In Maggie K Black's Cold Case Secrets, the 4th installment in the True North Heroes romantic suspense series, this novel would have you hooked on the first page. For RCMP Detective Jacob Henry, all he wanted to do is to find the truth about his sister's murder, a cold case that remained unsolved for over a decade. For the Ontario regiment, he's on the manhunt for three ruthless convicts who escaped from prison until he ran into Grace Finch, a hostage who needed his help. From the instant they met, there was something about her and what she was hiding from him. On the search to find his late sister's Faith's locket in the cabin, he followed Grace, an investigative reporter, straight there. But it left him with more questions than answers. more than never. For Grace, she had feelings for Jacob and had been rebuffed from him when she wanted to ask him out for coffee. But she kept a secret from him: Hal Turner is her biological father who escaped from prison and wanted to speak to her. Together, they learned to trust one each other and to find out the truth which led them onto a path of danger and a trail of corruption to someone closest to Jacob with a shocking ending on whodunit and why.
This was a great heart-pounding romantic suspense that took you front and center in the middle of the action. I cared for Jacob who wanted answers on why his sister Faith was killed. He wouldn't get peace until he found out for it. I also cared for Grace, who harbored such an unearthing secret that might've killed their friendship and something else. But I'm glad they've put their faith in God and rescued each other to find each other. They both put their hearts and their lives on the line. I loved the intense scenic settings and memorable locations throughout Ontario's woods and outside of it. This would make you want to root for Grace and Jacob as they defied the odds with non-stop action, plenty of drama, suspense, and sparks of romance through and through.
Will you be there to discover the truth in Cold Case Secrets today?
