The One for Me

 In Rachel Hanna’s The One for Me, the first installment in the January Cove contemporary romance series, this beautiful second chance love story would sweep you off your feet. For Jenna Watson, she’s a single mother and divorced from her crummy husband. She’s hit the hard times when her house forecloses and then loses her job. Then she didn’t expect to run into her ex-boyfriend, Kyle Parker, the one she broke his heart,  years ago. For Kyle, he wanted to venture out on his own real estate business and do his own thing. But he needed his mother’s approval. But then, when she came upon Jenna and her house, he couldn’t believe his eyes. And his own luck. Memories had come crashing back to him and the old heartache. Since he didn’t want her and her daughter Kaitlyn to be homeless, he invited him to live with him on a temporary basis, until she could find a new home. During this time, they’ve gotten closer together to revisit the past and maybe to start again to fall in love. But with Jenna’s past sneaking back to her, he needed to know the truth about her and her failed marriage, and make romantic overtures to reclaim what he had lost back then. 

This sweet contemporary romance pulls at your heartstrings.  I cared for Jenna, who works so hard to support her daughter, while trying to make ends meet. I also cared for Kyle, who hasn't gotten over Jenna and her heartbreak. I loved the location of January Cove that’s settled off the coast of Georgia. It had mesmerizing scenic settings for this sweet oceanside town. The theme of the story is to believe in second chances in life, love, and happiness. 

I rated this sweet contemporary romance, four of five stars, for no reason. If you love loveswept contemporary romances with non-stop dramatic action, and plenty of sizzling, heart-pounding page-turners, you’ll fall in love with The One for Me. This book is recommended for fans of Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, Debbie Macomber, and Hallmark Movies.

Close to You

    In this blog post, I reviewed Kristen Proby’s Close to You, the second installment in the Fusion contemporary romance series. This love story will have your heart swoon and make you laugh in stitches. For Cami LaRue, she had the biggest crush on her best friend’s brother for a long time. When she was a teen, he went away to the Navy for a decade as a pilot. Now since he was home and back into her life, she wanted to mince words with him. Later on, their friendship had blossomed into something wonderful when they both revealed feelings for each other. They took their newfound relationship when they dated and went through some unexpected life-challenges along the way. For Landon, he loved flying planes for the Navy. Until he ended up injured on a mission, he recovered back home and faced Cami, the only woman he ever wanted and stole her heart. In the meantime, he became a central focus point into her life and being there for whenever she needed him. Now since he had found Cami, he never wanted to leave Portland for the longest time and found home with her. But when they dealt with an unexpected blow, they worked through the issues together and found out they were meant to be together forever.

This heartfelt  contemporary romance is truly wonderfully written and moves your heart. This  romance has all the right ingredients for a great love story. I I cared for Cami, who loves her work at the restaurant, and had issues with Scoot, a wilty cat. I loved how she cared for her nephew and having fun with her besties. I adored Landon Palazzo, and loved how he took care of her and all of her needs, even if he dealt with her cat Scoot. The location in Portland Oregon was loveswept with mesmerizing scenic settings to take you places.The theme of the story is absence makes the heart grow fonder and stronger with every heartbeat.

This endearing contemporary romance is top-notch and perfect for a steamy Love story. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because it was an emotional read.  If you love romances with non-stop romantic action, plenty of romantic drama, and heart-stopping intrigue, Close to You should be added to your TBR list. This book is recommended for fans who love Hallmark Channel movies, Kristan Higgins, Jennifer Probst, and other romance novels.

