Dockside Danger

 In this blog post, I reviewed Carol Ericson’s Dockside Danger, the third installment in The Lost Girls romantic suspense series, This caper had plenty of heat, romantic suspense, and twists and turns. For LAPD Detective Jane Falco, it all started for her when she landed a complicated domestic case. She had recently been given a hard time at the LAPD, since everyone knew about how she goes through her partners. And she hoped her partner, Damon Carter, would work out for her. But at the crime scene, she’s reunited with her former flame, FBI Agent Tim Ruskin. Tim couldn’t believe his luck when he ran into Jane after she formerly had known him as his undercover name as Terry Rush in a previous case. Together, they work on a case to locate missing and trafficked Russian women and investigate the Bratva connection. Though the heat was on, and the chemistry between them was cranked up a notch, someone wanted to do more than rattle Jane’s cage. In the end, they took down the bad guys in a fierce battle of life-and-death. 

This scintillating romantic suspense has a compelling fast-paced plot.  I cared for Jane, who had more than her fair share at work and in romance. I also cared for Tim, who wanted to find Lana and bring her home safely. The scenic settings for Los Angeles were idealistic and picturesque for the location. The dual themes of the story is give love a second chance, while greed could lead you to danger. 

I rated this sexy romantic suspense novel, four of five stars, for no reason. If you love heated romantic suspense novels with non-stop dramatic action, and plenty of sizzling, heart-pounding suspense, Dockside Danger is one to read this year. This book is recommended for fans of Karen Rose, Lisa Jackson, and Lisa Gardner.

Tough Justice

    In this blog post, I reviewed Tee O’Fallon’s Tough Justice, the first installment in the K-9 Special Ops romantic suspense series. This debut is packed with suspense and keeps you hooked on every page. For Dr. Victoria Sampson, she promised to not get involved with the DEA, knowing what they’ve done and had destroyed her family years ago. She had witnessed too many young people die from a dangerous opioid cocktail called gray death in the ER. But when she meets DEA Agent Adam “Deck” Decker, things change after they work together on saving lives to chase down a dangerous drug dealer in Denver and its suburbs. For Deck, he lost his sister Marianne to drugs years ago when he couldn’t save her in time and blamed himself for it. But after Tori saved his life from being exposed to gray death, he wanted her to work with him by gathering information from her patients to help with their investigation. When things get intense for a warrant, it puts them into a precarious situation from being stalked and placing them in danger. And when she had saved his life with an opioid, he didn't want it, knowing what it did to her sister, and caused a rift between them. During their time apart, Tori became suspicious of her fellow coworkers and tried to put the pieces together. When she did, it was almost too late to stop it, putting her life into peril. Will Deck save her in time to rescue her and mend her broken heart by making a compromise. 

This thrilling romantic suspense is gripping and is timely with the opioid crisis you hear about in the news.  I cared for Tori, who worked hard to get where she wanted to be ‘till this day as an Er doctor, in spite of the financial crisis her family was in. I cared for Deck, who loves his job as an DEA agent, and working with Thor, his beloved dog, to get drugs off the streets. Thor was adorably sweet. They make an incredible team and an awesome couple. The location in Denver and its vicinity was picturesque with mesmerizing scenic settings to take you there.The theme of the story is to defeat the odds to make a relationship work, you have to compromise when it comes to love.

This gripping romantic suspense is awesome and a heart-stopping read. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because for no reason. If you love romances with non-stop romantic action, plenty of romantic drama, and heart-pounding tension Tough Justice should be added to your TBR list. This book is recommended for fans who love romantic suspense novels featuring K-9s like Margaret Mizushima and Sandra Brown.

