Silver Linings

In Debbie Macomber's Silver Linings, the 4th installment in the Cedar Cove Rose Harbor contemporary romance series, this compelling and beautifully written contemporary romance will move you to tears. For Jo Marie Rose, the innkeeper of Rose Harbor Inn in Cedar Cove, she's been a young widow and mourned the loss of her husband Paul. When she purchased the inn and hired Mark Taylor, her handyman to build the gazebo, they had a working relationship and friendship. Within time, before the project was done, Mark put his house on sale and left without saying goodbye to Jo Marie. He must be hiding something from her as Jo Marie begins to experience life and seeing her friends again. For Kellie "Coco" Crenshaw and Katie Gilroy, two best friends who returned to Cedar Cove to seek out the boys who hurt them the most.  Coco wanted to tell Ryan how he felt about how he treated her in the past, and Kellie wanted to explain why she broke off her relationship with James Harper. All three women were seeking answers to those questions and discover that new love could blossom for them to give them a second chance behind a cloud's silver lining with a happy ending.

This was a beautiful contemporary romance that tugs the heart and deals with second chances to find and rediscover love. I instantly cared for Jo Marie on how she handled Mark's aloofness and why he had to leave her for his own reasons. I loved how she cared for her clients and how she managed to break out from the shell from grieving her husband's love and to seek out friends and fun. I cared for both Katie and Coco, who were both sought out for a mission and accomplished it with a new ray of sunlight to lead their way of finding true happiness in love. I also loved how their lives were intertwined with one another. The Cedar Cove setting was mesmerizing and beautiful and captivating for a small town in Northern Washington. The theme of the story is you can't change the past, but you can pave the way for the future.

If you love heartfelt and emotional-packed contemporary romances with heart-stopping drama, plenty of non-stop action, lots of love and tearjerking moments, Silver Linings is the one for you.

What the Heart Wants

In Audrey Carlan's What the Heart Wants, the first installment in the Wish Contemporary Romance series, this beautiful romance tugs the heart strings and brings tears to your eyes. Ten years ago, Suda Kaye Ross left everything to spread her wings and experience everything her heart desired. Now she returned home to make a fresh start in Pueblo, Colorado, and to reconnect with the people she left behind like her older sister Evie. Though she's been known to be a wanderer with itchy feet, she needed to plant her roots to stay grounded for good. When she has plans to start her own boutique, she faces the council board and meets with her ex-boyfriend, Camden Bryant, who had never forgiven her for leaving him without an explanation. While she received his approval, she had many run-ins with Cam and dealings with his fiancée Brittany. To fight off hard feelings, she places her affections to her contractor Kyson, who also has his eyes set on her. When Suda Kaye and Evie overhear Brittany's conversation, she later informs Cam at a family dinner she wasn't invited to--and her secret's exposed that she used him. With her out of the way, Suda Kaye and Camden get closer to together in a most intimate way and talk about the past and the future up until the grand opening of her boutique. After all these years, this dream came true for her when she wished upon a star to find out the true meaning of home.

This was a beautiful contemporary romance to read and relish. I loved how it featured Native American characters and depicted their culture very well. I did care for Suda Kaye when she finally returned home to reunite with her sister Evie and her long-lost love Camden, who was made for her. I loved how she wanted to establish her own business and take care of the big details to run a small business in town. I've found Camden's family a hoot and Camden a real charmer who really took care of her. I loved the dual locations of Colorado Springs and Pueblo in Colorado and how mesmerizing they were when brought to live. The main theme is to embrace you who are when home is where the heart is.

If you love a heartswept contemporary romance with plenty of non-stop action, heartfelt drama, lots of romance, and plenty of tear-jerking moments, What the Heart Wants is perfect for you!

From the Grave

In David Housewright's From the Grave, the 17th installment in the Mac MacKenzie mystery series, this caper deals with evil spirits and psychic mediums and dealing with the past. It all started when Shelby Dunston attended a psychic reading with psychic Hannah Braeten and her prediction that someone offered money to kill Rushmore "Mac" McKenzie. From when learns about this, PI Rushmore is quite intrigued to be informed about this and dug into the cold cases with his former partner, Bobby Dunston. It led him to the armored robbery heist and the death of Leland Hayes. It sent McKenzie on a wild goose chase to look for clues for the money and searched for answers to those who associated to Leland in the past. When Kayla Janas, a young psychic protegeé and college student, meets McKenzie, she claims the same thing on what Leland had said. McKenzie had no idea on who and what to believe until the end when it was all for show and the biggest discovery of what happened to the missing money and dispelling Leland's evil haunted spirit away for good.

