted romance, a heap of drama, and tons of Christmas joy.

Will you spend Christmas in Whispering Pines tonight?

The Breakup Doctor

In Phoebe Fox's the Breakup Doctor, the first installment in the Breakup Doctor woman's fiction series, this debut would put a smile on your face and feel better too. Meet Brook Ogden. She just lost her practice and is out of work. While she plans to start her own practice, her best friend Sasha develops a plan for her--to start her own column for her newspaper. And thus the "BreakUp Doctor" column had started when she helped everyone with their relationship woes, including Sasha's boss Lisa. When the column took off in the paper, she became a hit and then had a patient list, even when she did a news segment for a local TV program. But everything in Brook's life wasn't a smooth as her newfound career. When she planned to say yes to moving in with Kendall, it caught her off guard when he dumped her and said he wasn't ready for it. That had spiraled her life out-of-control, when she tried to deal with her breakup and how she reacted from it, even landing a trip to the county jail.  Plus her mother had a midlife crisis to renew her theater career,  and her best friend was having a secret relationship with her brother. As she tries to pick up the pieces of her life, she needed to give herself some therapy of her own to move on from the hurt and to find someone to heal her broken heart.

This was a heart-warming and splendid debut in the Breakup Doctor series. I did care for Brook and how she handled a lot of things going on in the same time. I did feel for her and how she cared for her family and how she tried to mend her broken heart. I did think Sasha was a hoot, when there were many laugh out loud humorous moments. I think we can all learn from Brook's advice on how we deal with broken relationships, partnerships, and even marriages. I did love the Fort Myers location and how every scenic location popped on every page with intricate detail. This would make you laugh, cry, shake your head, and then let out a huge sigh in the end with hints of romance, non-stop drama, plenty of action, and a spark of intrigue.

Angels Burning

In Tawni O'Dell's Angels Burning, this story is so mesmerizing and gripping on how a senseless tragedy can shock a small town. It all started for finding a dead body of a young girl for Chief Dove Carnahan of the Buchanan PD. Not only she was dead, she was also burnt as well. It was up for Dove to get to the heart of the matter and find out who killed Camio Truly and why. Besides all of this, she deals with an unpleasant visit from Lucky, an ex-con who's been released from prison for her mother's murder. He believed he's innocent and wants to sue Dove and her half-sister Neely for lying at court. While Dove looked into the shaky background of the Truly family, a poor redneck family who's a close-knit family, they gave her a hard time and point the finger to Zane Massey, Camio's boyfriend. One by one, she picked up the pieces of Camio's last hours before she was killed and took a real closer look on who her family is. At this time, Champ, her half-brother, dropped by to pay her a short visit with his nine-year-old son, and then later disappears unexpectedly. He'd been living a hard life with a drinking problem. Dove and the Buchanan PD figured one of the Truly family members as the culprit when they learned about Camio's little secret to disturb more than a hornet's nest. In the end, the truth would be revealed on what happened to Dove's mother and who killed Camio and why with a twisted ending.

This was a twisted and dark psychological thriller about a shocking murder in a small town. I did feel for Dove as she handled a family crisis and a disturbing crime to darken her doorstep. She didn't let anyone intimidate her or give her a hard time when she did things by the book.  I do like her casual relationship with her colleague Nolan and how she got along with Neely so well. I did feel bad for Camio for losing her life for a senseless crime committed by someone she loved. I did like the scenic picturesque location of Buchanan PA for this novel from every intricate stop along the town's landscape and beyond. This would make you want to bite your nails, hold your breath, and shake your head a few times with non-stop action, drama, suspense, and plenty of mystery to keep you guessing straight to the end.

Nanostrike

In Pete Barber's Nanostrike (aka Allah's Revenge), this gripping thriller has a realistic story line that could be ripped from the sidelines. It all started with a London subway attack when Detective Sargent Investigator Steven Quinnborne was on the case and butted heads with his former partner. With CCTV footage, they witnessed the madness and the mayhem on what caused it and who caused it. Back in Jordan, they was a named Nadar Eudon, who was the CEO of his own oil company and decided to convert it to ethanol. He also wanted someone on his team to program nanobots for the production of ethanol for his company. He did select two Muslims to help him with the process, while someone else wanted to destroy Eudon and have those virginbots of their own. For David Baker, it was a journey to Mecca to devote his time to Allah, and for Abdul, who fell in love with Adiba, when he was a young journalist caught up in this mess. Eudon has a mind of his own and his assistant might have her own motives. When Adiba goes missing, he meets Ghazi to go find her and cross borders. Quinn would do anything to track down Eudon and help find Adiba and her abducted sister Lana. From there, they would make a deal with the devil himself to go to Jordan and beyond to put a stop of a mass destruction of a nanobot attack who had killed thousands of people. It would be up to him to stop it before it spreads havoc in Arizona and before people's lives would be lost in the end.

