When her friend Fiona frames her for stealing drug money from a loan shark, she was on the run for her life with her close friend Richard "Dingo" Dingler. As Peter and Shayla look for clues to rescue Maddie, the only one to get connected to her is via her email and texts. With the help of Shayla's creativeness, Peter tells Maddie how his meet her mother and what happened to cause them to split up in the first place. In a bind, Peter and Shayla, and the help with Peter's Navy SEAL team mates,  come to her rescue and help put the bad guys away with a gripping ending.

Into the Fire

In Suzanne Brockmann's Into the Fire, the 13th installment in the Troubleshooters romantic suspense series, she catapulted us into a thrilling novel with shocking chills.  For Vinh Murphy, he had lost everything when his wife died. Now he had growing feeling for her best friend, Hannah Whitfield. But when the Freedom Network's fearless leader was found dead, all eyes pointed to Vinh for avenging his wife's death. For Izzy, he couldn't believe he fell in love with his co-worker's younger sister Eden and had an one night stand with her, which lead to her pregnancy and took care of her, believing the baby wasn't his. For the others, they went through a lot of hardships in life and love. And when they were caught in the hairs of the crossfire, they fought back to save one of their own and bring the neo-Nazi cult down and behind bars. But not everyone would receive a happy ending.

This was a great romantic suspense novel in part of the series. I liked how they were a diverse cast of characters and cared for Izzy and Eden, Hannah and Vinh. My heart went out to each and one of them. I loved the dual locations of California and Alaska for the picturesque settings. This would take you into a wild ride and make you root for the team, while they fought a good fight on land and overseas. This has non-stop action, suspense, intrigue and a lot of drama to keep you hooked on every page.

Special Review: Forbidden from October 2008

In Suzanne Brockmann's Forbidden, the first installment in the Bartlett Brothers romantic suspense series, she beautifully told us a love story with an awkward love triangle story twist. When Kayla Grey traveled from Boston to Montana, the last place she expected to be was huddled up in the middle of a snowstorm. And the last person she expected to rescue her, Cal Bartlett, was the very person she wanted to see, the brother of the man she wanted to marry. But she didn't know that, until it was too late, after they kissed and when she felt a desire like no other before. But how could Cal handle the news, that his brother could be alive, when she asked him to come with her on a dangerous journey to find him, which was based from a stranger's rumor, when he experienced a longing for her than before between wanting Kayla and losing his brother once again.

This was a fabulous romantic suspense, when it dealt with matters from the heart. I really cared for Kayla, Cal, and even for his presumed dead brother. Talk about an awkward love triangle for sure. I loved the Montana snowstorm with having winter as the backdrop for the location and the settings.  This pulled on my heartstrings and made me cry a few tears. This was a powerful read for sure. Great drama, good strong tension and non-stop action, and plenty of romance and intrigue on every breath-taking page turn.

Born to Darkness

In Suzanne Brockmann's Born to Darkness, the first book in the Fighting Destiny series, it took place in the near and distant future. There was a brand new war against drugs; mainly this one called Destiny, which gave you a super-high with a lethal death rate. It was up to black-listed Navy SEAL, Shane Laughlin, who signed up to join the OI team. That was when he met Michelle Mackenzie, one of the Greater-Thans that had a high supernatural and paranormal power. Each one of the team had a special gift and a connection to someone there. While they fought this war on drugs, they were after the Organization that had kidnapped Anna Taylor's sister, Nika, into a nightmare of their own. With telepathy and other super powers, this futuristic thriller/romantic suspense was in a league of its own. You'll love it.

This was a terrific introduction to the futuristic thriller world with paranormal and romantic suspense tendencies. It gave us a brief glimpse of what it could be back then, if we don't change things in the here and now for the present, especially on illegal drug consumption. I cared about Michelle, Shane, and Anna Taylor, including everyone on the OI team. I loved the futuristic settings it took us for the location. This made me gasp and shock in awe of the amazing twists and turns straight to the end. Great drama, excellent suspense and intrigue with plenty of hints of romantic suspense and paranormal superpowers to hook us in on the first page.
