In Laura McHugh's the Wolf Wants In, this scintillating thriller will send you guessing and leave you at the edge of the seat. It all started for Sadie Keller, a single mother, who's looking for answers on what happened to her brother Shane and how he died. Her sister-in-law Krystle might be hiding something when she investigated the truth of the matter. In Blackwater, Kansas, news had broken out about Macey Calhoun's little body had been found out. A lot of suspicion went down on who could've done it in that small town. As for Henley Pettitt, her sister-in-law's cousin, she knows what happened to Shane and works as a housekeeper for Earl Sullivan. Though she might've fallen head over heels with his son Jason, who had a ton of emotional baggage to claim, she wanted to get out of those small opioid-ravaged town fast. Between the two of them, they would find justice, peace of mind, and piece together what happened to Shane Keller and set things right to move on with their lives.
This is a gripping thriller that deals with real life events on how the opioid crisis had taken over small towns and innocent young lives. You hear it on the news everyday. I did care for Sadie on how she would do anything to learn the truth about her brother's death. I also felt sad for poor Gravy who mourned Shane's loss and had no will to eat. That really pulled at my heartstrings. I also cared for Henley who's mother had her own issues and ended up in jail. But she would do anything to get out of town and find some peace of mind to set her free for a new life. I did love the Shade Tree/Blackwater small town scenes in rural Kansas and how picturesque the settings were for those ideal locations. The ending would leave you speechless on how it came together like a jigsaw puzzle with non-stop action, plenty of intrigue, hints of mystery and a spark of drama.
Will you be there with Sadie in the Wolf Wants In today?