This was a real fascinating read and a compelling concept too.  I did care for Quinn on how he traveled across the world to get to the heart of the murder. I did feel for Adiba and Abdul, who had seem to find a match within each other, and had overcome a lot of obstacles. I did like the vast set of locations from Arizona, London, and even to the Middle Eastern region. It had real fascinating and amazing scenery from one spot to another to have set for a techno-thriller plot. This would make you want to turn the page and hold onto your seat with non-stop action, suspense, lots of mystery and tons of drama.

Will you be there to stop the next Nanostrike tonight?

A Killing by the Sea

In Kathleen Bridge's A Killing by the Sea, the 2nd installment in the By the Sea cozy mystery series, this installment would sweep you off your feet and captivate you with heightened suspense. For Liz Holt, her life couldn't be better as a writer and living in Melbourne Beach, Florida. But besides the continuous babble with her great-aunt Amelia and her friend Susannah Shay for a part in the play called the Bat, things do get dramatic along the shore. It all started with Liz finding a dead body along the ocean. She already knew it was her family friend Minna's nephew Dylan, a photographer who was making a name for himself as an underwater cinematographer. When she learned about the news, she begins to dig deeper on who caused his death and why. Things are getting deeper for Liz and her boyfriend Ryan, when they might take their relationship up to the next level. But when she ran into Jake, a friend of Dylan, she became suspicious of him and his latest actions. Then Minna's house had a fire and nothing was missing or damaged, except for one thing. Then she took a closer look into Jake's background and learned more about the ship Poseidon and what it has been up to.. including a new murder from a local billionaire. As she pieced together the pieces to this twisted puzzle, it thickened the pot before things got hotter during a hurricane storm to found out who done it and why.

This was a great new cozy mystery to try and add to my TBR list for future reading. This one intrigued me from the title to the story line. I did care for Liz and how she handled all of the drama in her family and even in her own love life. I loved how she cared for others in her community and how she pieced everything thing together from the small bits to the big chunks of the puzzle. I also found Ryan a charming man and attractive eye-candy as well. I loved the Melbourne Beach backdrop with mesmerizing descriptive settings and amazing locations on every scenic page. This would make you want to plank the proverbial plank and take a big deep in the water with drama, non-stop action, suspense and a hint of mystery.

Swamped

In Sandy Gingras's Swamped, the first installment in the Lola Polenta cozy mystery series, this debut would keep you hooked on every page. Lola left her husband  and teaching career in New Jersey and headed for the hills to live in Florida to start a new life. She started talking PI lessons over the Internet and lives in a trailer park community near the Everglades. But when one of her neighbors wounded up clobbered in the head with a golf club, it was up to Lola to talk to her neighbors. She learned that her former neighbor blackmailed them and vowed to keep their secrets. Each one of them had a motive to kill him, except for Joe, who becomes Lola's newest friends. She also had a crush on Detective Johansen who was on the case, a single father with a teenage daughter, as they had butted heads from time to time. The closer Lola gets into the truth, the more she becomes swamped with more suspicions on her neighbors, when one of them would stop her from finding out for good.

This was a charming cozy debut. I did care for Lola and how she made a fresh start in Florida out of all places. I did think she would make a great PI if she put her heart into it some more. I did think she might wind up in a love triangle with Joe her neighbor or Dave the police detective. I did like the Florida swampland area for an interesting setting for a trailer park. I did think Squirt has a charming nickname and that some of Lola's neighbors were a bit suspicious to say the least. This would keep you on the toes and make you want to read more with drama, non-stop action, intrigue and a scoop of mystery.

Don't be Swamped and check this out today!

One Foot in the Grave

In Jeaniene Frost's One Foot in the Grave, the 2nd installment in the Night Huntress paranormal romance series,  this novel would have you laughing at the moon and sent chills through your spine. For Cat Crawfield, she works for a secret organization that  dispatches vampires by taking them through the heart. When she was on assignment in Ohio, they lost a member of the team. Later, while she tried to have a  semi-normal life, she found a new love to replace the hole in her heart from her former lover.  But during her best friend's wedding, someone came after her and tried to kill her.  And the only person who could save her was Bones, a vampire who she fell in love for, and still have old feelings for. While she rehashed old wounds with him, the feelings she had for him remained the same.  In order to get everyone on the same team as her, they would have to deal with her and her true half-breed origins and tracking her vampire father Max down. The chemistry  between them was red-hot and the stakes were higher to go after the head of another vampire line and bring down the house by sealing her own fate with Crispin in a daring way.

