In Serena Bell's Yours to Keep, this contemporary romance debut deals with hard-core issue of the immigration status in our country and what would you do for love. For Ana Travares, she's been living under the ICE's radar as an undocumented citizen since her mother's death. And she's under pressure for taking the CORI in order to tutor high school students. When Dr. Ethan Hansen's son Theo needs a Spanish tutor, he requested her tutoring services. From there, he had helped transformed Theo and bridged the gap between father and son, which had been chartered some rapid waters in their relationship. But Ana tries not to fall in love with Ethan, since she knew her secret about her immigration status and her protective brother wouldn't approve. When he catches wind about her citizenship, he proposes a plan to keep her in the country and in her life to get her green card. When her brother finds out, he encourages Ethan to break it up, when the forces against her had propelled her to do it first. Later, during a family crisis, Ana calls Ethan to come to the rescue. That had changed everything between them, when Ethan wants to do it right and make Ana his wife and to give her the American dream of hers to keep for her own with a happy ending.
This was a great debut from Serena Bell for this contemporary romance novel. I cared for Ana and the plight her family had been put through since they lost their mother. I loved how Ana wanted to help other citizen learn English and become US citizens. The immigration status for undocumented citizens is still a global concern in the world today. I did find Ethan compassionate to his patients and to Theo and to Ana's situation. I did find Ricky a bit overbearing, but he did soften up a little bit in the end. I did love the scenic settings of Hawthorne and Beacon Massachusetts pretty amazing and fantastic for the location itself. This would make you think about the world we live in and how it could change people on a hardspun time. This would make you shake your heard, swoon and sigh, and take a deep and long breath with drama, suspense, nonstop action and plenty of romance.
Will you find your soulmate and American dream that would be yours to keep?

Hare Today, Dead Tomorrow
In Cynthia Baxter's Hare Today, Dead Tomorrow, the fourth installment in the Reigning Cats and Dogs Cozy Mystery series, this cozy mystery will shed some lights into some dark aspects of the winery business. For Dr. Jessica Popper, things couldn't be more sublime, when she and her boyfriend Nick Burby to live together. But when her best friend Dr. Suzanne Fox is accusing of killing her ex's current flame, she would do anything to help her out and prove her innocence. While her mobile vet practice is up and running, she discovered the world that Cassie Thorndyke left behind by talking to her family, which included her troubled brother, grieving father, and her own stepmother. She also took a good luck at the restaurant world and Suzanne's former ex, too. But meanwhile, someone has it in for Jessica by leaving her creepy emails and following her every move. While she becomes a local celebrity with her own show on a local network, she pieces the puzzle together, one piece at a time, to take a real good look at the clues on the crime scene and what they meant. When she figured it out, it's up to her to confront the killer before he comes after next in the final showdown before life and death.
This was another compelling and riveting installment in the cozy series. I cared for Jessica and Nick as an amazing couple. I also felt compassion for Suzanne, who had been through the wringer no less, and doesn't deserve Marcus after he ditched her. I did like how she would do anything for her friend and how she didn't let anything deter her from finding the truth. She didn't let her newfound notoriety stop her either as she grabbed the local spotlight for her show. I did love the concept of her mobile vet services and her having her own local cable access show. I loved the Long Island scenic locations and gripping scenery from the vineyards and beyond. This would grip you on the first page and take you on a good ride with drama, nonstop action, suspense and a hint of mystery too.

They talked to her friends and closest neighbors, while the Wood Winds community had shunned her. They look for clues in every nook and cranny to dissect Halley's private and personal life. And when Josie thought she had it made in the shade, they hit a snag and someone charged her card and sent packages to shut her up for snooping. But when that didn't deter her, when Josie dug deeper into the heart of Wood Winds community and to Halley's closest friends, when one of them had more than a bone to pick with her. It would leave Josie scrambling and fighting for her life in the end.
This was another great installment in the Josie Marcus Mystery Shopper Cozy Mystery series. I do like the St. Louis backdrop for the scenic settings and the location for this cozy series. I did care for Josie and Amelia as she tried to make money the earnest way to provide for her daughter. I did find Jane a bit overprotective, but proud of her for kicking the smoking habit. I find find Granby a lech and Mike a hottie for a plumber. This also portrayed the artistic and retail world in a new light, especially with real air-tight cul-de-sac communities. Sometimes it can be darn right creepy. This would make you shake your head, grimace and groan, whistle and sigh, maybe grit your teeth with non-stop action, drama, suspense and a hint of mystery.