The Gossip

  In this blog post, I reviewed Nancy Bush’s The Gossip, the 2nd installment in the River Glen romantic suspense series. This romantic suspense will have you at the edge of your seat. For former cop Mackenzie Laughlin, it all started for her when she was assigned to look for Rayne Sealy, who had been reportedly missing by her best friend Bibi. While she looked into her disappearance, she looked for clues in her life from her family and friends. Back at the Ridge Point Assisted Living facility, she’s been the latest gossip among the ladies including Emma Whelon, who might have a piece of the puzzle. But when her body was founds in the river weeds, she knew something sinister happened to her. And that’s when she hooked up with Jesse James Taft, a PI who’s working on a different angle on the same case with the same suspect in mind. While they worked together, someone lurked int he distance, keeping an eye on the investigation and the players involved with a watchful eye. He hated the pretty mean girls who made fun of him in high school. And now it was his time to pay them back with karma. During the investigation, they begin to connect the dots and piece the puzzle together while they’ve gotten underneath each other’s skin. When they’ve thought they had the right suspect to help out the RGPD, they guessed wrong when it hit come to home for Mackenzie as she fought for her life to bring him down in the end.

 This twisted romantic suspense will send you goosebumps and take you on a wild ride. I cared for Mackenzie who wanted her job back at the police force and climb the ladder her own way. A woman on a mission, she cared for her mother and step-sister while she needed to find a place of her own. As for Taft, I’ve found him charming and amusing as a PI, and how he cared for her and Carnoff’s two pugs. They do make a helluva team and have great chemistry with each other. The dual locations of River Glen and Laurelton Oregon painted a vivid picture to the scene. The theme of the story is if you don’t have nothing nice to say, they don’t say it at all since what goes around comes around.

This spine-tingling romantic suspense has all the right ingredients splashed together for a recipe of a great read this summer. I did find one thing to nitpick on since most spots were repetitive in nature in some scenes. I rated this book, four out of five stars because of some dragged spots. If you love romantic suspense with spine-tingling suspense, a splash of romantic drama, and tons of non-stop breath-taking action, The Gossip is the one for you. This book is recommended for readers who love Lisa Jackson, Karen Rose, and other romantic suspense novels that make you want to read more.

Following the Lead

  In this blog post, I reviewed Lynnette Eason’s Following the Trail, the 5th installment in the K-9 Search and Rescue romantic suspense series, this romantic suspense would keep you hook and in suspense from start to finish. It all started for Lacey Jefferson, a K-9 Search and Rescue worker, when she was worried that she haven’t heard back from her sister Fawn. She wasn’t answering her call and believed she might be missing. And that took her and her K-9 dog Scarlett down to her hometown of Timber Creek, North Carolina, a place she haven’t been to in over a decade. To search for Fawn, she requested the help from Creed Payne, the sheriff of Timber Creek, and her former high school boyfriend. Old memories return to the surface of the break-up and how everyone hated her criminal father back then. For Creed, he has a small sheriff’s office in Timber Creek and need a K-9 unit for search and rescue mission. When Lacey retuned back to down requesting his help to look for Fawn, he’d thought of a compelling plan to keep her here with him to lead his K-9 unit. When the search for Fawn turned grim, it was up to Lacey and Creed to search for answers on who wanted her sister dead and why. The closer they’ve gotten to the truth, the most they continued to dig for it while staying out of harm’s way. In the end, would Lacey stay and make a new go at Timber Creek or return back to Charlotte to find her true happiness.

This was a deeply moving and riveting romantic suspense that features K-9 Search and Rescue dogs. That always warms my heart. I cared for Lacey on how she had to go back home to deal with the hurt from the past and stuck to her guns to get to the truth of her sister’s murder. I loved Creed on how he would do anything for Lacey and became a true friend to Scarlett, even by standing in the crossfires of a killer on the loose. I loved how they would thrown together in the mix of things and resolved old hurts from the past to make amends for a brighter future. The location of Timber Creek was idyllic for the scenic settings from Fawn’s home and to the hospital and beyond. The theme of the story is that it’s time to let go of the past to find your future.

This romantic suspense made you want to root for Lacey and Scarlett and cheer them on. I couldn’t find anything to nitpick on the story since it was so good. I rated this book, four out of five stars for no specific reason. If you love heart-stopping romantic suspense novels with plenty of non-stop action, lots of romantic drama, tons of heated suspense, give Following the Lead a read today. This book is recommended for fans who love K-9 centric stories like Margaret Mizushima’s mysteries series, or romantic suspense and thriller novels alike.