This was a sexy and fiery paranormal romance. This has a lot of red-hot romance and some good elements of humor too. I did care for Cat and how she took charge of her half-breed origins. I did how she would do the world of good by hunting down vampires and still light up the pages with her sizzling chemistry with Crispin aka Bones. They really set the pages together and Bones alone is a hoot and a sexy fiend to boot. I did like the dual locations of Ohio and Virginia, both day and night, which has eye-popping and vivid scenery. This would make you curl your toes and raise the hairs at the back of your neck with romance,  mystery, non-stop action and intense sexy drama on every page.

Broken Windows

In Paul D. Marks's Broken Windows, the 2nd installment in the Duke Rogers PI mystery series, this compelling tale that could've been ripped from the headlines. For famed private investigator Duke Rogers, who had been notoriously famous for catching the killer of the Teddie Matson case, a new case had landed and darkened on his Hollywood doorstep. When actress Susan Karuvian jumped off the Hollywood sign as a suicide, it made news headlines. But when Marisol Rivera asked Duke to help find her brother's killer, he might be a little over his head. With his partner Jack Riggs, they've encountered the Hollywood PD and all sorts of swarmy characters along their way including some dirty politicians, a crooked priest, and the Proposition 187 bill on illegal aliens. Little did they know, they were being followed by a well-known drug smuggler who wanted them stopped and to catch their every move. When Marisol turns up missing and later ends up dead, it was nothing but personal to find her killer and to make the connections to an illegal human smuggling ring. In the end, they would shake down the criminals and put a stop to things before someone else gets hurt.

This was a real good mystery from Paul Marks. It had a lot of various good elements to almost make it as an excellent thriller. I did care for Duke as a PI, who cared for his dog Molly, and had a good partnership with Jack. I loved how he worked together with him when they tied everything together in this twisted case. I did feel bad for Marisol and almost wished she didn't up dead as a loose end. I loved the Hollywood scenery and the compelling scenery to take me right there in Hollywood and behind. This would make you shake you head, grimace and groan, hold your breath, and hang on for a wild ride with non-stop drama, action, suspense, and plenty of mystery to keep you hanging on every page.

What I've Done

In Melinda Leigh's "What I've Done", the fourth installment in the Morgan Dane romantic suspense series, this gripping novel would take you on a wild and dangerous ride. It all started when Haley Powell had awakened in a puddle of blood and in a land of confusion.  Then she was accused of killing Noah Carter, her date for the night. For Morgan Dane,  a lawyer, a widow, and a single mother of three young girls, she had just been assigned to the case, courtesy of her friend Lincoln Sharp, who works for her law firm. After she had been decked by her former client when he didn't want to make a deal, she had taken some hard knocks. And then she took Haley's case and learned more about Haley's past and also about the victim's past. She encountered a couple of protesters, death threats, and plenty of scare tactics that included thrown rocks at Lance's car. Some people would do anything to throw the suspicion off themselves and cause the innocent a scare or two. For Morgan, and her boyfriend, Lance Kluger, her investigator for her firm, they look into the hard evidence from Haley's ex to Noah's best friends. From there, they connected the dots to the recent missing persons case in the news and one from the past. And like it or not, they would tooth and nail to clear her name, and would stop for nothing in a life and death manner.

This was a super and fantastic romantic suspense novel. I did feel sorry for Haley and how she had gotten sucked into this mess as an innocent pawn. I did care for Morgan and Lance, who together make the perfect team in court and outside of it. I'm so happy for Morgan to find a new love to help her take care of her young daughter who dote on him. I loved how she took control of a hard situation and let no one or nothing to slow her down. I loved the NYC location and how it made the scene pop in vibrant color and great details. This would make you gasp and bite your lip a few times and to buckle your seatbelt for a wild ride with non-stop action, sparks for romance, drama and plenty of suspense to keep you hooked on every page.

