Vector

in James Abel's Vector, the fourth installment in the Joe Rush bio-thriller series, this captivating novel would leave you at the edge of your seat for a new kind of terror. It all started for Joe Rush, when he was on a rescue mission to find his friend Eddie in Brazil. He would have to go through other people to find him and bring him home. Meanwhile, Secretary Kyle Utley from the White House meets with a stranger who promised threats to the USA, if they didn't deliver the ransom money. When it didn't happen as planned, Tom Fargo, an American who turned jihadist terrorist, plans to unleash a new weapon of bio-terror for destruction: generic modified mosquitoes that carry a new kind of malaria. And the first attack happened in New York City. When Joe learns about this new federal emergency, he heads home with Eddie and a new ally, Izabel Santo from Brazil. From there, they learn about this new disease and track down the origins as new attacks hits in other states. Joe and his team tries to connect the dots on this personal attack and races against time to stop another outbreak happens in Atlanta before it's too late.

This was a new kind of thriller that's never been done before. I loved the vast array of settings from Brazil to New York City and then to Nashville for a variety of locations. I cared for Joe and how he searched for Eddie and then dealt with this blow of this new form of disease. I do think Aya is a hoot and a great secondary character. I've found Tom Fargo a bit despicable for his menacing actions. This would take you on a thrill ride from start to finish with non-stop action and plenty of drama, lots of suspense and hints of mystery.

Will you protect yourself from this lethal vector today?

Mission to Protect

In Terri Reed's Mission to Protect, the first installment in the Military K-9 Unit romantic suspense series, this tale is compelling and full of twists and turns. At Canyon Air Force Base, Staff Sergeant Felicity Monroe is the primary target of the Red Rose Killer, when he left his calling card. After he had targeted people close to her at the base,  she needed protection from him and possibly his accomplice too. That's when Staff Sergeant Westley James came in for her security detail from the K-9 unit center. While he protects her and searches for missing dogs from the unit, he needed to keep a safe distance from her. But there's another lurking danger who's after her, when she searches for clues behind her father's "accident" with Westley. The more she learned the truth behind it, her life remained in doubly danger, when someone targets her too. While the feelings between Westley and Felicity grew stronger, he would have to put his life on the line and vow to protect her forever.

This was a great new romantic suspense series to sink you teeth into and enjoy. I loved how the backdrop was set in a military K-9 unit and how the dogs were used as central characters. I've found both Felicity and Westley endearing as two individuals with a bit haunted past. But I loved how Wes took charge of Felicity and sworn to secrecy to protect her from danger, even if it did hit close to home. I loved how Felicity had found her true calling as a base photographer in the end. This would make you shake you head and bite your tongue, when you whistle for the dogs to save the day to rescue you. This has plenty of non-stop action, drama, suspense and plenty of sparking romance.

Will you be there to serve on your next mission to protect today?

Pickle in the Middle Murder

In Jessie Chandler's Pickle in the Middle Murder, the third installment in the Shay O'Hanlon caper cozy mystery series, this mystery packs a helluva punch and gets down to some serious matters of the heart. When Shay and her girlfriend attend the Renaissance Faire, things do tend to get interesting  for them. At the time they discover a dead body in the port-a-potty, JT's accused and then arrested for the murder of the pickle vendor known as Russell Krasski. Frantic with worry, Shay would do everything in her power to set things right, while she held her own at her bar. It was up to her, Coop, and Eddy to pick up the pieces and get deep into the core of JT's life, even if it had to do with the past, and a mean cop named Clint Roberts, who has more than a bone to pick with her. As soon as she discovers more insight behind Krasski's demise, one clue lead to another and escalated to a gripping climax in a dicey situation to escape for her life.

This was another great and mesmerizing cozy mystery from Jessie Chandler. I instantly cared for JT and for Shay, as a loving couple and  as  two individual beings. You can see how much their relationship means for each other as they take it to the next level.  There's so much compassionate and how much they worked for their issues. I did feel bad for JT and despised Clint Roberts a lot.  I loved the Minnesota-St. Park locations and how it came to life on the page for the scenic settings. This would make you want to join forces with Shay and really get to the heart of the matter with drama, suspense, non-stop action and plenty of intrigue.

Her Dark Half

In Paige Tyler's Her Dark Half, the 7th installment in the X-Ops romantic suspense novel, this storyline is filled with high octane drama and so intense and fiery to set the world on fire. For Alina Bosch, a former CIA operator, she had lost her team to a traitor who turned to them. Now she works for the DCO and teamed up with Trevor Maxwell, a coyote shifter soldier, on a most dangerous mission. Although Alina had her own secrets, she's been told to spy on her newest partner for her boss. But things become complicated between her and Trevor, since he wasn't sure if he could trust her or not either. While they learned about each other, they had to deal with their innermost demons and to face the people who had turned on them. During an undercover assignment, things change between them after one solid kiss. That's when things go down and go bust, while they tried to keep all the shifters safe and away from danger. As soon as they knew what their boss was up to, they would pull out the stops in an all-out war to bring him down and to settle the score.

