In Charlaine Harris's A Bone to Pick, the 2nd installment in the Aurora Teagarden cozy mystery series, she had given us a chilling cozy with this small town mystery. For Roe, it all started with her mother's remarriage and the funeral of Jane Engle, a close friend of Aurora's. First it began with the windfall that landed on her doorstep when she inherited her home and a load of money. And then she discovered a skull buried in Jane's old home. For this small town librarian, she had gotten to know Jane's neighbors and deliberated on staying or listing this home in this creepy neighborhood. While she discovered new feelings for love with the local minister Aubrey Scott, she had became the central focus when the skeleton was found down the road and learned that one of her neighbors had committed a crime or two in the past, when she had an unwanted visit at her own home.
This was another charming small town cozy mystery. I continued to care about Roe and how she dealt with her newfound wealth and her own security and feeling for Aubrey. I continued to love the small town location for this series. I thought some of her neighbors were a bit off. This cozy would give you a thrilling mystery with every page with drama, non-stop action, intrigue and a hint of romance.
Do you have a bone to pick with your neighbors today?

Grave Surprise
In Charlaine Harris's Grave Surprise, the 2nd installment in the Harper Connelly paranormal cozy series, the hunt for the truth continues in this cozy mystery. When Harper and Tolliver went to do a reading in a college class, they stumbled onto the discovery of a live body buried in the grave. With a shocking twist of a disturbing gravesite, they've found Tabitha Morgenstein who was found missing previously and turned up over here. From there, it was up for Tolliver and Harper to discover the truth, while the local FBI and authorities were breathing down their necks. While it had given some closure and peace of mind to her family, it wasn't all what it cracked up to be, when they uncover and unravel some harboring family secrets of petty jealousy. The closer they were to zeroing in on the perpetrator, they've had a close call of their own to save their lives in the end with a stunning truth of it all.
This was a compelling and shocking paranormal cozy with a twist of its own. I did care for Harper and Tolliver who remained estranged from their younger sisters. I did like how they worked together to put the pieces together for this compelling case. I loved the Nashville location in Tennessee and how it popped on the page for the settings. This would make for a great light reading on a winter day with a shocking ending you won't see coming with drama, intrigue, suspense ad mystery.

Grave Sight
This series has a good balance for paranormal fans and perfect for cozy fans. Not too gory with ghosts, this one sets up a great series of mysteries. Harper Connelly, and her half-brother, Tolliver Lang, are in Sarne Arkansas, when asked to visit someone's grave and how she died. But things go from bad to worse there. Treated like pariahs, we see how Harper and Tolliver are treated in a mixed bag of emotions, especially for Harper, who was once struck by lightning at a young age. When they discover the truth behind the other murders, people are after them and causing them a boat load of trouble in family secrets. We really get involved into Harper and her relationships Hollis and Tolliver. I rooted for her in every twist and turn. And so would you.
