The Den

In this blog post, I reviewed Cara Reinard’s The Den. This gripping domestic suspense thriller is twisted, dark, and keeps you guessing straight toward the end. It all started for Lucinda Fox, who came home to Pittsburgh to attend a benefit to honor her mother. But when her father suffered a stroke, it caused a ripple effect for her sister Valerie, her two brothers Christian and Jeremy, and even for their former nanny, Marian Vega. While they waited to hear their father’s prognosis, they learned about the Den, a special trust fund set up by their father Stefan Fox, in case anything should happen to their father. Meanwhile it caused sparks and other concerns between them. Christian wants to contest it, while the others don’t. But when he winds up in the fatal car accident, things change. Someone began to target them, one by one, until they were wiped out to claim the money. It’s up to Lucinda and Valerie to get down to the bottom of it before it’s too late for them. In a life-and-death battle, the surprising twist will leave you speechless and spine-tingling at the climax.

This compelling domestic suspense is dark and twisted with a gripping storyline premise. I cared for Lucinda, who was the unwanted child, and wanted so much to please the people who cared about her. I also cared for Valerie, who wanted to protect her daughter Isla, and give her a better future. The location of Pittsburgh painted the scenes well for the settings. The dual themes of the story is no one’s perfect, and greed is an evil sin when it comes to money and revenge.

This dark domestic suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat and make your head spin. I rated this book, four out of five stars for no reason.   If you love dark domestic thrillers with family issues, non-stop action, heart-stopping drama, and plenty of suspense,  you'll love The Den. It's recommended for fans who love Gone Girl and Hannah Mary McKinnon.

Into the Sound

In this blog post, I reviewed Cara Reinard's Into the Sound.  this thrilling new thriller will leave you breathless and speechless by the time you finished reading. It all started for Holly Boswell, a housewife and doting mother of two sons, and a former journalist, when she received a call from her older sister Vivian in the midst of the storm. She dropped everything and rushed to find her missing at the marina when she was too late and called the cops to help search for her. But what can she do other than to confront her brother-in-law Clayton, a sleazy lawyer who helps the bad guys in court, as a prime suspect. But his house of cards is about to come crashing down at him like a domino effect when his hidden secrets came pouring out into the public. While the press focused their attention out on him, Holly looked for clues to discover more about her sister's disappearance and reflected to their emotional abusive childhood with their mother who played manipulative mind games with them for her studies, it might her take a look at her marriage with Mark and how he controlled her all the time. The closer the truth she would be to finding out if  Vivian was dead or alive, the more she learned about more secrets from her youth to shed a dark light into their relationship with a startling ending you would never believe.

This was a fantastic mind-blown psychological thriller that would knock your socks off.  I did feel sorry for Holly and Vivian who were dealt with a rough childhood and turbulent marriages with their husbands. They both needed a fresh start and a clean break from them. Their mother and Clay both gave me the creeps. My heart went out to both Vivian and Holly since I cared for them both. I loved the picturesque location of Long Island and the scenic location in Sayville, New York. The theme of the story is dark in nature and not to keep secrets that would keep back to haunt you later.

If you love heart-pounding, spine-tingling dark thrillers that would give you goosebumps with non-stop action, plenty of twisted action and suspense, and chills all over, pre-order Into the Sound now!

Sweet Water

In Cara Reinard's newest domestic suspense debut, Sweet Water, this shocking tale will send bone-numbing shockwaves on every page from start to finish. For Sarah Denning, she had everything she could dream of when she married Martin Ellsworth, her college sweetheart, and lived in the life of luxury in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. But when Sarah and Martin discovers their son Finn next to a dead woman near the lake, it changed everything on what they did and didn't do. They left the crime scene and took their son back home for evaluation. She questioned everything about her relationship with Martin, like when she met him in college in flashbacks, and throughout her twenty-year marriage. The Ellsworth had political and law enforcement connections to control, manipulate, and distort everything like making evidence disappear to cover up their tracks. They've been doing it for year when law is powerful with money. As Sarah begins to learn more about what happened to Finn that night, the chain reaction of dominoes falls into place, and secrets resurface front and center. She's determined more than ever to discover the truth even if it might cost her everything until it came tumbling down when her house was set on fire. This gave her the encourage to free herself from her Martin and his family's house of cards to knock it down to the ground in a shocking and twisting ending you would never believe.

This was a fantastic new domestic suspense novel. I instantly cared about Sarah and what kind of relationship she had with Martin and what she would've had with Josh if he didn't say goodbye. We can see how she cares for her sons and how she tried to make things right even if it might cost her everything she had dear. She placed her heart on the line to discover so many cover-ups right from the beginning to cut to the heart of the matter. I rooted for her and felt the same disgust Martin and his family had done in the past.  I loved the location of Sewickley PA, when everything wasn't so sweet for Sarah like she'd first thought.  The scenic settings were mesmerizing to place you there. The theme is to secrets are bound to come out in the open if you don't do the right things.

If you love compelling and mind-numbing domestic suspense novels with twists and turns galore, non-stop action, plenty of heart-pounding suspense and tons of drama, pre-order Sweet Water today!

Pretty Dolls and Hand Grenades

In Cara Reinard's Pretty Dolls and Hand Grenades, this domestic suspense is so compelling and down to the nitty-gritty with real good drama. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. For CeCe Laramie, her perfect world had started to slip away from her. When she learned her husband Mitchell was having an affair with his younger red-haired assistant, she almost flipped her lid. Besides her marital troubles, she's been having blackouts, panic attacks, and a severe case of OCD. Her daughter Josie has an eating disorder, and her son Camdyn is fascinated with violent video games. She almost had it all, until he wanted a divorce to be with her.  Then she lost her friends and he had cut her off financially when she decided to get a job at the local coffee shop to lend a hand in the expenses. When she had thought of a way to bring them together, Mitchell believed she was lying.  But it didn't explain those headaches when she had blacked out. That's when she met a mystery Russian woman named "Dinah" who wanted to help her out since she had been wronged too. With secret meetings, they came up with a plan to bring her husband back to her and to drive his mistress away. But with every plot of revenge, she never thought it would get too far and real dangerous without getting anyone hurt or killed. As long as he had an alibi for each act, no one would suspect her of any wrong-doing.  At the end, when things come to a head, she learned who "Dinah" really was and had she kept the secret with an explosive happy ending.

This was a great and intriguing domestic suspense.  I did care for Cece and had she tried her best to keep her family together, while they were splitting apart. I did get a bit worried about her with her OCD and her blackouts, and how she put on a brave face on for her two kids. I didn't like Katelyn too much either. I did like the NYC and New Jersey dual locations and the compelling scenic scenes from start to finish. This would make you want to shake your head, gasp, and hang on tight, when it's loaded with non-stop action, drama, suspense and tons of mystery on every page.