This was another compelling and really awesome romantic suspense novel. I instantly cared for Alina and how she had trust Trevor as her new partner.  And the chemistry between her and Trevor are smoking red-hot. As Trevor had his own trust issues of his own, he wasn't a bad piece of eye candy himself, even if he had coyote-like animal instincts. I loved how they dealt with traitors in the past and how they vowed to take them down and out for good. The Virginia and D.C. area settings were eye-popping and compelling to match the dual locations from start to finish.  This would make you want to fan yourself and drink some infused water a lot with sparking romance, drama, non-stop action and plenty of suspense right to the end.

The Fallen Five

In Erica Spindler's the Fallen Five, the third installment in the Lightkeepers paranormal thriller series, this case was no other for Micki Dare and Zach Harris from the NOPD. It all started with the death of Thomas King, which was considered a suicide, when he jumped from the roof of his office building. It had changed things, when both Micki and Zach were in for a big and deep surprise. While Micki holds onto a special medallion from her friend Hank, Zach tries to connect with his mother Arianna. But between them, they deal with an unknown adversary who moves fast right before their eyes. And with the help from the High Council, they deal with a chameleon creature who shifts and transforms like no other. And this one has a personal grudge against Micki and tries to come between the people she cares for the most. And while she builds a wedge between the NOPD, it turns the tables and comes out with the images of her past. Meanwhile, Angel learns about her pregnancy and yearns for Seth to come to her, but there are forces who wishes to tear them apart. For everyone, their world is turned upside-down, while they set things right and capture the chameleon dead set in her tracks.

This was another fantastic fast-paced and gripping paranormal thriller than before. I instantly cared for Micki and how she dealt with the big blows that headed her way. She also kept her true emotions in check, while there's brewing chemistry between her and Zach. I also cared for Zach who learned more about his mother's past, while he haven't learned who his father was... yet. I did love the chameleon shifter concept for the villains and the storyline. The New Orleans background was sublime and realistic for the locations and the settings from start to finish. This would make you not want to blink an eye to miss a thing and hold onto your seat with non-stop drama, action, suspense and a hint of intrigue.

Will you the one to give the Fallen Five a try tonight?

The Perfect Mistress

In Victoria Alexander's The Perfect Mistress, the first installment in the Mistress Trio historical romance series, this novel would scintillate and entice you to a fiery red hot romance about a well-suited couple. For Lady Julia Winterset, she's widowed and downed in her luck with her finances. And with her great-grandmother's memoirs, it would help her make a most fitting profit. But since it's so scandalous and talked about in town, there would be people who would wish not to see it surface in print. And one of them is Lord Harrison Landingham of Mountdale, since his own father's name were brought up into the mess. And for him, he had proposed an ill-wise plan to get those memoirs out of her hands. But there was something about her that had changed him for the better, though she set out to become her friend and nothing more. As more people became interested in publishing those books with red-hot offers on the table, and a chemistry brewed between Julia and Harrison after that kiss. From there, when she learned on how he deceived her, he would do better to woo her and win her heart to make her his own.

This was another juicy and fiery historical romance with a compelling storyline. I instantly cared for Julia and her financial plight. I also had found Harrison dashing and charming and the ghostly appearances of Hermoine very intriguing. I did enjoy the vast and idyllic scenic settings in London and elsewhere in England with compelling locations. This was a real enjoyable novel that would make you swoon and sway and need a tall glass of water to douse yourself later on with red-hot romance,  intrigue, plenty of non-stop action and drama to keep you hooked right to the end.

In David Gibbins's Atlantis, the first installment in the Jack Howard action-adventure series, get ready to go on a wild ride under the sea and explore new hidden treasures. For Dr. Jack Howard, he's a marine archeologist who just learned about an ancient scroll. From there, he gathered his team and decoded the hidden coded message about Atlantis, the lost legendary civilization of myths that haunted historians to this day. With help from Katya, a mysterious Kazakh woman who helped translate the message, and someone that Jack falls for, they put together the puzzle and go deep-sea diving into their submersibles to search for clues under the sea. A mad man named Aslan would do anything to stop them in the tracks and take his rivals down to receive the prized possession. Below and above the sea, Jack and his friends risk their lives to discover what's mysterious about Atlantis and is it worth fighting and dying for ....