Daughters of Magpie Cove

   In this blog post, I reviewed Kennedy Kerr’s Daughters of Magpie Cove, the third installment in the Magpie Cove contemporary romance/women's fiction series. This tale deals with family secrets, a second chance for love, and the ties that bind us together. For Connie Christie, her return to her beloved Magpie Cove in Wales had a rough welcoming return. She ran into Alex Gordon, someone she knew from her past schooling days, at the pub. They had a rough start. Besides a family reunion with her mother and uncle, she ran across some old classmates from school that gave her a hard time. Someone had been stalking her and leaving her nasty notes, while she worked as her family’s museum manager and tour boat guide across the waters. As she had gotten closer to Alex, the more she was in peril to stay at her hometown. She didn’t know who wanted to do something harmful to her, though she wanted it to stop before it would drive her away. Would she follow her heart to stay at home with Alex or take a chance on her dream career?

This compelling contemporary romance pulls at your heart and deals with bullying, mental health, and finding true love unexpectedly. This is beautifully written and heart-wrenching to see what Connie had gone through. I also cared for Alex as he became the hero for her and loved her with his heart. The location of Magpie Cove, Wales, took you places with lovely scenic settings. The theme of the story is love one another and bury the past since people can change over the years.

This moving romance tugs your heartstrings. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because I would’ve loved to see Alex’s POV.  If you love women's fiction novels and contemporary romances with non-stop dramatic action, plenty of romantic intrigue, and heart-stopping twists and turns, Daughters of Magpie Cove will make you weep. This is recommended for fans who love contemporary romances and women's fiction novels like Marion Keyes, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Wiggs, and Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Still The One

  In this blog review, I read Jill Shalvis’  Still the One, the sixth installment in the Animal Magnetism contemporary romance series. This beautiful contemporary romance would sleep you off your feet and have you crying tears of joy at the end. Darcy Stone is a true survivor in every sense of the word. She survived a nasty car accident and had the scars to live to tell about it. She lost her job as a travel writer for National Geographic. But she never felt loved by her missionary parents.  She just wanted a place to call her own as her home and somewhere to belong. She worked at Belle Haven Wellness Center when she matched therapy dogs to their owners. But AJ Colten, a former Navy vet, had always ruffled her father and cared for her, even if he was her brother Wyatt’s best friend. When he needed somebody to help him land an important grant for his physical therapy, he asked Darcy to go to Boise with him. From there, they pretended to become a couple and learned to trust each other and their instincts. But during a snowstorm, all bets were off when they revealed how they felt for each other. Back home, things had changed. Would Darcy will be willing to let go of the past to love AJ? Or lose her newfound happiness altogether. 

This heartfelt contemporary romance is so moving and emotionally packed. This romance is well-written and beautiful from start to finish. I cared for Darcy who suffered so much, and needed to feel wanted and loved by the people who care about her the most. I also adored AJ who would bend over backwards to be with Darcy, his true love. The dual locations of Sunshine and Boise Idaho were picture perfect to transport you there. The theme of the story is beauty is in the eye of the beholder, when the inside counts, scars and all.

This contemporary romance is off the charts and leave you speechless.  I had no issues with this book.  I rated this book, five out of five stars, because it was a tear-jerker.  If you love contemporary romance thrillers that deals with pet rescues, you’ve love Still The One.  It’s recommended for fans who love Debbie Mason, Roxanne St. Claire, and Marina Adair. 

Night After Night

  In this blog, I reviewed Lauren Blakely’s Night After Night, the first  installment in the Seductive Nights contemporary romance series. This love story is so steamy and smoldering hot. Julia Bell is a bartender at a hot nightclub in San Francisco. When her sister McKenna hooked her up with Clay Nichols, an entertainment lawyer from New York City, the first night they met was red-hot after their first kiss. Besides their long-distance relationship and casual weekend visits to see each other, they couldn’t stop thinking about each other and seeing each other whenever they’ve gotten the chance. For Julia, she needed to keep the people she loved and cared about at a wide distance so they wouldn’t get harm. Her past had caught up to her. Until her debit was paid to a nasty loan shark, she couldn’t afford to fall too deeply with Clay and give him what he wants. For Clay, he had been burned by his ex who lied about her substance abuse addiction and problems. When he visited her for business, he would do anything to protect her, but if she continued to push him away and lie to him, would she be able to break free from that bind at any cost? This book had a happily for now ending in the series.