Faceless

 In this blog post, I reviewed Alexandra Ivy's Faceless, the second installment in the Pike, Wisconsin romantic suspense series. This story would leave you chilled and send goosebumps on your skin. Twenty-five years ago, Wynter Moore's mother Laurel was killed in an armed robbery with a faceless killer. Now on the anniversary of her death, she travels to Pike, Wisconsin, and searches for answers on that unsolved mystery that haunted her to this day. Though she wasn't close enough to her father as she wanted to be, she lived a good life and started her own restaurant Wynter Garden in Larkin, Iowa.  She  reunited with her childhood best friend, Noah Heller, a conservation officer, who later teamed up with her. But with one clue from the past, it set the path for her to discover the truth about her mother's death and her secret life. Though Noah had always had feelings for Wynter, they both share an unshakeable bond--they both went to the same therapy group since they both lost their parents to a senseless tragedy. And that had brought them closer together than ever before. But, the real killer called the Stranger followed her every move, killing people who might know the truth and reveal their identity, who  might stand in their way. The closer she gets to the truth to finding out why someone wanted her mother dead, the more it puts Noah and her in precarious danger until the ultimate climax in the end  to take their relationship to another level. 

This was a compelling and bone-chilling fascinating friends-to-lovers romantic suspense novel. I cared for Wynter for her search for the truth and the deep-rooted feelings she carried for Noah. I loved how she grew her own vegetables for her restaurant and became her own individual to blaze her own path. Though danger and trouble shadowed her, I became concerned and feared for her and her safety. I loved how Noah's protective of her and is a park ranger in Iowa. I didn't like Linda one bit. Both dual locations--Larkin, Iowa and Pike, Wisconsin--were beautifully depicted with mesmerizing scenic settings from her garden, to her grandfather's house, the cabin in Pike, and so on. It sucked me right in from the first page. The theme of the story is that greed and jealousy don't mix like vinegar and water.

If you love heart-stopping romantic suspense novels with non-stop action, plenty of romantic drama, lots of twists and turns, and mind-numbing chills along the way, Faceless is the perfect book for you.

Between Two Thieves

 In Sloane Steele's Between Two Thieves, the 2nd installment in the Counterfeit Capers romantic suspense series, this latest novel will keep you on your toes and leave you in suspense. For Nikki Russo, she's a well-known art thief that works for a company that's reminiscent of the Leverage TV series, that steals for a common purpose. She knows a trick or two about stealing since her father Dodger taught her how to do it at a young age. It's all how she met and fell in love with Wade Palmer, her father's protégé, a decade ago. They were both after one particular painting, the Devereaux, at the Carlisle Museum. Little did they know they met each other at the same party pulling a con and crossed each other's paths. But they worked together for one common interest that brought them together in the first place: her father who was in deep trouble. Wade had gone straight and worked for a security consultancy firm who wanted to break free from Dodger like Nikki did. She was the one who got away so many years ago and never stopped loving her. Though they worked both sides of the fence, his dog Flynn became his best friend--it's something that Nikki never liked and feared.  They team up to pull the switch and the ultimate con to exact revenge and to get something they both want and desired--another chance to be together in the end. 

Fans of "Ocean's Eight and Eleven" (both versions) and "Leverage "would love this heist-centric themed second-chance romantic suspense novel. I cared for Nikki on how she's her own individual person and worked for a team that became like a second family. I loved how she's creative and thoughtful of stealing artwork by pulling off those masterful cons. I also cared for Wade who changed his lifestyle and did it for a greater good. He wanted to protect Nikki because he cared so much for her.  I loved the location and the scenic settings from the apartment to Wade's firm and beyond. The theme of the story is trust your gut and people can change if given a chance.

 If you love high-stakes romantic suspense with tons of heart-stopping high-octane suspense, plenty of romantic drama, lots of intrigue and thrilling chills, Between Two Thieves is perfect for you.

The Homecoming

In JoAnn Ross's The Homecoming, the first installment in the Shelter Bay romantic suspense series, this novel would move you to tears and tug your heart. For Sax Douchett, this Cajun former Navy SEAL came home from the war with the ghosts of his past. He didn't plan on going to his homecoming parade, when he met his former flame and brother's best friend's widow, Kara Conway, a widow with a son, and the sheriff of her small town. When he uncovered a skull on the beach with his dog Velcro, that's what started it all for them to uncover the truth and rekindle old feelings. For Kara, she still mourned the loss of her husband and lived with her mother, who decided to find love with her senior deputies. Between Sax and Kara, it started as friends and blossomed into something else entirely between them, when they solved two cold cases together with a connection between them all with a sweet ending.