The Switch

In Joseph Finder's The Switch, this gripping thriller would have you at the edge of your seat.  When businessman Michael Tanner accidentally picked up the wrong laptop at the airport, he became embroiled into a deep mystery. As the owner of Tanner Roast, a coffee bean company, he needed to make a big move with a big deal. But when he discovered he had the wrong laptop, he became even more curious on what he had uncovered. Back in Washington D.C., Senator Susan Robbins would do anything to stop someone from leaking out her top-secret agenda to the press. And she would make sure her chief of staff, Will Abbott, would do anything to bring the laptop back or to stop it from happening. Meanwhile, when he told his friend Landon, he became over-excited about this secretive story to report it in the paper. Before that could happen, he wounded up dead, potentially a suicide. Besides Abbott, there were other people who would stop to nothing from getting the word out including the Russians and the NSA. It's now up to Michael to do the right thing even if his life had depended on it and to set things right, once and for all, in an explosive ending.

This thriller had a great storyline that could've been ripped from the headlines. I did love the dual locations of Washington D.C/Maryland and of Boston. It was filled with strong writing on the descriptions and the settings had excellent visuals to take you right there. I did care for Michael and how he would get himself out of this situation and back together with Sara. I did like his friends Carl and Landon and had thought Susan and Will was a bit slimy as they could get the laptop. This would make you do a headshake and gasp a couple of times with shocking twists on every page with non-stop action, drama, suspense, and intrigue to keep you hooked.

Will you be there to see the switch today?

The Marsh King's Daughter

In Karen Dionne's The Marsh King's Daughter, this standalone thriller will have you at the edge of your seat in every single page. For Helena Pelletier, she had once lived an ideal life with her husband and two daughters. But when word around about her father's prison break, it shattered the peacefulness she shared with her family in Michigan. She had hidden a dark secret about her upbringing, her parents, and who she used to be. And that might splinter her marriage like a shard of glass.  As she sent her husband and two young daughters away, she promised herself that she would track him down right to the end. As she trailed him, she flashbacked to where she lived in the cabin with her mother and narcissistic and abusive father, how she learned to live outdoors from the outside world. There was so much out there she didn't know about until her mother concealed the truth from her and betrayed her trust. While she followed in his footsteps through the marshy lands, she recalled how cruel he was to her mother and to her, and how she planned their escape to turn him in. Later, she caught up to him in a face-to-face battle to fight for her survival and to save her marriage in an intense climax.

This was a nail-biting and mind-blowing thriller. I loved the vast locations of the marsh lands in Michigan from the rustic cabin in the past to where it is in everyday present life. I loved the intricate descriptions and visual images of each and every setting to tell this story. I instantly cared for Helena and how she endured and thrived as a young child in a complex household and how she grew up to take care of her own young family. She became no ordinary heroine who had emotional scars that were too hard for her to contain and to conceal. This would make you want to root for her in this ultimate fight of survival of life and death with non-stop action, drama, suspense and mystery.

Will you join forces to stop her father in The Marsh King's Daughter tonight?

Halcyon

In Rio Youers's Halcyon, this thriller has elements of the Lord of the Flies with a modern day twist. Think of "Hotel California" by the Eagles:  "You can check out, but you can never leave..." That's what happened to Martin Lovegrove and his family in this chilling and disturbingly dark thriller. Martin Lovegrove is a well-respected architect in New York City and has a happy life with his two daughters, Edith and Shirley, and still in love with his wife Laura. But when Edith experiences some kind of "night terrors" in the night, it's enough to wake more than the death. She had witnessed the tragic devastation of the Buffalo car bombing in her mind right after it happened. With a bit of probing, they learned she had a special psychic ability at night and had learned to use positive energy. But later, she had "streamed" a high school shooting and her mother's death. For Valerie Kemp, she's a twisted soul who had been a victim of a sadistic fetish group and dealt with four years of abuse until she fought back in a violent way. Then she discovered Gray Peaks Island, which she had called Halcyon,  right on Lake Ontario, a safe haven for disillusioned American who deal with loss and grief, while she profits from her own greed. She manipulates the people to self-destruct and destroy other people's lives. But when Martin decides to check it out for himself with his family, it's not what it seems when they meet Valerie and learn about her sordid life in the past.  This paradise island is more than lost. And when Valerie learns about Edith's special "powers" from Shirley, she would have no choice to take matters into her own hands to get what she wants until the bitter end...

This was a gripping and compelling thriller that would leave you chilled from the first page to the last. I did care for Martin and his family and how they dealt with so many hardships during the storyline. I did feel bad for Edith who had to deal with her psychic powers and how she put them to good use. But I could see how Martin dealt with loss and how supported his two daughters, on and off the island. The private island in Lake Ontario was the perfect idyllic location along with some fantastic scenes on the mainland and in New Jersey too. This would make you want to shake your head a few times, bit your lip, and could feel the pull of the psychic energy from Edith on every page.
This has non-stop action, drama, suspense, and intrigue in one mind-numbing novel.