This was a steamy contemporary romance that kept me intrigued to know more about this sexy relationship they had with each other.  I cared for Julia and how she cared for the people she loved and would do anything to protect them. But as her past continued to sneak up on her, she would do anything to keep the close people in her world close to her even at wide berth. I felt for Clay who wanted to be with Julia, but remained concerned about how she kept putting off on telling the truth. I worried for the both of them. The dual locations of San Francisco and New York City worked out well for this smexy contemporary romance to portray a long-distance relationship.The theme is that honest is the best policy to break the binds that hold you.

This hot contemporary romance was smoldering hot and fascinated to read. I couldn’t find anything fault to nitpick on, other than to read the next book in the series to find out how it turned out.  I rated this book, four out of five stars, because  of the way it ended. If you love steamy contemporary romances that make you want to yearn for more with plenty of romantic action, a dose off steamy suspense, and heart-stopping non-stop drama, check out Night After Night.  This book is recommended for fans who love smoldering contemporary romance novels.

Tamed by You

  In Kate Perry’s Tamed by You, the 7th installment in the Laurel Heights contemporary romance series, this enchanted contemporary romance is sweet and endearing about finding the perfect love match with two love stories all wrapped up in one.  Valentine Jones is a matchmaker in a family-run business in Laurel Heights, when she sets up people to find their soul mates. But when she met Ethan “The Hulk” Hunter, a former prizefighter, all bets are off, when she set her sights on him. And then meet Sophie Martineau, an older woman who’s beautiful and known for her starring roles in romantic comedy movies. So when her career is stalling,  she decides to hide out in her friend Daniela’s home and later flirted with her brother, Antonio, an agent.  No matter how hard she tried, Valentine wanted Ethan for herself, though she broken a cardinal rule on dating one of her clients. She also had to deal with her mother’s interfering  and meddling ways and heart condition. If she breaks her heart, it might kill her. She needed a way out of the business and to stay in Ethan’s arms. Sophie befriends Julie a florist and ask her for advice, while she tiptoes around Tony and couldn’t escape a passionate kiss. Both couple had to endure some hurdles to get the happy ending they want and need. But would it be worth the risk  for both Valerie and Sophie to take a chance on love?
 
This was a sweet contemporary romance. I loved Valentine and how she made a name for herself in another way. She might be lousy as match making, but she had found her calling with something else and a better fit for her. Ethan was a. “Hulk” indeed. But with a little help from Valentine, he took a chance to follow his own dreams to pursue better mouth guarding for fighting in the ring. He wasn’t bad eye candy himself. For Sophie and Tony, they might be total opposites, but they fit together like a glove. I loved them both and how Tony encouraged Sophie to try something else while her acting career sizzled.  The Laurel Heights neighborhood in San Francisco was classy and mesmerizing to pit these two couples together in one heart-warming romance. The theme of the story is taking a chance on love and a bigger gamble to follow their heart’s desires.

I really loved this story when we fall in love with two couples who find their true loves and conquered obstacles to get through it all.  I couldn’t find anything nitpick about it. This  sweet and wonderful contemporary romance would make your heart melt like butter.. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because it ended way too soon for me in this enjoyable. If you love plenty of heart-stopping romance, plenty of action, lots of non-stop romantic drama, and sparks of humor, Tamed by You is perfect for you. This is recommended to everyone who loves contemporary romances and loves to watch Hallmark movies too. 