This was a lovely and tender romantic suspense novel. I really cared about Kara and Trey, Faith, and Sax. I loved the cold case connection to the novel to bring closure in the end. Shelter Bay sounded so idealistic and heavenly to be by the coastline for a small town as the perfect setting and location. This would make you heart swell with pride and swoon for a guy like Sax to have as your own. Great drama, excellent suspense and intrigue with non-stop action, mystery and plenty of romance all around.

Every Move She Makes

In Jannine Gallant's Every Move She Makes, the first installment in the Who's Watching Now romantic suspense series, this debut novel had the markings of a success on her hands. For Grace Hanover, a reporter who would do everything for a story, she traveled to Moose Flat, Alaska for covering a story. For Travis Barnett, her bodyguard to watch over her and going for the same story, he met her there. Between the two of them, they've both had been burned in their relationships and sparks flew between them, though they're from two different cities. When an assassin targets Grace, Travis would do everything to protect her, while he was falling in love for her. As for Grace, she would discover who followed her every move and learned that it was nothing more than for revenge in the end. Later, Travis and Grace have found out they were meant for each other.

This was an excellent romantic suspense debut from Jannine Gallant. I really cared about Grace, when she experienced guilt about her former boyfriend's suicidal death. I really loved Travis with her, when they met and came together. Mason/Archer, I didn't like too much. He gave me the creeps. But I loved Grace's family, too. I love the trifecta of Alaska, Seattle and San Francisco for the locations and the settings in this novel. This made me intrigued and curious to read more on how they've turned out. Great suspense, intrigue, suspense, romance and tons of mystery.

Free Fall

In JoAnn Ross's FreeFall, the first installment in the High Risk romantic suspense series,  you'll be enticed and enthralled with the passion and the danger in this novel. We were introduced to former Navy SEAL Zachariah Tremayne and Sabrina Swann. They have both landed on Swann Island, a fictional island over in South Carolina, when nothing was where they seemed. Family secrets come back to haunt them, when there was a serial killer on the island, and someone who came gunning after Zachariah, too. And what brought them back to the island haunted them in a freefall like motion. We saw how troubled Zach was from his days overseas, and how he felt for Sabrina, and vice versa, when she survived a bombing in Italy. But the chemistry was red hot and smoldering like a wildfire.

This was another heart-pounding and explosive romantic suspense. I came to care about Zach and Sabrina, when they've escaped dangers overseas. I liked the Swann Island location off in South Carolina, since it sounded idealistic for the perfect small town location with hidden dangers. This would make you heart pound and swell with every turning page, until you can't stop reading until the ending. Great drama, excellent suspense, romance, intrigue with mystery, and lots of dangerous traps along the way.

Wrong Place Wrong Time

Set in picturesque New York, in Andrea Kane's Wrong Place, Wrong Time, she told us a dark tale of danger and intrigue. When Sally Montgomery went on a romantic encounter getaway, it was nothing but a dark terrifying nightmare. Her companion was murdered and the cabin was torched. That sent Sally riding into hiding, when the  police believe she's a suspect, and the killer want her dead. Nowhere to go and nowhere to turn for help, she went to her ex-husband, Pete Montgomery, a former cop and now a PI, with their daughter Devon, who inherited her father's intuitive genes. Devon began her search to the truth and closer to the Pierson clan, she met Blake Pierson, an Olympic gold hopeful, and his family's empire threatened, she didn't know whose side he was on. As they both race again the clock to clear her mother's name to prove her innocence, they team up as sparks fly between them, and to beat the killer in the end.

This was a heated and sexy thriller. I did feel sorry for the Montgomery family, when they dealt with a whole lot of trouble. The New York location was idealistic and creepy. I liked Devon working with her father and later more with Blake. I think they make a formidable couple as well. We could witness the sparking chemistry between them. I didn't like Blake's family members, too. This would make your heart race and your pulse rise on every page-turning suspenseful twist in the novel. Packed with great action and intense heat, this one would raise your hairs on edge.
