The Lost

    In this blog post, I reviewed Jeffrey B. Burton’s the Lost, the third installment in the Mace Reid K-9 mystery thriller series, this spine-tingling thriller is twisted and full of suspense on every page. It all started for Mace and Kippy Gimm, when they received a phone call about a kidnapping. Kennneth Druckmann’s daughter Eleanor has gone missing. While Mace and Kippy search for the missing girl with Vira, they later learn that it’s more complicated than that with her father’s sole involvement in this sadistic plot from the beginning when they tracked him down, until his own untimely demise. Temporarily, Eleanor finds out that her former nanny Britt helped keep her safe from the bad guys, though Britt was already into the thick of things. As the search is on to find Britt and Elle, so were the bad guys who had other plans for them to take them to Russia and beyond. In a race against time, Mace, Kippy, and Vira were in hot pursuit of them, and later discovered a shocking twist in the end. 

This compelling mystery thriller will keep you at the edge of your seat with full-throttle suspense on every page. I cared about Mace and his delightful K-9 dog pack with Vira leading the way. He cares about his job and his dogs, especially Sue who was injured from a previous case, and has strong feelings for his partner, Kippy. A possible good love match in the end. The scenic settings from Lake Michigan to Lake Geneva and in Detroit were picturesque for the location. 

I rated this book, four out of five stars, because I love K-9 stories featuring lovable dogs of all breeds to look for missing people or buried remains. If you love heart-pounding mystery thrillers with non-stop suspense and high-octane dramatic action, you’ll love the Lost and other books in the series. This book is recommended for fans of Margaret Mizushima, Nora Roberts’s “the Search”, David Rosenfelt, and Alex Kava.

Tough Justice

    In this blog post, I reviewed Tee O’Fallon’s Tough Justice, the first installment in the K-9 Special Ops romantic suspense series. This debut is packed with suspense and keeps you hooked on every page. For Dr. Victoria Sampson, she promised to not get involved with the DEA, knowing what they’ve done and had destroyed her family years ago. She had witnessed too many young people die from a dangerous opioid cocktail called gray death in the ER. But when she meets DEA Agent Adam “Deck” Decker, things change after they work together on saving lives to chase down a dangerous drug dealer in Denver and its suburbs. For Deck, he lost his sister Marianne to drugs years ago when he couldn’t save her in time and blamed himself for it. But after Tori saved his life from being exposed to gray death, he wanted her to work with him by gathering information from her patients to help with their investigation. When things get intense for a warrant, it puts them into a precarious situation from being stalked and placing them in danger. And when she had saved his life with an opioid, he didn't want it, knowing what it did to her sister, and caused a rift between them. During their time apart, Tori became suspicious of her fellow coworkers and tried to put the pieces together. When she did, it was almost too late to stop it, putting her life into peril. Will Deck save her in time to rescue her and mend her broken heart by making a compromise. 

This thrilling romantic suspense is gripping and is timely with the opioid crisis you hear about in the news.  I cared for Tori, who worked hard to get where she wanted to be ‘till this day as an Er doctor, in spite of the financial crisis her family was in. I cared for Deck, who loves his job as an DEA agent, and working with Thor, his beloved dog, to get drugs off the streets. Thor was adorably sweet. They make an incredible team and an awesome couple. The location in Denver and its vicinity was picturesque with mesmerizing scenic settings to take you there.The theme of the story is to defeat the odds to make a relationship work, you have to compromise when it comes to love.

This gripping romantic suspense is awesome and a heart-stopping read. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because for no reason. If you love romances with non-stop romantic action, plenty of romantic drama, and heart-pounding tension Tough Justice should be added to your TBR list. This book is recommended for fans who love romantic suspense novels featuring K-9s like Margaret Mizushima and Sandra Brown.

