The Last Sister

In Kendra Elliot's The Last Sister, the first installment in the Columbia River romantic suspense series, this novel deals with real life issues reflecting our past in a riveting storyline. When FBI Agent Zander Wells arrived at a double murder crime scene in Astoria, Oregon, he didn't know what it was getting into. One hanged, one brutally stabbed--the couple consisted of a brutal hate crime in sleepy town named Bartonville. And when he met Emily Mills, the witness who found the dead bodies of Sean and Lindsay Fitch, it echoed a twenty-five-year-old murder of her father, Lincoln, who was hanged. While Zander investigates the murder and interviews Emily, there's instant chemistry between them. For Emily, she lives in an old mansion with her three aunts and her sister Madison. She always wondered what happened to her sister Tara and why she distanced herself from them after twenty years. As she reflects back to that awful night to look for clues, Zander searches for answers to who and why killed the Fitches ... and who really killed Lincoln Mills. The revelation is shocking when it echoes white supremist connections to the KKK from the 1960s. Before they can get together, Zander needs to figure out who arranged the hits as Emily attempts to reconnects with her sister Tara in a race against time to survive in the end.

This was a shocking and compelling romantic suspense novel that kicks off a new series. I did care for Zander on how he dealt with a hard-hitting hate crime while he worked on the job to solve this puzzle. I could see the instant connection between him and Emily too. My heart went for Emily who dealt with a long-lost sister, and dealing with racial tensions in a small towns. But I loved how she looked after her own sister Madison who remained aloof too. Her aunts are a hoot in their each and own way. I loved the small town of Bartonville that's outside of Astoria for the scenic locations and the gripping settings. The theme is racism and prejudice, past and present, plain and simple. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say them at all.

If you love heart-stopping non-stop action, heart-pounding suspense, lots of intrigue and sparks of romance, check out the Last Sister out today!

In Lisa Gardner's When You See Me, the 11th installment in the Detective D. D. Warren/20th book in the Gardner Universe thriller series,  this latest best-selling tale will chill you from head to toe. It all started when D.D. Warren joins FBI Agent Kimberly Quincy in a joint task force team in Atlanta, Georgia, when they've discovered new trace of buried bodies with their skeletal bones. As they arrived in Niche, Georgia, this small town isn't what it seems and hiding a couple of dark secrets. When Flora Dane joins their team as a Jacob Ness kidnapping survivor, she knows a lot about her past kidnapper and rapist and is a survivalist. As more  dead bodies turn up in the woods, the towns grows more sinister and darker by the hour, especially when the mayor's wife hangs herself. Talk about disorder out of chaos, more secrets are revealed about how profitable people make businesses there and houses only tourists than residents. And when they discover the shocking truth about the staff at the inn, they learn about another serial killer who's preying on the ground and killing people for profit. In the end, it's a showdown of the survival to the fittest that you would never see before with a compelling ending.

This was a fantastic and compelling best-selling novel from Lisa Gardner. This was so intense and action-packed with gripping suspense in every scene. I did care for Kimberly, Flora, and DD, as they worked together to stop a new serial predator in the midst. I loved how it was told from their POV and how we've got to see the action take place. I did care for Bonita and I felt sorry about the ordeal and the living situation she managed to survive in with silence. I loved the Georgia for the main location and the Niche for a sinister small town that housed a dozen secrets within the woods. The theme is about survival and how people's shady pasts surface to cast a pallor in the future.

The Look-Alike

In Erica Spindler's The Look-Alike, this standalone thriller will leave you at the edge of your seat and leave you breathless. Ten years ago, Sienna Scott discovered a dead body in the snow when blood covered her hands. Now as she returns home to Tranquility Bluffs, Wisconsin, nothing's some peaceful about it. She received a lukewarm homecoming with her half-brother Brad and learned that the decade-old cold case had been reopened. That brought forth memories of the past and her concerns that she might share the same paranoid disorder her mother had and inherited. While she plans to open her own restaurant, she learns new details on the murder and new issues concerning her family, especially with her brother's finances. As she dug deep into the case, she remembers little details and tiny facts to help her out. As she deals with her mother's psychotic episodes, she does find love with her mother's new next-door neighbor Jonathan Hart. But it becomes difficult to separate the truth from the lies, what's fact from fiction, when she solves the puzzle with one clinching detail in a shocking ending.

