Can You Keep A Secret?

If you loved the Shopaholic series, you'll love one of her classic standalone novels. Meet Emma Corrigan in Can You Keep a Secret? She worked hard for her money at a cola company in the marketing department. Her family paid more attention to her cousin than they do to her. There was a disconnect with her boyfriend Connor. But when she went on a business trip to Scotland, she blabbed all of her secrets to a stranger. Later on, unknowingly, she met the man in person who was the head of her company. She became friends with him and later fell in love with him. Somehow he changed her world for her better and spun it around. They clicked, while she didn't know his secrets. From Emma's POV, you'll root for Emma with a bundle of laughter.

This hilarious chick lit would leave you with a warm and happy feeling. I did began to feel for Emma, when her family mistreated her. All she wanted to do was to impress them. I did feel sorry for her, when she blabbed to a total stranger on the plane. This also left me laughing in stitches. I loved the United Kingdom backdrop from England to Scotland, even from a plane. Overall, this was a great read, when you're feeling down and needed a pick me up, with great dramatic suspense and a dose of humor.

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan was the second installment in the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. Becky Bloomwood was in debt again, and she was in over her head, while things were going strong with her and Luke. When there was word of a move to New York, she didn't know what to believe, until she heard it from Luke. Whey they moved to New York, her debt and her problems chased her there, while things were complicated for her relationship with Luke, as she was obsessed with his business, which was falling apart. When word hit New York, her life fell apart, and they had a row. While  they were trying to fix things, it worsened until it exploded, until she moved back home to clean up her debt, and did things on her own. Luke did chase her down to New York with a proposal of his own. Another great book in the series.

This was another charming chick lit novel for the Shopaholic series, though I haven't finished reading the series, when it was out of order. I loved the dual locations of London and NYC for this explosive and hilarious chick lit. I thought of Becky and Luke's relationship were charming as well, while they've tried to work things out. I loved the hilarious witty bits inside of it too. Like in real life, we all have to watch our budgets to avoid debt, especially when shopping. Great witty charm, nice storyline, with a sizzling chemistry between Becky and Luke.

Shopaholic and Sister

In the 4th installment of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series, Shopaholic and Sister, this one dealt with Becky and Luke's return from their almost year-long honeymoon, and things had changed. Her best friend found somebody new, her husband was acting strange and obsessed with work, and she found out she had a long-long older sister named Jessica. As Becky had gotten stuck in debt, she tried to bond with Jess, who could be stubborn as hell, when things blew up for her. She risked her life to try to mend fences, and ended up bonding. In the end, things turned up rosy for Becky, when things were going smooth as well. A delightful read.

This was another delightful chick lit novel in the Shopaholic series. I loved how everything came to a head, after they returned back to the United Kingdom. I continued to love Becky's love for shopping, but hated it when she continued to get back into the rut of being in debt. I loved the surprise of Becky's sister Jessica and on how they tried to bond together to work things out. The UK location was an ideal place.  Great witty humor, plenty of suspense and a hint of romance.