I love the paranormal twist to this compelling mystery with shocking turns on every page. I cared for McKenzie who was caught in the middle of this twisted cold case from his past. I loved how he cared for Nina and how he always turned down her proposals--maybe he would say yes this time. I cared for Kayla who's new to the psychic medium art to see dead people and give people readings from her departed loved ones. I did feel bad for Nina who always waited for McKenzie to accept her proposals, but loved she owned a jazz club to promote new music. I loved the dual locations of the Twin Cities that had compelling scenic settings to took you place, above the grave. The themes of the story are to be careful of your past, or it might come back to haunt you.

If you love mind-boggling mysteries that take you on a thrill ride with plenty of non-stop action, lots of suspense, a hint of the paranormal, and shocking turns to keep you guessing, give From the Grave a read today!

Paradise Cove

In Jenny Holiday's Paradise Cove, the 2nd installment in the Matchmaker Bay contemporary romance series, this sweet tale tells about how two people who weren't looking for love found each other at the right place. For Dr. Nora Walsh, she needed to escape from an abrupt broken relationship with her boyfriend and moved from Toronto to a sleepy little coastal town named Moonflower Bay.  She had set forth a plan to stay there for two years to become the new doctor at the local clinic. Everyone in that small town meddles and plans to match her up with someone. But when she met Jake Ramsey at the local hair salon, a handyman who loved to build and repair things, who wasn't interested in a relationship, and mourned the loss of his newborn son Jude who died a few years ago. But if there wasn't something in the water, when Nora and Jake got together as friends, something continued to build from there into an intimate friends-with-benefits relationship. They were there for each other's sorrows and life's obstacles and were perfectly fit and made for each other. During time, when Nora finds out she's pregnant with Jake's baby, it changed everything when he pushed her away. It was now up to Jake to put the past behind him and set things right to have a future with Nora and their unborn child in a place aptly titled Paradise Cove.

This was a sweet heart-warming romance about finding love when they would least expect it. I did care for Nora on how she handled being a newcomer to the town, building her clinic, and getting Jake to open up to her surprisingly, and her grandmother's illness and death. I had loved how she changed her plans and decided to stay in the perfect place that's fitting for her. I like Jake and felt bad on how he dealt with such heart-breaking grief from the past and how he was there for Nora through thick. I adored the coastal town of Moonflower Bay and Jake's Paradise Cove by the lake. It was idyllic and magical with its newfound traditions like the Anti-Festival. The theme of the story is Fate could change your plans when you'll be looking for someone-or-something when it sneaks up on you.

If you love an amazing heartfelt contemporary romance with non-stop action, plenty of drama, a hint of intrigue and a sparkle of love, Paradise Cove is the right book for you.

Vendetta

In Iris Johansen's Vendetta, the 5th installment in the Catherine Ling thriller series, this newest chapter is fierce and red-hot with tons of dangerous and thrilling adventures. Right after Carl Venable died before her eyes, Jude Brandon promised to find his daughter Rachel and to protect her from danger. Brandon and his team searched for her in the Brazilian rain forest and rescued her before she was targeted. From there, Rachel brings Maria, one of her patients, and her mother, Blanca, along for the ride to safety and out of harm's way. She also learns about her father's death and who killed him. At first, Jude and Rachel had a volatile beginning when they worked together as friends and joined forces to recruit Catherine Ling, one of Venable's former operatives. They needed to bring down Max Huber, a fearless leader of a militia terrorist group, to seek revenge against those who killed his father's a few years ago. This trio had to come up with a witty plan to stop him at his tracks before people would get hurt and lives would be lost in one of his self-destructive ways with a fiery ending that will give you goosebumps right down to the climax.

This was a phenomenal thriller that features Jude Brandon and Catherine Ling. I really cared for Jude who was set out on a mission to protect Rachel, while he fell head over heels in love with her. I cared for Rachel and her wild red hair, who worked to find cures in the desert, dealt with a tumultuous imprisonment in Afghanistan, and lost a lot when she thrived to live. I loved her take-charge attitude and how she never faltered to take down Huber. I also loved Catherine Ling who helped them out and used her wily resources to find pertinent information they needed to survive and wins in this no-holds-barred showdown. I loved the various locations from the Brazilian rain forest to Canada which had mesmerizing scenic settings to catapult you there. The theme of the story is Revenge is best served cold by not letting your guard down.