Dare to Lie
In Jen McLaughlin's Dare to Lie, the third installment in the Sons of Steel Row contemporary romance series, this novel would make you hold onto your seat belts and rev those engines. Told in the POVs of Scotty Donahue and Skylar Daniels, we've got an inside look on how they met and what obstacles they've endured to be together. For Scotty, he worked undercover as an DEA agent and posed as a gang member of the Sons of Steel Row. He would do anything to protect his brother and kept his secret alive. When the gang leader Tate Daniels asked him to step in for him for his sister's charity auction for school, he would do anything to oblige. And when Skylar won the bid, it would more than love for first sight for the two of them. Though Tate warned him not to touch her, they couldn't help themselves, when they had a sparking chemistry together. While he protected Skylar from the Bitter Hill rival gang, they planned the next strategic attack on them. And when Scotty got hurt from an attack at her apartment, things came to a head, when their secret came out. In order to protect her and himself, he had to break it off with her from Tate's orders. And for the two of them, it had tore their worlds apart, while they love each other so much. During another attack that hospitalized Scotty, Skylar learned the truth of their break-up and became worried about what her brother would do if he found out the truth. And that would put both Scotty and his informant friend Chris into a dangerous position in order he could have her happy ending with her.
This was a great installment in the series with action-packed scenes in every chapter. I loved that both Scotty and Skylar had red hair--something we don't see much in any romance novel now. I'm pretty fond of strawberry blonde heroines myself. I loved the nitty-gritty aspects of what a DEA agent does even for undercover work. I instantly cared for Scotty and what he do to do for his job and to protect the people he cared and loved the most. I did love Skylar's independent flair to save lives as a medical student and how she remained close to her brother Tate, no matter what he put them through. I did like the concept of pitting street gangs on the streets in an all-out war, which is true to form what happens in real life everyday. This romance would make you curl your toes, fan yourself, take a big breath and sigh, and hooked on this chemical feeling throughout the novel with non-stop drama, red-hot romance, intrigue and plenty of action along the way.
Will you dare to lie and protect yourself today?

Sullivan's Island
In Dorothea Benton Frank's Sullivan's Island, the first installment in the Lowcountry Tales woman's fiction series, this debut will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride from the 1960s to 1999. It all started for Susan Hayes, when she discovered her husband was cheating on her with a younger woman. And that started the catalyst for a trip down Memory Lane for her, as she took her daughter Beth to Sullivan's Island, her hometown which brought up memories of her adolescent youth. As she prepares to deal with filing for divorce and becoming a single parent, she searches for the truth behind her father's deathm and how she survived a turbulent childhood with a racist grandfather and an abusive, uncaring father amongst other things. And it wasn't for their housekeeper Livvie who kept them in line and all in place. Through the Civil Rights Movement and how she had found her first love in the past, to becoming a stronger woman to deal with her ex-husband's battle with cancer, reuniting with her first love and finding a new niche and a job of her own. Between the past and the present, Susan had been through it all and perservered to become the woman she was today.
This was a beautifiul and endearing woman's fiction novel debut that's a tear-jerker and pull at your heart's strings. This is so emotional and powerful to talk about turbulent times in the 1960s and how things had changed over thirty years. The time trip to Memory Lane via flashbacks in alternating chapters showcased what the Hamiltons had been through and endured with vivid locations and realistic Southern scenic settings. I cared for Susan and her siblings in the 1960s and what hell they have been through, as I cared for her now with an unfaithful husband, a learing boss, and going through the stages of single parenthood. I did find Beth a spitting image of Susan and her Aunt Maggie, while I didn't care for much for Aunt Carol or Big Hank. This novel would make you think and shake your head, praise God, and reflect on the changing times from then and now with non-stop drama, action, a hint of suspense and a dollop of romance.