Under Pressure

  In  this blog post, I reviewed Sara Driscoll’s Under Pressure,  the 6th installment in the FBI K-9 thriller series. This new thriller is riveting and compelling on every page from start to finish. For Meg Jennings, a former cop and K-9 dog handler, it was nothing but a routine search and rescue mission with her dog Hawk. While things were going good with her partner Todd Webb, a firefighter/paramedic, she received a call from her boss to go on a special assignment for the FBI. They needed her to trail an undercover agent named Finn Pierce who investigated an illegal diamond trade joint on in Philadelphia. Between her and her colleague Ryan and his dog Lacey, they did a practice trail without giving themselves and his location away after a couple of tries.  When they passed, they dealt with the real thing and real big-time danger dealing with the Philly crime family and their illegal crime operations in the city. When someone attacked her and the dog, it became personal. And when danger attacked her, it hit close to home when she fought for her life. When her sister’s partner go missing, it’s up to Meg and Hawk, Brian and Lacey to find him before it’s too late to save him.

This K-9 thriller is suspenseful and daring. I cared for Meg on how she cared for her sister and for her dog Hawk. I could see the passion in her eyes and why she loved her job as a SAR dog handler. I also cared for Brian, Webb, McCord, and Cara. They were a stellar cast of characters. Hawk and Lacey were amazing dogs who took care of her owners. The locations set in Philly, Washington D.C, and Virginia were picturesque with vivid scenic settings. The theme of the story is watch your step when trouble follows you home.

This twisted K-9 thriller is captivating and keeps you wanting to read more. I couldn’t find anything to nitpick on since I love dog-themed novels. I rated this book, four out of five stars for no reason. If you love K-9 thrillers with twists and turns with riveting non-stop action, plenty of dramatic suspense, and tons of drama, Under Pressure is right up your alley. This book is recommended for those who love Margaret Mizushima, dog-centric thrillers, and K-9/FBI thrillers and dramas.

Following the Lead

  In this blog post, I reviewed Lynnette Eason’s Following the Trail, the 5th installment in the K-9 Search and Rescue romantic suspense series, this romantic suspense would keep you hook and in suspense from start to finish. It all started for Lacey Jefferson, a K-9 Search and Rescue worker, when she was worried that she haven’t heard back from her sister Fawn. She wasn’t answering her call and believed she might be missing. And that took her and her K-9 dog Scarlett down to her hometown of Timber Creek, North Carolina, a place she haven’t been to in over a decade. To search for Fawn, she requested the help from Creed Payne, the sheriff of Timber Creek, and her former high school boyfriend. Old memories return to the surface of the break-up and how everyone hated her criminal father back then. For Creed, he has a small sheriff’s office in Timber Creek and need a K-9 unit for search and rescue mission. When Lacey retuned back to down requesting his help to look for Fawn, he’d thought of a compelling plan to keep her here with him to lead his K-9 unit. When the search for Fawn turned grim, it was up to Lacey and Creed to search for answers on who wanted her sister dead and why. The closer they’ve gotten to the truth, the most they continued to dig for it while staying out of harm’s way. In the end, would Lacey stay and make a new go at Timber Creek or return back to Charlotte to find her true happiness.

This was a deeply moving and riveting romantic suspense that features K-9 Search and Rescue dogs. That always warms my heart. I cared for Lacey on how she had to go back home to deal with the hurt from the past and stuck to her guns to get to the truth of her sister’s murder. I loved Creed on how he would do anything for Lacey and became a true friend to Scarlett, even by standing in the crossfires of a killer on the loose. I loved how they would thrown together in the mix of things and resolved old hurts from the past to make amends for a brighter future. The location of Timber Creek was idyllic for the scenic settings from Fawn’s home and to the hospital and beyond. The theme of the story is that it’s time to let go of the past to find your future.

This romantic suspense made you want to root for Lacey and Scarlett and cheer them on. I couldn’t find anything to nitpick on the story since it was so good. I rated this book, four out of five stars for no specific reason. If you love heart-stopping romantic suspense novels with plenty of non-stop action, lots of romantic drama, tons of heated suspense, give Following the Lead a read today. This book is recommended for fans who love K-9 centric stories like Margaret Mizushima’s mysteries series, or romantic suspense and thriller novels alike.