The Twelve Days of Snowball

  In Kristen McKavanagh’s The Twelve Days of Snowball, the 2nd installment in the Snowball contemporary romance series, this Christmas-themed contemporary romance is tender-hearted and sweet with some funny moments.  Sophie Heidt is the newest hotel manager of the Weber Haus hotel for the Christmas season. She had heart broken by her boyfriend who stole her dreams away from landing a role at her top-choice hotel. During the Christmas season, she’s in charge of the hotel in Braunfels and runs into Snowball, an adorable white kitten who’s the official kitty of the Victorian B&B Inn. And then she runs into Daniel Aarons, the construction foreman, who she had butted heads with on a daily basis. While she had gotten into the Christmas spirit, she dealt with entertaining guests, have preparations made for the Christmas Market, and deal with hilarious moments when it comes to Snowball and her match-making ways. As for Daniel, his best friend recuperated at the hospital and needed to pick up the pieces to finish what he started on the job to help Sophie get ready. Though she infuriated him at first, he learned to get on her good side and deal with whatever she needed to help the hotel. But they were two people who stood in his way, his competitor named Jannik Boch, and Giselle, a former childhood flame who had her eyes set on him. While he made Christmas magic with Sophie, they had a few laughs together and realized how good they were for each other. But when Sophie received an interview for her dream job at the hotel, would she follow her heart or make dreams when she felt at home with her new friends to celebrate the holiday spirit?

This was a delightful Christmas-themed contemporary romance. Snowball was a hoot in all of her kitten-like ways to bring Daniel and Sophie together. I cared about Sophie on how she dealt with all the innings and outings of running a hotel during the holiday season and beyond it. I loved how she friended Clara and handled Snowball in more ways than one.  I adored Daniel and was glad that he came to the senses and be on Sophie’s side all the time. I loved how the “Twelve Days of Christmas” theme was interwoven throughout the storyline for the theme. The location of Braunfels was enchanting and unique from the B&B and to the Christmas Market with vivid imaginary scenic settings for the location. The theme of the story is that you can make your dreams come true anywhere if you believe in yourself.

I loved how it dealt with finding love during the holidays. This was heartfelt and moved me to tears. I rate this book, five out of five stars, because it was a powerful read and well-written. This is recommended to everyone who loves to read Christmas-themed contemporary romances and loves Hallmark movies. Second Chance at Sunflower Ranch

  In Carolyn Brown’s Second Chance at Sunflower Ranch, the first installment in the Ryan family contemporary romance series, this sweet second chance friends-to-lovers love story about Addy and Jesse warms your heart.  After twenty years with the Air Force as a medic, Jesse Ryan returns home to Honey Grove, Texas, to return to his family’s ranch. But he runs into Addison Hall, his childhood best friend Addison Hall, and his daughter Mia, he didn’t know he had with her in an on-night stand. While he returns to ranching, he gets to know Mia, who’s a bit rebellious in nature, and sparks ignite and fly between him and Addy. As his father’s live-in nurse, Addison kept Mia a secret for him and didn’t want it to ruin his dreams. While she managed to be a single mother for so long, she kept her friends for him a secret, though it did run rampant every time he kissed her or touched her. While they did with family business in the small town, they’ve gotten to get past Mia’s wild side and the town gossip, they’ve had to follow their hearts to get the happiness they truly deserved and wanted for so long.

This was a beautiful love story that pulled at my heart strings and feel deep emotions about this second chance romance. I adored Jesse on how he dealt with the situation about learning about Mia and taken hold of the situation at his home ranch. I loved how he wanted to stay close at home and be where he belonged with Addy. He never left anybody ruffle his feathers. And I loved how Addy remained devoted to the Ryan family and took care of Sonny and how she wanted Mia to care for Jesse like she did. They do work well together and made a great team. I really liked the small town of Honey Grove, Texas, and the ranch settings of working with alpacas, sheep, and other livestock. It made me want to visit the place by picturing myself there. The theme of the story is everyone deserves a second chance to find their true love, even as friends.

I couldn’t find anything negative to say about it since this was a beautiful heartfelt contemporary romance. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because of a couple of minor glaring errors on misused dialogue tags and internal thoughts on my e-arc from last summer. This is recommended to everyone who loves to read second chance contemporary romance novels or Hallmark movies. If you love heart-stopping sweet contemporary romances with non-stop action, plenty of romantic drama, lots of sparks, and a dose of heat, you'll stop by for a visit at Second Chance at Sunflower Ranch.

