Too Hot to Handle

In Katie Rose's Too Hot to Handle, the 2nd installment in the Boys of Summer baseball sports romance series, this newest love story hits a grand slam right out of the ballpark. Jake Baldwin is the star hitter of the Sonics baseball team and a ladies man. But when Nikki Case, their new PR spokesperson, arrived in his world, it changed everything. At first, everyone gave her a hard time by pulling practical joke. They even made a bet to see if Jake can seduce Nikki--a bet he's not willing to lose for a mere locker.  Nikki Case had met her match when she met Jake and the team, though she was through with baseball when her ex gambled away their fortune. But while she tried to clean up their bad boy image, things changed into their favor. She'd gotten to know more about Jake and his persona--how he helped his alcoholic mother and gave a Hispanic boy a job and so much more. While she dealt with pressure from the bass of the team's owner and went toe-to-toe to him, she learned what it was really about the bet and how her heart broken was afterwards. In the end, Jake comes to his senses and sweeps her off her feet to her happily ever after ending.

This was another captivating sports romance with the baseball theme. I'm really enjoying and loving any type of sports romance stories these days, especially with the Covid-19 outbreak. when we'll be watching any sports from home to see fan-less empty stadiums. I really cared for Nikki and how she turned things around for the Sonics and how she cared for her sister and nephews. I also loved how Jake took Joaquin under his wings and cared for his mother and looked out for others in the team. Even though he was coerced into the bet, he did follow his heart and chased his dreams to find his own true love. I loved the Southern New Jersey location and the other visual settings in the area to make it come alive. The themes are to follow your heart and live for your dreams and be caring to others.

Bring On The Heat

In Katie Rose's Bring on the Heat, the first installment in the Boys of Summer baseball sports romance, this debut has hit a home run fresh out of the gates. When Darcy Hamilton house sit for Lydia Logan, a heiress and local socialite, her job had came along with some perks. But when Lydia goes overseas and gives Darcy her invite to the ball in her place, she would be more than happy to accept. With the help of her friend Cara, Darcy had dressed like Lydia from head to toe. And when she arrived there, people had mistaken her from Lydia Logan, including New Jersey Sonics pitcher Chase Westbrook. Darcy had been a major fan of his and tries to tell him she's not Lydia when they first met. But sooner than later, she was caught up  with the moment and attempts to figure a way out to explain things. When she left Lydia's diamond earrings at his place, she was in a major pickle. For Chase, he wanted to become a star with the Yankees and hit the big leagues. He would do anything to impress his own father too. But when he met Darcy "aka Lydia" at the ball, he became enchanted with her and took her on dates. He had never seen this side of her before since she's known to be wild and ruthless. As Darcy kept up with her charade, she didn't think anything would go wrong, except she had fallen in love with Chase. But when Lydia arrived on the scene, she had a lot of explaining to do to both of them. Later on Chase follows his heart for his baseball dreams and also discovers that Darcy's the one for him with a happy ending that's a major grand slam.

This was an awesome and compelling debut from Katie Rose. I loved the theme of baseball for the sports romance series. I also loved how it taken place in New Jersey and also in New York City.  I did care for Darcy who was more over in her head for being "Lydia", though it had worked out all right for her in the end. I did find her charming and amusing and real likeable too. I also thought Chase was a groovy pitcher for a Sonics who had found his home and true calling with his own team. He could make his own baseball dreams there and make the World Series next year. I did find Lydia a bit obnoxious as well.  This would have him you running all the bases for a fantastic read and root for Darcy's love story with Chase with non-stop action, plenty of baseball drama, sparks of romance, and intense suspense in every page.

Heat of the Moment

In Katie Rose's The Heat of the Moment, the third installment in the Boys of Summer Sports Contemporary romance series, she had hit a home run with this compelling read. For Gavin King, when a knee injury had sidelined him, he had been traded to the Jersey Sonics from his California baseball team. Later, he learned that it was the best move possible for him, after he broke up with his model girlfriend. That's when he met his physical therapist, Jessica Hart, who swore off baseball players after a recent breakup with one. While he worked on healing his knee to get back in the game, he had gotten to know Jessica and fell in love with her, when they sexual heat between them was steamy hot for sure. But when his ex comes back, it made Jessica uncertain, when he told her she was the one for him.

This was a delightful sports contemporary romance novel in the series. I liked Gavin and Jessica as a couple and hated Kristen in on the spot. His father needed to get a life and care for Gavin's feeling, not just the sport itself.  But I liked the central theme being sports and baseball in general and the new friendship he had with his team mates, with the exception of Roger. This would make you cheer for Gavin being the underdog, and Jessica to be swept off his feet in this wonderful romance. There's a lot of non-stop action, drama, romance and intrigue in this steamy novel.