Blue Ridge Sunrise
In Denise Hunter's Blue Ridge Sunrise, the first installment in the Blue Ridge Romance inspirational romance series, this moving and heart-warming story will bring you to tears and feel warmth in your heart from God. Former free spirit Zoe Collins returned home to Copper Creek, Georgia, after her beloved grandmother had died. She brought her four-year-old daughter Gracie and her boyfriend Kyle. But during her homecoming, she's reunited with her best friend Hope and old feelings flooded her of her brother Brady's best friend Cruz Huntley. As a background singer for Kyle's country band out of Nashville, she learned her grandmother had handed her the barn and orchard to run in her will. While Kylie's demanding way to return back to Nashville, she put her foot down and tried to make a go of it. She remembered how she met Cruz and how Gracie was conceived one starry night. And when she discovered she was pregnant with his baby, he didn't believe her and pushed her away. Now since she returned, she haven't told him the truth, while Kyle interferred and wanted her to come back. While her own brother Brady deals with his ex-wife Audrey and seeing his newborn Sam, Zoe tries to get her father to warm up to her, but he kept pushing her away as he's no longer a part of her life. Meanwhile, Cruz deals with the fallout of his paternity and wrestles with the feelings he still has for her, while he gets to know Gracie better. They also put the past behind them and move forward together, when days before the Peach Fest, her barn goes aflame. While she deals with the grief of losing the barn and tries to put the screws on Kyle, it was a matter of life and death for Cruz to profess his love for her and set things right for them.
This was a beautiful and truly moving romance about second chances, following your heart and believing in God. I really cared for Zoe and Brady and how they deal with single parenthood and difficult relationships. I'm so glad Brady accepted Cruz and Zoe together, while their father is a bit prejudiced and self-centered in my opinion. The same could be said for Kyle. I do love Gracie and how she was a spitting image of red-haired Zoe. I also loved how Zoe wanted to do her own thing and set her own path aflame in her own independence. The scenic settings for Copper Creek was very visual and picturesque for a small town community that came together in a crisis. The location was idealistic and very charming as well. I could see Hope and Brady come together as a possible love connection too. This inspirational romance will make you pray and kneel, your heart race and swoon, sigh and take a deep breath with non-stop action, drama, intrigue, and sparks of romance.

June Bug
In Jess Lourey's June Bug, the 2nd installment in the Murder-by-Month Mystery cozy mystery series, this tale will keep you in suspense and at the edge of your seat. A month after Mira's boyfriend Jeff was found murdered, life was never a dull moment for her at Battle Lake Minnesota. While she wouldn't mind lended a hand with the local paper, there was a story about a contest to find the legend of a fake pasty diamond at the bottom of the lake. At first, Mira had a run-in with someone from her past to stir things up, namely Jason Blunt. Then when she went diving to the lake, she uncovered a fake corpse to propel people away from looking for buried and lost treasure. She had ran into some nefarious people and ran into snags along the way. While there was a report about Mrs. Krupps at age 103 had passed away, her philanthropy had became legandary like with her missing husband who had strangely disappeared. She also tried to piece together the mystery, when there was a circus act in town and someone had "faked" his death to stir up new buzz to promote new business. But that's when Mira had gotten entangled with being part of another "disappearing" act and ended up in the woods. As she prepared to solve the cryptic mystery, there was a kidnapping, and then she had to fight for her life with her own hands.
This was another great cozy mystery set in the fictional town of Battle Lake, Montana. I did like the small town community and its quirky and idealistic settings with a lake of its own. I did like Mira James and how she took charge and overcame some bumpy obstacles along the way to solve the mystery and how she put it together. I've found Mrs. Berns a hoot and had found Kennie Rodgers a bit quite amusing. Mira is your ideal heroine for a cozy series that would keep you in suspense to see how she figured it out. This has non-stop action, intrigue, a hint of drama, and plenty of mystery along the way.

