Map of the Heart

In Susan Wiggs's Map of the Heart, this beautiful heart-warming tale is so moving and beautiful about finding love with two love stories interwoven into one. It all started for Camille Adams, a widow and single mother of a teenage daughter named Julie, who works at her mother's store and also a photographer who restores old film. When she worked on restoring Professor Malcolm Finnemore's  film from his late father's camera, she received a phone call about her daughter being in the ER and accidentally destroyed the film. That's when she met Finn and had gotten off on the wrong foot with her. Later, when he discovered what caused it to happen, he began to understand and had gotten to know her better. Meanwhile, Julie's been bullied at school and wants to fit in with others as there's a chemistry sparking between Camille and Finn whenever they're together. At her father's place, he told his story about his he's been bullied because of his father allied with in World War II. With the help of Finn, Camille and his team look into his background to discover his genealogical history on who fathered him when it transported us back to that turbulent war-time when they visit Bellerive France. While on this trip, Julie makes new friends and transforms herself and the romance builds between Camille, who's afraid to fall in love again, and Finn, who wants to build a life with her. In the end, that summer changed their lives when learn about the past that held him back and revealed secrets in the dark to give them a happy ending.

This was a beautiful written woman's fiction novel that tugged your heart strings. I instantly cared for Camille and Julie and how they dealt with significant life issues in Bethany Bay. I felt a true connection between Camille and Finn who didn't hit it off in the beginning, but they make a great team to discover her father's true biological roots. I did feel a connection for Lisette Galli, Henry's father, who was forced in a loveless volatile marriage and found love when she at least expected it with someone else before her untimely death. And I loved how Henry came out and confessed his darkest secret to his family in the end.  I loved the dual locations of present day Bethany Bay by the shore and war-time France during the World War II.  Both had captured the scenic settings wonderfully. The dual themes are to be kind to others and led your heart guide you to find true love.

If you love woman's fiction novels with heart-stopping drama, plenty of action, lots of intrigue, and passionate romance, check out Map of the Heart today.
