In Leann Sweeney's Pick Your Poison, the first installment in the Yellow Rose Mystery series, we were introduced to Abby Rose. She was out of work, out of motivation and out of school. And when she returned home to Texas, she found Ben, her dead gardener in her greenhouse. When the local hot Houston PD detective Jeff informed her about the poison, it was now up to Abby to find out who killed Ben and why. And while she looked for clues, she also find some hidden secrets from her past that might help her solve the case, before the killer came for her next.
This is a delightful introduction to the Yellow Rose Mystery series. We do get to know more about Abby a bit more, when she learned more about her own family. I liked her very much and could see possible sparks between her and Jeff in the future. This had a nice floral theme to it as well. She was a charming young woman for this new cozy series.

The Cat, the Wife and the Weapon
If you love a cat-friendly cozy, this new cozy series from Leann Sweeney is a real treat. In The Cat, the Wife and the Weapon, the 4th book in the Cats in Trouble series, Jillian Hart was a widow who created quilts for cats and lived with three of her own. But when she was tangled up into another murder mystery, it was messy like a runaway ball of knotted yarn. It all started with a car crash, when her boyfriend Tom ended up injured and his stepson from his previous marriage had gotten concussed from the same crash. Out of the woodwork, Tom's half-brother was lurking around and other surprises were in store for them, like his estranged ex-wife and secrets about her first marriage. Jillian and her cats were stuck in the middle, when they needed to separate the lies from the truth and fact from fiction. Before she knew it, they were trapped until the real motive comes out in the end. This is an enjoyable read.
I always enjoyed a cozy featuring cats and other family-friendly pets. Cats are amazing creatures of habit and loving family members. I became intrigued with Jillian's quilting and became fascinated with her caring nature to Tom's step-son. I think I see a relationship blooming in the future between the two of them. I didn't like his half-brother or ex-wife either. They rubbed me the wrong way and left me feeling cold and empty. But you did feel genuinely real, when you were gripped from the first page to the shocking ending.
If you love cats, you'll love this purr-fect cozy! Check it out today!

Shoot From the Lip
In Leann Sweeney's Shoot From the Lip, the 4th book in the Abby Rose series, Abby dealt with a reality show that wants to reunite a family together. For Emma Lopez, she wanted to be reunited with her long-lost sister and find out the truth on her mom's disappearance. While dodging the press, they unearthed skeletons in the closet, when a dead baby was found, and questions were asked. Abby decided to investigate this matter further, when the killer was on her tail and had killed her source. As Abby got close to the truth, a killer closed in on her family and made her a target, while Jeff dealt with a family crisis of his own. This is a jam-packed good read for a cozy.
I loved the floral theme in this delightful cozy. We do get to know more about Abby's family a bit better, while she was off to solve another mystery. We also watch the chemistry between Abby and Jeff a bit more. There's a bunch of drama over here in this story, when it dealt with reality TV. You'll be hooked by every single gripping page.