The Forgotten Girls
In Owen Laukkanen's The Forgotten Girls, the sixth installment in the Stevens and Windermere thriller series, this novel will give you goosebumps and feel cold all over by the end of the novel. It all started when someone found a photo of a dead girl's body in their phone's Cloud System. And that had sent FBI Agents Kirk Stevens and Carla Windermere on a hunt of a brutal and ruthless serial killer. When they received the call about another dead body of a girl found in the cold of winter, they've found a startling connection of who the two previous dead bodies were connected: the North Line train system heading to the west coast. And from there, both Stevens and Windermere head to Missoula, Montana, and look for clues there. While Mila Scott, a friend of the victim's decided to track down the ghost rider, she wanted nothing, but to seek vengeance for her friend's murder. With the help of the local law enforcement in Montana, they learn more about the connection and how one recent victim survived the attack, but also the cold elements as well. When they get caught up to Mila, they learn more about the killer's identity and background and were on the move to make tracks as well. As he had thought they were onto him, he headed north to Canada. In the end, it lead to a deadly home invasion and a chilling standoff to take him down and send him packing behinds bars in the end.
This was a gripping and bone-chilling thriller from start to finish. With fast-paced non-stop action, this novel will keep you hooked and keep on reading to find out what happens next. I liked how diverse the cast was, when you had Carla and Kirk, both African-American and Caucasian working together as partners side by side. We also get to know more about Stevens's family and Carla's significant other outside of work. I liked the concept of having those victims being Native Americans other than being transients by hopping trains. I liked the vast locations from Minnesota to Montana and to Canada as well. The descriptions were vivid and very eye-catching as well to place you at those settings and crime scenes in the cold of winter. This would send chills through your spine with drama, suspense, and plenty of mystery through and through.
Will you be ready to chase a cold-blooded serial killer in the Forgotten Girls today?

One Sexy Ride
In Vivian Arend's One Sexy Ride, the 3rd installment in the Thompson and Sons and the 10th installment in the Rocky Mountain House contemporary romance series, this romance will make you feel hot and bothered and rev up your engines. For Len Thompson, he always had feelings for Janey Watson, his sister's best friend, for as long as he lived and known her. They've grown up with each other and watched her grown up before his eyes. It first started when he encounted Janey getting taken advantage of by other men and had her drink drugged too. So he had to take care of and made sure she recovered from her ordeal. But while she made fast tracks to work on a home renovation project, he needed to move fast to tell her how she felt before she moved to Calgary. For Janey, she wanted to prove to her folks and others that she can handle big projects on her own. But when it came to Len, she didn't know how he felt about her. But during their first date together, they had a taste of what they could have in a very sexual and blossoming, casual relationship and how they were made for each other. She didn't mind Len giving her a helping hand or when he made her laugh. She didn't want to lose a good thing on what they have. And when he brought the deed to their home they've worked on, he made a huge mistake and could've messed things up for her. In order to win her back, he would have to open his heart and let her come in to start a future.
This contemporary romance would make you swoon and roll down the steamy windows. This would make you heart pitter-patter and want you to have a taste of their own. I've cared for Len and his big family and how they've dealt with the loss of their mother back then and how they've looked out for each other and cared for their own. I loved how they worked together in the garage and had good camadaderie with each other. I also cared for Janey and how she took a big leap to fall for Len and how she stood her ground to be independent. I loved the Canadian locations in Rocky Mountain House and how the settings popped and came to live. This would keep you hooked with non-stop action, drama, explosive romance, and hints of intrigue along the way.

Lay Me to Rest
In E.A. CLark's Lay Me to Rest, this thriller has a curvy twist featuring a ghost story or two that would keep you wondering about the afterlife. Annie Phillips is a new widow and also pregnant with her first child. While she had gone through her mental health issues and grieving the loss of her husband Graham, her sister suggested she would take a healthy respite in a cottage in Wales. That's when she met the Parrys, an elderly couple, and Peter Roberts, a friend of the family. But during her first night, things aren't what they seem for Annie when a spirit awakens her and asks her for her help. Startled, she informs the Parrys about this ghostly intruder, especially when things had gone violent. Feared for her life, they requested the help of Pastor Evans and his wife Nia, who was something of a ghost whisperer. When she thought she could handle one spirit, there was another violent presence. And it all seemed to be connected to the Parrys, past and present. Both of those spirits had shared the same name. The first one wanted to be reunited with her unborn child, when her story was sad and tragic in the past. The second one had to deal with violence on who killed her and why, when it had a connection to a previous death. Now it was up to Annie to set things straight to lay both spirits to rest, so they can cross to the other side in peace. Later, after Annie gives birth to her daugher. A year later, she meets Leo, a single father, when another ghost visits her from beyond the grave... a perfect seque if this leads to another novel.
This was a chilling thriller with an entertwined ghost story as the center plot. I did feel for Annie who had flashbacks of her relationship with Graham and remembers the memory they had together. I did feel bad that his bad was cut short, while she tried her best to move on with her life. I did like the way how the two ghost stories were connected with one another with the Parry family. Though I've found Peter too condescending and callously cold. I did like the rural Welsh settings from the cottage to her home in England. I did like the Parrys as well, though something had made me disconcerting about Will Parry in the end. This would make you ask questions about the hereafter and believe in angels or in ghosts. It would leave you goosebumps and hair raise at the back of the neck with non-stop action, suspense, drama and intrigue. (My e-arc had minor grammar/spacing issues.)
Will you be enchanted to read Lay Me To Rest tonight?