If you love intense action-packed thrillers with heart-stopping suspense, non-stop drama, plenty of twisted surprising turns and shocking sparks of mystery along the way, Vendetta is the one for you!

The Forever Girl

In Jill Shalvis's The Forever Girl, the 6th installment in the Wildstone Contemporary Romance series, this story is so beautifully well-written and pulls at your heart strings. "Mayhem" Maze Porter had always been known to be wild, impulsive, and blows up things she ruins, including her friendships and relationship. Ever since she was a teenager, she'd been adopted by the Walshes and became friends with Caitlin and her brother Michael until a deadly fire changed things. And on the 3rd anniversary of Michael's death, they had a fight and went their separate ways... until Caitlin managed to get Maze reunited with them for her upcoming wedding. For the past week, while they help Caitlin prepare for the wedding, Maze brings her plus one as her date for the wedding as she deals with her feelings for Walker Scott, her former foster brother and secret husband she accidentally married a few years. Meanwhile Caitlin deals with the wedding prep and trying to bring her three friends together for one special week. With a boatload of fun and laughter, Maze and her friends talk about past lies and secrets, Maze begins to open up about her feelings for Walker and deals with her past flaws to know the true meaning of friendship, family and love.

This contemporary romance most definitely warms the heart and your soul. I really enjoyed it and loved it--and I think you will too. I cared for Maze on how she dealt with facing the past before you can deal with the future while she needed to be there for Caitlin. I loved Walker and his name, when he's a secretive sort about his feelings and the past too. But he's sort of guy that's always there for his friends through thick and thin. For a rugged FBI agent, that hits a high note for me. And I did feel for Caitlin who tried to lasso her friends together because they were her friends and more importantly family to her. She also came to gripes about marrying Dillon or not. I loved the location of Wildstone California and the picturesque scenic settings on this small town. The themes are that blood is thicker than water when it comes to all different meanings for family and you can't change the past.

If you're looking for a perfect contemporary romance that hits all the right notes with non-stop action, plenty of drama, hints of humor and a dollop of good laughter, make sure you'll pre-order The Forever Girl today!

Eclair and Presnent Danger

In Laura Bradford's ´Eclair and Present Danger, the first installment in the Emergency Dessert Squad Culinary Cozy Mystery series, this delightful cozy mystery debut kicks up a new cozy that you'll enjoy. Poor Winnie Johnson. When the rent goes up for her bakery in Silver Lake, Ohio, she couldn't afford it to keep it any longer. Then she inherited an antique ambulance and a cat from her elderly neighbor's will. When she deals with her new predicament, she tries to get Lovey to appreciate and love her. At the same time, a hot EMT named Greg Stephens comes by and wanting to buy the antique ambulance. But Winnie and her partner/best friend have a better idea--an emergency dessert squad. With his help, he gave us a tour of an ambulance and how to put it to use with some culinary-related touches. While she kickstarted the business, she checked on a neighbor of hers with a peach pie. And she discovered him dead. Now it's up to her to find out who done it while she's making emergency dessert deliveries and meets her potential love interest. In the end, she narrows down her potential suspects, which hits way too close to home with a shocking twist.

This new culinary cozy series debut was a delightful treat to read and enjoy. I cared about Winnie and how she handled a potential love triangle with Jay and Greg and how she dealt with her ambulatory dessert bakery business to help her afloat. I also wondered if poor Lovey would warm  up to her, though she was so affectionate with others nearby. I did think Mr.  Nelson is a hoot and that Renee is a great friend to Winnie. I do adore the cozy town of Silver Lake, Ohio--there's an actual one nearby where I live, fifteen minutes away. Small world! I loved the fictional counterpart to this small town with a charming location and lovely scenic settings to complete the idealistic imagery. The themes of this cozy are anything's possible, and don't let greed get in the way.

If you enjoy a new culinary cozy series to read with non-stop action, plenty of culinary drama, tons of suspense, and sparks of mystery, you'll sink your teeth into the yummy recipes featured in Eclair and Present Danger.