Will you be tempted to go to Halcyon tonight?

As the Tide Comes In

In Cindy and Erin's Woodsmall's As the Tide Comes In, this emotional, heart-warming and tear-jerking Christian romance novel would make you shed tears and blow your nose a few times throughout the novel. For Tara Abbott, she lived in a foster care system and never knew much about her parents or grandparents. At age eighteen, her grandmother asked her to take care of her two younger half-brothers since she was dying from cancer. After she almost refused her, one look at them had sent her heart soaring and agreed to do so. For twelve years, she did everything she could to raise them and watch them grow up, graduate and spread their wings. But before they could do that, tragedy happened during a storm, when she was knocked out unconscious with a head injury. When she recovered, she later learned they didn't make it and they died in the cabin. Bereft from grief and confusion, she went to St. Simons Island to heal and find what she was looking for. That's when she met Gavin Burnside, a firefighter who had lived a hard life on the island. He once grew up overweight and had a special bond with a childhood friend named Siobhan. But his mother was stuck in debt from a tragic accident after his father died. Besides his mother, her three other friends had pseudo-adopted him as he grew up to an outstanding man he was today. When they crossed each other's paths, they learned a lot about life, love, and believing in God. While Tara continued to grief and recover, a connection between Gavin and her grew from friendship and then later blossomed to love, as she set a foot to find her own path to make a life out of herself and to fill her life with happiness and true love by God's hand.

This was so beautiful and heart-warming from beginning to end. It pulled at the heart-strings and made me crazy with a heavy heart. The Woodsmalls have a wonderful way to describe emotional heart-wrenching pain in fantastic prose. I did care for Tara as I watched her grow up and heal from her grief, how she made a name out of herself in her brothers' memory and how she followed her heart to go back home to Gavin. I did love Gavin and the Glynn Marsh Ladies in thier wonderful and tender story, when each of them dealt with life's surprises, both good and bad, and how they pulled together to help Tara find her own way home.  This would make you crazy and feel blessed by God with all of his miracles with non-stop action, drama, tender romance, and a hint of intrigue on every page.

Will you be there to find your way home as the tide comes in tonight?

The Secret History of the Pink Carnation

In Lauren Willig's The Secret History of the Pink Carnation, the first installment in the Pink Carnation historical romance series, this debut will sweep you off your feet and take you on an adventurous journey. For Eloise Kelly, an American who's writing a thesis on the Pink Carnation, a legendary hero that helped saved the English from the French Guillotine along with the Scarlet Pimpernel and the Purple Gentian in the same league.  She would have to go to England to read the manuscript from Lord Selwick's aunt over the span of that fortnight for her research. When she started reading, we're introduced to Amy Balcourt, a 20-year-old French woman who always looking for excitement and adventure, especially to see her brother Eduoard. In order to go there, her cousin Jane and her chaperone, her Aunt Gwen, must come with her on the boat ride. And that's what she met Lord Richard Selwick, an insufferable man who has a secret to hide. At first, they had gotten off on the wrong foot. But later, after Amy surprises her father, she becomes intrigued on the Purple Gentian's identity. And when she plotted to join his league, the Gentian was under her nose and kissed her passionately. That's when things get heated and intense between them, when Richard had to put his foot down. He had been broken-hearted before and didn't want to get his defenses down. But he tried not to get the best of him, when he must be jealous of his alter ego's self.  Instead of being in a compromising position, they both set out to thwart Delaroche by stealing the Swiss gold. And when he unmasked himself, it was up to Amy and Jane to become the Pink Carnation. While Amy fell in love and followed her heart to her greatest passion, she saved Richard and professed her true love for him... leaving a surprise twist on who was the Pink Carnation's true identity for future adventures...

This was a fantastic and excellent historical romance series. No wonder my sister-in-law had devoured her serial books in the past and loved it so much. This has a lot of excellent elements to keeps us from reading: romance, action, suspense, intrigue. I did care for Eloise who loves to dig into her research and needs to lighten her load a bit. But I did thik Colin Selwick is insufferable and could be her greatest adversial match.  I also have found Amy and Richard both daring and dashing, compelling and amazing, that they found their soul mate into each other. I loved the English and French dual locations with fascinating and eye-popping scenic scenes. This would make you swoon and sway, fan yourself, drink a tall glass of water, and become hooked from start to finish with non-stop action and adventure, plenty of romance, suspense and intrigue on every page.

Will you be swept away in the Secret History of the Pink Carnation today?