South of Nowhere
In Minerva Koenig's South of Nowhere, the second installment in the Julia Kalas mystery series, this story would take you on a wild ride and on a potential hot seat of political discussion. Former criminal Julia Kalas wanted to start a new life and her own business, when she left the Witness Protection Program as a free woman. When private investigator John Maines required her assistance for a missing person case, little did she know what she would find close to the border of Mexico. And what she discovered was a dead body at her doorstep and a missing link that might be connected to the former psychologist who tried to kill her. After they discovere the mistaken identity of their missing person, Julia and her lover Hector went on a trial to come after them. Before they knew it, Maines ended up shot and their perp took off. While he recovers in the hospital, Maines forces her hand to take over the case and look for clues that has a political connection to the recently deceased body. While she underwent some mental issues of her own and trying to connect to her own mother, Julia runs into some unsavory people to connect the dots and pieces the puzzle together to learn who had planted the dead body on her doorstep right under her nose and to find out why in the end.
This was a great introduction to the Julia Kalas mystery series. I liked that Julia has a Native American origin as a central character. I did care about her plight to have a fresh start and deal with some issues of her own. I did find Hector a charmer and a bit suspicious of his behavior. I did like the dual locations of Texas and Mexico breath-taking near the borderline and pretty satisfying for the scenic settings. This fast-paced thriller will make you buckle your seatbelt for a bumpy ride to enter into a twisted storyline with non-stop action, drama, suspense and plenty of mystery every step of the way.

Skin Tight
In Carl Hiaasen's Skin Tight, the first installment in the Mick Stranahan comedic mystery series, this debut will have you laughing out loud and shake your head a few time. Meet Mick Stranahan, a lone man who lives in Stiltsville Florida, and a former private investigator. It all started when someone tried to kill him at his home, when he used his prized marlin to make him into mincemeat and chum out of him. That's when he started to investigate the issue on why someone who wanted him dead and learned it had to do with a cold case of a missing person named Vicky Barletta. For Dr. Rudy Graveline, he was the plastic surgeon who knew the truth and hired Blondell Tatum, aka "Chemo" who's a tall man with a disformed face to track him down. And he ended up with losing his own hand in that brutal fight. Everyone wants a piece of the action like Reynoldo Flemm, who would do anything for a story, and Maggie Gonzalez, who pinned the fallout on Mick and covered up the real truth. And there's Christina Marks, who works for Flemm, and finds out more than she bargained for to get the scoop. Besides crooked cops, doctors and politicians, everybody wants it hushed up before it could ruin everything when the real truth comes out with a grisly ending that can't be missed.
This humorous mystery would have you in stitches from start to finish. You won't be able to put it down and read it in more than one sitting. I did care for Mick who's a loner and has rotten luck with his failed marriages and falling in love with women. I did like Christina and Rey, who would do anything for top billing of a hot story. I did like the picturesque descriptions throughout Miami and other locations in Florida for the settings. This would make you head spin in circles, blushing red, non-stop laughter and gasp and groan with non-stop action, hint of intrigue, drama and sparks of mystery.