Anchored Hearts

 In this blog post, I reviewed Priscilla Oliveras's Anchored Hearts. This second-chance contemporary romance is so heart-warming and tear-jerking to read and sweep you off your feet. For Anamaria Navarro and Alejandro Miranda, they were once high school sweethearts who grew up in Key West Florida and later split to go their separate ways. Twelve years later, Anamaria is a fire fighter/paramedic who's starting up her own fitness company, AM Fitness. She wants nothing more than to spread her wings and fly, while she had been tied down to Key West for a decade ever since her father had a heart attack. Now might be the chance she might do.. But when she received a call from her neighbor that Alejandro, now a professional photographer for National Geographic who traveled the world, had broken his leg during a photo shoot in the Amazon Rain forest. Her meddling interference required Anamaria's medical services to tend to his needs. And that brought them back together with a bittersweet reunion. 

While their mamis continued to meddle and  to bring these former love birds together, Ale didn't expect to see Anamaria again after all these years. It brought back painstaking memories including the ones from his own father's harsh words. All he wanted was to receive his father's acceptance to his roots since he turned him down on not following the footsteps to work in the family restaurant with his brothers. During this time, they mended their own hearts and made new memories as they worked together to build their dreams their own reality. After one passionate kiss, one thing led to another to their no-strings-attached relationship when they both want something more.... permanence. During Ale's photo gallery exhibit, Anamaria overheard that Ale might be leaving for good... again. The same feeling she had a decade ago. Can Ale win back her heart for them to have a happily ever after and stay with her?

 This was a beautiful and touching second-chance contemporary romance. I instantly cared for Anamaria and Alejandro, as a couple and individually, who wanted to do their own feeling and wanting acceptance from their families. I loved their free spirited nature and tenacity to do the right thing and to be their own person. I loved the Key West location for this novel and learning about their Cuban heritage. It was loveswept and picturesque to be transported there. The theme of the story is absence makes the heart grows fonder in order to have a second chance.

Faking It

 In this blog post, I'm going to talk about Jennifer Crusie's Faking It, the 2nd installment in the Dempseys contemporary romance series. This contemporary romance has plenty of chills, thrills, and everything in between including a dose of humor. Matilda "Tilda" Goodnight comes from a strong line of art forgers in her family and replicated six paintings under the name of Scarlet Hodge before she quit the business to become a muralist. When they've gone missing and already sold to other people, she needed to steal it back from Clea Lewis's home. It would help restore her family's gallery reputation and to pay with the finances. While hiding in a closet, she locked lips with a former thief named Davy Dempsey who had a lot going for him too. He wants his money back from Clea. Together, they joined forces to get what they want back while they helped each other out. But can someone keep a secret when a hit man, the FBI, and a killer was out to play? Besides that smoldering kiss, things did heat up between Tilda and Davy in the most intimate way to con others and to keep up the good faith while he'd gotten to know more about the Goodnights better. In the end, secrets and lies were on the line. And if they played their cards right, they might have everything they want in the end after all. 

This was a pretty hilarious and entertaining contemporary romance. I did like the pairing of Tilda, the art thief, and Davy, the con artist. They do make a hellluva of the team together. I cared for Tilda who's trying to do the right thing to keep the family secret from being exposed to the public and making a name of her own. She's down-to-earth, caring, and an overall well-rounded person who had her own scruples. Davy was her exact  equal and wanted a fresh start to make as well. I liked the location in Southern Ohio near the Columbus area including Temptation. It had an idyllic setting for the scenery in and around the towns. The themes of the story is that everyone had a secret to hide and one to keep while greed and revenge can ruin everything your heart desired. 

If you love captivating contemporary romances that keep you at the edge of your seat with non-stop action, plenty of drama, lots of suspense with a dollop of humor thrown into the mix, you'll enjoy Faking It for sure.