If you're a fan of Clive Cussler's NUMA Files action-adventure series, you would enjoy this one as well. This was an exquisite introduction to the series as it does take you on a wild adventure above and under the sea.  I cared for Jack and his own diverse and international dive team, while they endured many obstacles along the way.  I do think Katya is charming and mysterious in her way. I do love the underwater scenic scenes and the vast locations in the Middle East region of the Aegean sea.  This would take you place you never been before and to hang on for a dangerous adventure with non-stop action, drama, suspense and plenty of mystery.

Undone

In Karin Slaughter's Undone, the third installment in the Will Trent thriller series, this compelling case is so twisted and shocking, that it would knock your own socks off. It started with a car accident, when a body was found at the scene. That's when GBI Investigators Faith Mitchell and Will Trent to the scene. From there, they start to talk to the victim and find out what was special about her to make her a target. Then, they learned that another victim was taken and died trying to escape by hanging from the tree. From there, it became more complex, when they tried to connect the dots by the time two more people had been abducted. For both Will and Faith, they both lead complex lives as well--Faith pregnant with her second child and now a diabetic, Will going through a tumultuous relationship with his wife Angie. Enter Sara Linton, a widow and a former coroner, who helped shed some interesting light into this case. By the time it had gotten more twisted and warped, when they find the underlying connection between them all, it's literally more shocking at the ending of how and when it started in the first place.

This was another gripping and fascinating thriller from start to finish. I instantly cared for Sara Linton, who had been through so much, and might be a central and pivotal character later in the series. I also cared about both Will and Faith, who became an invisible partnership for the GBI, and dealing with some issues of their own. I loved the central Georgia location and the riveting scenic settings from the cavern prison and to the GBI headquarters. This would leave you feeling cold and numb and shake your head a few times with some muttered cursed breaths with non-stop action, drama, intrigue and a whole lot of mystery.

Will you come undone and unraveled to solve this chilling mystery?

This was another fantastic and compelling romantic suspense. This had me at the edge of the seat from start to finish, when they had more than unfinished business to deal with. And they had a mission to complete and make it remotely possible. I cared for Jude and loved that he had a bit of a Hispanic background. I loved how he would go to the ends of the Earth to be with Ella. And I have found Ella as one tough cookie, every step of the way, who learned to trust others and put her faith in Jude and Endgame. The locations were exotic and picturesque from Virginia to Beirut and even to Russia with eye-opening scenic settings. Things get stranger, when she learns more clues behind the ransom and how it's connected to what's happening inside of the casino. In the end, after they pull it off without a hitch, they would have to get down and dirty to return the money.....

This was a charming and compelling new mystery to enjoy and read for Henery Press. I instantly liked and cared for Davis and her twin daughters. I've found that Vreeland and Fantasy were interesting characters names, and both worked well with Davis to save this newest crime caper adventure in the south. I've found the casino background quite intriguing for the backdrop and how amusing it lights up the page for the Biloxi location with fascinating settings. I loved the dogs, Bubblegum and Princess and Harley, who were charmers of their own. This would make you smile and groan, shake your head and whistle, and enjoy this read with drama, non-stop action, suspense and a dollop of a humorous mystery from start to end.

Board Stiff

In Kendel Lynn's Board Stiff, the first installment in the Elliott Lisbon Cozy Mystery series, this debut will give you goose bumps and take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. For Elliott Lisbon, she's a board member of the Ballantyne Foundation in Sea Pine Island, South Carolina. She's also working on a license to become a private investigator. When she was put in charge of the hotel, she had came into a crisis of her own. First she discovered a dead body of one of the board members, Leo Hirschorn, and then she ran into her ex-boyfriend, who's now also her neighbor, and the newest police detective of the Island Police Department. While she did some snooping around, she would do anything to clear one of her esteemed board member's crime from any wrongdoing. As she handled hotel issues like catering from the newest parties and other board work, she learned more about the truth about Leo and how he had gotten over his head in his personal and private life. As she avoided to butt heads with her ex, she started to put the pieces together until she came close of becoming the next victim of the hit list.

This was a charming and an amusing cozy mystery debut that would keep you at the edge of your seat. I adored Elliott Lisbon and how she handled all sorts of crises and how she took care of heated grace under pressure. I do see how Nick can get under her skin, while Matty can leave her hot and bothered. I can see how this love triangle is headed for the rest of the series. I do think both of them would be a good match. Sea Pine Island is so picturesque and idealistic for a seaside town in South Carolina with the beaches and the briny sea air for the locations and the settings--the same for Savannah, Georgia.  This would leave you guessing and shaking your heads a few times with twists and turns and plenty of non-stop action, drama, suspense, and a hint of mystery.

Will you take a stab of reading Board Stiff tonight?