Slap Shot
worIn Kelly Jamieson's Slap Shot, the 5th installment in the Aces Hockey sports romance series, get ready to skate on the ice and be dazzled by a winning goal in one story. Meet Max Hall. He's a right wing for the Chicago Aces hockey team. He's been off the ice ever since his wife died and wants to get back on the roster again. At a friend's wedding, he meets Kendra Armstrong, one of his team mate's cousin who's from NYC. At first glance, it was lust at first sight that had awakenened his libido and went into overdrive. From there, he had a sextastic relationship with Kendra and corresponds with her via text and Skype, until they rendezvous and meet again over the months. While Kendra goes through some issues with her parents and trying to get her sex toy to get up and running into the markets, Max is on a healthy diet and underwent vigorous training to get back into the game. When he sprained his ankle, that's when things took a different turn, when she cared for him and didn't except to fall for him, until he plans to break it off with her. For a short while, they went their separate ways until Max prepared to let go of his late wife's memory and began to heal and love again with Kendra. In the end, they have a happy ending of their own.
This was a truly moving and gripping sports romance novel that's centered around hockey, on and off the ice. I really cared for Max and Kendra's relationship, and how they had their own ghosts in the past that make them truly different and special. I did find it a bit too overbearing for Max to have an active sex drive and used the F word a lot. But I loved how Max healed and let himself find love again by finding love of his own. I loved the NYC and Chicago settings in the stadium and at Max's condo. He does seem to be a down-to-earth guy and Kendra was the perfect match for him. This would make you want to fan yourself and clear those steamy windows, sigh and gasp, and maybe cover your eyes every now and then. This has steamy romance, non-stop action, drama and suspense every step of the way.

Between the two of them, they defied the odds in order to be together to have their own future.
This paranormal romance had some humorous moments and red-hot sexy scenes. I did care for Roman who waited for the right woman to give him hope and make him a better person. Some of his Highlander Guards were a bit charming as well. I also adored Shanna, who had her own issues and overcame her fear of blood. I've found Ivan a bit creepy as Hell. I did like the Romatech laboratory in NYC was made for a fascinating setting as the locations were vivid and bright with color. This would make you laugh out loud, feel chilled all over, feel faint, and swoon in this terrfic love story that has a bite to sink you teeth into... on the first page. It has explosive romance, drama, non-stop action and prickles of intrigue.

I've grown fond on Reid and have found Mia and Sara were a hoot. I did think Rick and Maggie do make an adorable couple. The town of Cricket Creek itself was picturesque and enchanting with its eye-catching settings for the perfect location. This would make you want to swoon and sigh, fan yourself, dream and wish upon a star with non-stop action, drama, tons of passionate romance, and a hint of intrigue in every way.

Bloodline
In James Rollins's Bloodline, the 8th installment in this exhilerating thriller series, this novel would take you to the edge of your seat and make you drop your jaw. It all started when the president's pregnant daughter was kidnapped by Somali pirates and later lost her husband in a brutal bloodfest. Then they've taken her to a secret cabin and want her unborn son for nefarious reasons. Back in the United States, while Grey Pierce deals with family issues of his own, he learns about Amanda Gant Bennett's kidnapping overseas from Director Painter Crowe and prepares his team to go on a most dangerous covert operation they ever been on. They also recruited Sargeant Tucker Wayne and his trusted K-9 solider dog Kane to join their force on this rescue mission that would take them above and beyond. Inside the fertilty clinic in the Carolinas, Kat and Lisa from Sigma go undercover to learn the top secrets and why they wanted Amanda's baby. When discovered, it had put them in a most precious situation of their own and fought for their lives. Meanwhile, when they thought they've found Amanda on a secret island near Dubai, the president had put pressure for him to abort their mission and to terminate the Sigma Force's mission. But when Painter learn the hidden truth of who's behind it, it made the president rethink his strategy and to listen to what he said. Little did they know, that someone real close to the White House wanted to play God with genetics and nanotechnology for the immortal greater good. In the end, the truth would come out on who was behind it and who played the better hand, when they would suffer the consequences with a terrible fate.
This thriller was fantasticly thrilling and bone-chilling numb at the same time. I did care for every member of Sigma Force and including Tucker and Kane too. I did find compassion for Amanda and the president, while some close to them plotted a real sick and sinister plot. The storyline was mind-blowing and utterly gripping to dip deep and then delve into the heart of someone playing God with medicine and science. I did love the vast locations from the Carolinas to Africa and then all the way into the Middle East for that remote island known as Utopia. Each scenic setting was eye-popping to read on the page from one place to another. This would leave you speechless and feeling chilled in the end with non-stop action, drama, intense intrigue and mind-gripping mystery from start to finish.