This was a twisted and shocking new thriller from one of my favorite thriller authors, Erica Spindler. This left me hanging in suspense from start to finish and kept me hooked on every page. I loved the small town of Tranquility Bluffs and how it had an old history of that one unsolved case. It was enchanting and perfect to set the scene during a winter storm season. I cared for Sienna and how she handled everything going on her life. I loved how she re-established new roots in her hometown to have a fresh start in her life. The theme is to be careful on who you trust in your life and that to seek help for any medical health disorder.

If you love heart-stopping, bone-numbing non-stop action, tons of suspense, a dose of mystery, and a shovelful of drama, pick up the Look-A-Like today!

Invinsible

In Lorena McCourtney's Invisible, the first installment in the Ivy Malone mystery series, this enchanted debut will leave you in stitches and keep you in suspense. It all started for Ivy, when she overheard voices at the local cemetery with her best friend Thea. Although the local police couldn't do anything but call it vandalism, Ivy didn't believe so. This feisty senior citizen knew something was up. But then her Thea turned ill and later died. While she dealt with the grief, she talks to their neighbor Kendra Alexander and became a bit suspicious of her and her activities. When she later disappears, she had every reason to be concerned about her too. That's when she mentioned her to Detective Matt Dixon at the police and have him on her side to look into things. The more she dug, the closer she'd gotten closer to the truth to find out who she really was and what was going on. And that had put her in a line of danger with death threats and being shot at. While she put everything together, she sometimes she wished she was invisible from a glaring and threatening obstacle in her way to resume a normal life in the end.

This was a charming mystery debut that features Ivy as a memorable senior citizen for her character.  I did became concerned for her when Thea died and when "Kendra" disappeared mysteriously. I did find Dix a hoot and how Magnolia tried to play matchmaker with her. She might be a busy little old lady, but she tied everything together to the vandalized cemetery and some crooked business. I did like the dual settings of Arkansas and Missouri for the locations for the story and how the scenes came alive on every page. The theme is to be careful for what you wish for and who you trust in the end when looks sometimes can be deceiving.

If you like a great mystery that has tons of suspense, a scoop of humor, lots of intrigue, and plenty of non-stop dramatic action, check out Invisible today.

The Vanishing Angle

In Linda Ladd's The Vanishing Angle, the 5th installment in the Will Novak mystery series, this caper will leave you in suspense and a lot of heart-pounding intrigue. It all started for Will Novak, when he ate his steak dinner at a local steakhouse. When he was kidnapped and held hostage, he was face to face with a ruthless corrupted senator named Charles Blackwood. He accused him of impregnating his daughter, when he never met her before in his life. Nothing more than a major misunderstanding, he talks to Irina, Blackwood's Russian adoptive daughter, who wants his help on escaping from a drug-infused life. While he was held prisoner in a jail, he called his girlfriend, Lori Garner, who works at the Pentagon. When he was bailed out, Will and Lori sort out this sordid story and tried to help Irina out. But along the way, their lives were at risk in a car crash. Later, they ran into Stephan Solovov, a former past whose story is a bad shady for his missing "daughter." Indecisive, Will learns inside information to bring Blackwood down and maybe go after the real killers. Little did he know that he would go over his head and into more trouble that would put everyone at risk.

