It all started when Samantha Jellicoe, a cat burglar, was about to steal something in Richard Addison's apartment. Instead, she saved his life when a bomb went off that almost blew him away. After Richard Addison, a British rich man and savvy art collector, came to his senses, he wondered about the elusive lady and had to have her. While Sam went into hiding, she listened to the news reports about the explosion and Googled about Addison before he tracked him down. When he did, they formed an unlikely alliance and partnership to find out who wanted him dead and who ripped him off in fakes. The chemistry between them was palpable hot when they pretended to be dating in the papers, and the lovemaking is off the charts. When she tried to connect the dots and discovered some literal "dead-ends" on who could've targeted her, they talked about their past lives and followed a trial that led right back to Addison's past in London. Though they wouldn't have a future unless something's got to give, he made a proposal she couldn't refuse as he charmed her socks off for a surprising twist in the end.

 This is a great romantic suspense novel that's thrilling and enthralling at the same time. I cared for Sam and how she made the best of the situation that's been thrown at her. When she'd gotten herself into a sticky situation, she looked for an alternate option. I do think she and Addison make an unlikely couple, total polar opposites, who had fallen for each other under undue circumstances. And I could see him growing soft for him as well. I loved the dual locations of Florida and then London in the end. The scenic settings were spectacular and mesmerizing to enter their worlds. The  dual theme of the story are opposites attract and be careful what you've done in the past.

When push comes to shove, Phin has the right evidence to make Richard confess and makes Alyse his own.

This was a fascinating and thrilling historical romance to read. I loved Phin and Alyse's story to read and how it captivated me from the beginning. I found Phin real charming and Alyse a real doll to put up with Richard and her aunt. I loved the ruse of the Highwayman concept real enduring as I liked the settings of England from the Bath ruins and to the Bromley house for the location's scenery. This made me want to swoon and sigh with their intimateness in every page with non-stop action, plenty of heated romance, lots of drama and intrigue along the way.
