The Vanishing Angle

In Linda Ladd's The Vanishing Angle, the 5th installment in the Will Novak mystery series, this caper will leave you in suspense and a lot of heart-pounding intrigue. It all started for Will Novak, when he ate his steak dinner at a local steakhouse. When he was kidnapped and held hostage, he was face to face with a ruthless corrupted senator named Charles Blackwood. He accused him of impregnating his daughter, when he never met her before in his life. Nothing more than a major misunderstanding, he talks to Irina, Blackwood's Russian adoptive daughter, who wants his help on escaping from a drug-infused life. While he was held prisoner in a jail, he called his girlfriend, Lori Garner, who works at the Pentagon. When he was bailed out, Will and Lori sort out this sordid story and tried to help Irina out. But along the way, their lives were at risk in a car crash. Later, they ran into Stephan Solovov, a former past whose story is a bad shady for his missing "daughter." Indecisive, Will learns inside information to bring Blackwood down and maybe go after the real killers. Little did he know that he would go over his head and into more trouble that would put everyone at risk.

This was an intriguing novel that held me in suspense from the first page to the last. I cared about Will and how it'd gotten himself into a tangled mess. I also loved how he cared for Lori and love to sail in his boat. I also found Lori a doll to put up with Will and to help him unwind in those messes, though it put a damper on their vacation plans. I loved the locations from Florida to Washington DC and a bit in Canada. It had eye-capturing scenic scenes to put you right there in person. The theme is that opioids is a lethal addiction, and drug and human trafficking is against the law. Be careful on who you trust.

If you love a great story with tons of non-stop drama, action-packed suspense, lots of intrigue and tons of mystery, you'll enjoy the Vanishing Angle today!