This was an intriguing novel that held me in suspense from the first page to the last. I cared about Will and how it'd gotten himself into a tangled mess. I also loved how he cared for Lori and love to sail in his boat. I also found Lori a doll to put up with Will and to help him unwind in those messes, though it put a damper on their vacation plans. I loved the locations from Florida to Washington DC and a bit in Canada. It had eye-capturing scenic scenes to put you right there in person. The theme is that opioids is a lethal addiction, and drug and human trafficking is against the law. Be careful on who you trust.

If you love a great story with tons of non-stop drama, action-packed suspense, lots of intrigue and tons of mystery, you'll enjoy the Vanishing Angle today!

Chasing Tinsel

In Ellie Ashe's Chasing Tinsel, the 5th installment in the Miranda Vaughan Mystery Novella series, this short 62-paged novella would keep you in the holiday spirit beyond the Christmas Season. Two years after she was acquitted from fraud, Miranda's back to work and hoping to look for some money. But during this holiday season, she works at a mall as a retail clerk for a makeup counter. Though a temporary job, she sells cosmetics and make-up supplies with Brianna, another clerk. But when she suspects two people shoplifters dressed as elves, she makes a run for it and chased them. Except she's not allowed to. But she befriends a mall Santa Claus named John Murphy and gets to know him better. She later learns that looks can be deceiving when the other mall Santa Clauses rob the jewelry store. The FBI sworn him and arrest John Murphy on the spot. While she tried to keep up with the holiday spirit, she'll spend her holiday birthday alone with her aunt and opens a charming gift from "John" that cheered her up. It had a charming ending to put a smile on your face.

This is an endearing and lovely short Christmas caper to read in one setting. I did care for Miranda and how she made some money at the mall. I hated to see people rob the mob and for her to spend her birthday alone with her aunt. It makes me wonder if FBI Agent Jake Barnes would make an appearance in her life again. I did like how she befriended "John", though she didn't know his whole story until the end. I like the holiday setting to take place around Christmas, though it was hard to pinpoint the location of Point Pleasant. The theme is be careful on people you trust in any season and never judge a book by its cover because looks can be deceiving, too.

If you loved a great short read with a hint of humor, plenty of charming drama, some nonstop action and a spark of mystery, check out Chasing Tinsel today!

Silver Girl

In Elin Hilderbrand's Silver Girl, this emotionally-charged woman's fiction novel is so strong and pulls at your heart strings real tight. For Meredith DeLinn, her world came tumbling down when her husband Frederick was arrested for financial crimes and ripping people off with the Ponzi scheme. While she spent time in the prison, Meredith can't talk to her two sons, while she's under investigation for any wrongdoing into it. But when her best friend, Constance Flute, asked her to join her at her summer home in Nantucket, she's happy to oblige. Though there's been a rift between them, Meredith reflects back on her relationship with Connie, her relationship with Connie's brother Toby, and how she met Fred DeLinn many years ago. She'd thought she had it all until it came crashing down on her with his lying deceit. In order to free herself from the public's eye in scrutiny, and criticism, she has to remember any subtle clues from the past while she remained the target. For Connie, she's a widow and estranged from her only daughter, Ashlyn, ever since she lost her husband Wolf. But on the island, she does everything she could to support Meredith's claim of innocence. But when she meets Dan Flynn, a widowed father of two sons, she becomes enchanted with him and lets herself fall in love with him. For Meredith, when Toby's resurfaces in her life, she has to make amends and cut her losses in order to have the freedom she so deserved to start her new life.

This was a beautiful woman's fiction novel that deals with the themes of friendship and second chances in life and love. I cared for Meredith on how she dealt with her family issues due to the financial investigation against her husband. I loved how she searched for clues to the past like a miner panning for gold in the water to help set her free and clear her name. I loved how Connie reached out to her in her time of need to seek refuse on Nantucket Island--an idyllic and serene place to set sail for the location and the remote scenic settings for the backdrop. I did feel sad for her on how Ashlyn didn't want to seek to her, but she did reach out in the end. But I loved how she cared for Meredith and how she found new love with Dan on the island.

