Kidnap & Ransom

Michelle Gagnon brings up a shocking conclusion to the Kelly Jones thriller series in Kidnap & Ransom. It continues where it left off in the Gatekeeper. More drama and tension were in the air as Kelly dealt with the loss of her leg and wearing a prosthetic ankle, while she was on leave. There was friction with her relationship with Jake, while it took a backseat for the while. When his brother Mark was missing in action in Mexico, he brought his K&R team along to help rescue Cesar Calderon and his brother. We saw how Kelly felt about the situation, when she felt useless and unwanted, and considered a hindrance. She set off on her own mission with her former FBI partner, Danny Rodriguez, to find Stefan Gunderson from the Tunnels. There was plenty drama and shocking twists and turns over here and a surprise ending I won't give away. From California to Mexico, we could really feel for Kelly and Jake and despise Syd Clement and the bad guys in this explosive finale.

This was a bittersweet end to the thriller series. I really felt bad for Kelly, who had to endure a loss of her leg from the explosion, and worked her way with a prosthetic leg. I didn't like Syd Clement, Jake's partner, who was nothing but rotten and jealous of Kelly. I did feel bad for Jake, when he wanted to go save his brother's life. This was intense and deep as it gets. In the end, I cried. What a way to end the series.

Boneyard

If you love explosive thrillers, you'll love the second installment in the Kelly Jones Thriller series by Michelle Gagnon, Boneyard. In this novel, Kelly Jones was assigned to a disturbing case of bones found at a local national park in Massachusetttes, right before she left for her overdue vacation,  when they uncovered a boneyard of dead bodies. What they didn't know was the killer was someone they might know in the distance, someone who didnn't like male gay hustlers. It hit close to home for Kelly's task force, especially when dead bodies were found in New York and also in Massachusetts. What was worse was there was a copycat out there, who had revenge for his own. When her boyfriend Jake Riley popped up, he helped out in the case, and had a proposal for Kelly of his own,  before it might be too late for Kelly and her task force. What a thrill ride!

This thriller focused on the hard-hitting topic of a hate crime against gay men. I loved how Jake and Kelly teamed up in this tough case, when someone had literally a bone or two to pick with them, one of their own. This also sent me chills and thrills down my spine as well. I didn't like how the killer targeted gay men with a possible copycat to finish what he started. We could see the sparks flying between Kelly and Jake as they got closer and closer. Once again, don't read this thriller in the dark.

Gatekeeper

In the Gatekeeper, the third book of the Kelly Jones Thriller series, this dealt with domestic terrorism that serial killers, right in our backyard. This was the best one yet. From Arizona to New York and Texas, this was action-packed with every twist and turn on every page. For Kelly and Jake, this one changed everything, when they've gotten engaged. Kelly worked on a disturbing case of someone dismembering senators, when Jake was sent to work to rescue an abducted teen. But little did they know, both cases would be related by someone who was the leader of reuniting hate groups to terrorize our own country with an explosive ending.  There was even a bit of a mini love triangle and shocking twists in the end, making you want to know more and more for the final installment. Hands down, this was a winner and the series kept getting better. 

This one tackled one of the toughest battles our country ever had to battle in our entire history: homeland terrorism. Disturbing as it was, this one took it to a different level to have gone further and farther. I loved how both Kelly and Jake became an official item and worked on one big gigantic lead to connect their cases together. I hate that it dealt with hate crimes and terrorism. Some scenes were a bit tough to swallow with a bitter aftertaste.  But it was excellent, through and through.

The Tunnels

In Michelle Gagnon's thriller debut, the Tunnels, the first installment in the Kelly Jones  Thriller series, we were introduced to a dark thriller. For FBI Special Agent, Kelly Jones, she never saw a nasty crime scene before this one. When two college students were found murdered in a New England tunnel system beneath a prestigious New England college. For Kelly, she teamed up with Jake Riley, where a connection between them were sparking at first. From there, she found a link between the two murdered girls and a dark tale of why they were picked for random. The killer taunted Kelly to go dark and deep into the tunnels herself.

This novel shouldn't be read in the dark, since it could give you goosebumps. Leave the lights on! This thriller can send you an emotional roller coaster of the darkest level of evil could be obtained. I cared about Jake and Kelly, while they worked together.  I also enjoyed her fellow agents in the team.  I felt every sort of emotion in this novel from hating the killer and rooting for Kelly to solve the case.
