The Perfect Mistress

In Victoria Alexander's The Perfect Mistress, the first installment in the Mistress Trio historical romance series, this novel would scintillate and entice you to a fiery red hot romance about a well-suited couple. For Lady Julia Winterset, she's widowed and downed in her luck with her finances. And with her great-grandmother's memoirs, it would help her make a most fitting profit. But since it's so scandalous and talked about in town, there would be people who would wish not to see it surface in print. And one of them is Lord Harrison Landingham of Mountdale, since his own father's name were brought up into the mess. And for him, he had proposed an ill-wise plan to get those memoirs out of her hands. But there was something about her that had changed him for the better, though she set out to become her friend and nothing more. As more people became interested in publishing those books with red-hot offers on the table, and a chemistry brewed between Julia and Harrison after that kiss. From there, when she learned on how he deceived her, he would do better to woo her and win her heart to make her his own.

This was another juicy and fiery historical romance with a compelling storyline. I instantly cared for Julia and her financial plight. I also had found Harrison dashing and charming and the ghostly appearances of Hermoine very intriguing. I did enjoy the vast and idyllic scenic settings in London and elsewhere in England with compelling locations. This was a real enjoyable novel that would make you swoon and sway and need a tall glass of water to douse yourself later on with red-hot romance,  intrigue, plenty of non-stop action and drama to keep you hooked right to the end.

My Wicked Little Lies

In Victoria Alexander's My Wicked Little Lies, we were introduced to a married couple who had something to hide. For two years, Evelyn Hadley-Attwater was married to her husband Adrian. Before then, she was a spy known as "Eve". When she was called on again for a special assignment of theft of missing governmental files, she kept this secret to herself. Her boss was known as "Sir" and haven't been seen in person. For Adrian, he became suspicious of Evelyn, when his jealousy went wild. That's when she punished him, when he didn't trust her. From that moment on, Adrian kept a secret of himself--he was "Sir" in the flesh, and was also called upon. Between them, the sparks fly between them and danger loomed over them and took a dangerous turn for the worse. In the end, they confessed their true feelings and revealed their secrets to one another.

I really enjoyed the concept of having a married couple as the two leading main characters, instead of two single and lonely people finding each other, as the central focus on the storyline. We rarely see that in historical romances and gives it a certain zesty appeal to it. For Evelyn and Adrian withholding secrets from one another, it really placed the tension in the plotline. I also enjoyed the subplot storyline with Max and Eve's closest friend who had a secret or two of her own. The warm interaction with Adrian's family also had made Evelyn feel real welcome to the family fold, since there was a loving group of people. Every member of his family had suffered from a major ordeal and had overcome it. It gives them a dose of personality and made them more human than others.

I was hooked on the first gripping page and was taken into a whole new world, when the past collided with the present, while the truth revealed itself in snippets. This made me gasp and sigh and held me in suspense with a presence of foreshadowing danger. In this historical romance, it showed us that not every marriage was perfect and within time, it could overcome any obstacles in its way. For Eve and Adrian to find their way back to each other's arms makes this a timeless classic of its own.

When We Meet Again

If you love great historical romances with a hint of mystery, you'll enjoy When We Meet Again by Victoria Alexander, the 10th book in the Effington Family series. Four years ago, Pamela Effington seduced a prince for one night in Venice--a night they wouldn't forget. Later, they meet again, when Prince Alexi Pruzinsky from Avalonia resided in Pamela's home she had inherited, and thrown in a faux engagement, to save her ruined reputation. Alexi had his own troubles, when he was exiled from his country and pretty much ran out of funds. As they charaded, they fell in love and battled demons and foes who stood in the way, when they realized they were meant to be together.

 I really enjoyed how Pamela and Prince Alexi were reunited after a chance encounter. Both Pamela and Alexi overcame many obstacles from the past and to now to find their way back to each other again. The opening pages had me at hello and gripped me into a fascinating ride about when they first met and their backstory of how they came together. I practically cried tears of joy and happiness throughout this beautiful and harming story. With a touch of mystic intrigue on how Pamela became royalty made it even more enchanted as as timeless classic with a dash of humor. Overall, it was a great novel!