If you love a sweet endearing and powerful profound woman's fiction novel that has non-stop drama, plenty of suspense, sparks of love, and hints of mystery along the way, Silver Girl is the one for you.

Good Girls Lie

In J.T. Ellison's Good Girls Lie, you'll be hooked on the first page and can't put it down until the end. It all started for Ash Carlisle, a new student to join the Goode All-Girl Academy in Marchburg, Virginia. She came from her posh London home to get the education she deserved and needed from her trouble home. When she joined the ranks of the sophomore, it made everyone curious about her and why she fled England. Her first days were troublesome when everyone teased her and gave her a hard time. But she kept a dark secret that no one should know when she stayed there for her education. Ash had trouble making friends and even her room mate Camille had kept her distance from her, being secretive and distant. But when someone found her dead body on the ground, it made everyone suspicious of her, even the cops and Dean Westhaven. Lo and behold, when she's tapped by a secret society of senior students, she becomes friends with Becca Curtis who had a secret of her own to keep. There's some kind of fascination with her that made her want to get closer to her. But Ash's world is about to come back down and turn dangerous and deadly, when the truth could come about her and her true identity. In the end, she would have to free herself and expose the secret before someone like herself would get her in the crossfire of her worst enemy... someone close to her who would do anything to get her own way... even commit murder.

From start to finish, this fantastic novel give me goosebumps and shivers down my spine. I cared for "Ash" and how she wanted to make a name for herself in Goode. I did feel bad that her parents treated her badly and how she wanted to escape from it. I did feel curious about Camille's dark secret and how Dean Westhaven had found love as a "cougar" with a younger man. I loved the intricate backdrop of how this academy housed dark secrets about murder and missing lost urban and mythical legends. The scenic settings in Marchburg made it the perfect location to set the scenes for the story. The theme is secrets have a way on coming out when you least expect it. Also it's being kind to others, no matter who they are when they crossed paths in your life.

If you love a twisted thriller with dark drama, suspenseful non-stop action, plenty of mystery and a big dose of a creep factor, check out Good Girl Lie today!

Sisters by Choice

In Susan Mallery's Sisters by Choice, the 4th installment in the Blackberry Island woman's fiction series, this beautiful novel deals with three women who grew up together in California and live on Blackberry Island. They all have to do with difficult choices in their lives and becomes closer as sisters in the same family. For Sophie Lane, when her business went up in flames, she moved to the island and became closer to her cousins Kristine Fielding, and her second cousin Heather. From there, she had to start from scratch to rebuild her business and learned  how to let go of being too controlling of her business and let people help become a success. She also helps Kristine and Heather with her own issues, while she deals with her relationship with Dugan Phillips, a Tai Chi instructor who has a secret past. But while she loves to make love to him, she has to let him into her heart and learns to love him if they want a relationship. Her cousin Kristine Fielding, who's been married for sixteen years to Jaxsen, has always wanted a business of her own. For once, besides being doting wife and mother to three boys, she wants something more. And her husband Jaxsen had put his foot down by standing in the ways for her dreams. Will their marriage survive or fall apart at the seams? As for Heather, she's been always taking care of her mother who's been injured in a car accident. She had done everything she wanted and paid for everything while her mother complained, did nothing, and would never change.  And when her grandmother wishes to sell her mother, Heather needs to make a touch decision. Stay trapped on the island or go to college to set her free? The choice is hers.

This is a beautiful and moving woman's fiction about three women and their journeys to follow their dreams. The themes are families stick together and do whatever it takes to follow your dreams. I cared for Heather, Sophie and Kristine, who all came together through thick and thin, and were dealt with challenging issues in their lives. Together and alone, I cared for them and how they made the most on living on the island. I didn't care for Amber, who was Heather's mother. She needs to grow up or be miserable for her rotten life. I loved the California locations and the tropical idealistic scenic settings on the island. It makes me want t go there and stop there for a visit.
